The latest Will Trent novel does not disappoint. Beloved characters working towards the common good, and maybe some resolution for past wrongs. along with characters you love, there are several here you will love to hate.

Thanks to Blackstone and NetGalley for providing an audio ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I was excited, NGL, for a new Karin Slaughter that wasn't an Andie Oliver book. I love the Grant County series, so I put my other books aside so I could consume this one. Was it her best? No, but it was good enough that I enjoyed it quite a bit. I'm used to there being some basic plot holes and far-fetchedness in the average Will Trent book (I mean, they're escapist fiction with a TON of TWs, so ...) and I decided long ago not to let that keep me from reading.

If you have any sensitivity t0 rape stories, you probably shouldn't read this one, but that goes for most of the books in this series. I thought this one portrayed violent rape and its aftermath accurately. I enjoyed the interplay between Will and Faith, and I was able to ignore Sara being so perfect. She's a bit less perfect in this one, since we're dealing with a lot of her trauma, but Slaughter insists on making a thing about how gorgeous she is repeatedly (when this happens, I tend to assume that the character is inspired by someone the author loves in real life, but it just gives me flashbacks to Addie LaRue. No thanks). Amanda really starts to show some humanity here, too, and that's pretty great (I'm a big Amanda fan).

The actual crimes are horrific, of course, as is par for the course in any Karin Slaughter novel. Just when you think she's found the bottom of human depravity, she finds they key to the cellar door. That's her gift, and it's not for everybody.

The only things that bothered me a bit were:
The timeline as it regards Sara's life. Lately, Slaughter has seemed to forget that Sara had a life before Will that had quite a bit of trauma. It felt strange to see an incident from her past take up so much acreage when I would think that seeing your husband blown to bits would be the more traumatic incident, not to mention all the other crap she's gone through. I guess because it all ties in with the rest of the story, it's given more prominence.

Britt drawing Sara's attention to the thing in the first place. Was it really an attempt to get the heat off of Tommy? Because I cannot conceive of a situation in which everyone else goes down and Tommy is spared.

Anyway, I devoured this like the creepy candy it is. Long live Will Trent.

First, I would like to thank NetGalley and Blackstone Publishing for the opportunity to listen to this book before it is officially published in exchange for my honest review.

4.5 stars for Karin on this one. Trigger Warnings: domestic abuse, stalking, rape, abuse of power, drugged victims, descriptions are graphic at times.

I love the the characters of Will and Sara and their understanding of each other's pasts. I was really looking forward to another book in the Will Trent Series, but was hoping for something brand new that they had to deal with. Instead we end up revisiting Sara rape 15 years in the past because Sara wants to get to the bottom of the death of a young women who came to the ER and Sara was unable to save her. Before Dani passed out she told Sara enough details to start searching for the truth, only to learn that there is some kind of link between this rape and her rape 15 years in the passed.

The majority of the story involves, Sara, Will and Faith (Will's GBI partner and Sara's best friend) investigating on their own until they reach a point where they must involve their boss, Amanda, and the GBI.

There are a few nerve wrecking moments in their meetings with the group they believe is behind the rape, but really only one twist at the end.

The story was great, but as a fan of Karin Slaughter who has read everything she has written, I was a little disappointed so I could not give it 5 stars.

Karin Slaughter delivers Will Trent #11 – and wow is this one a page turner!! Will and Sara are back and this time Sara’s past rears its ugly head with a vengeance.
I loved seeing all the gang back together and am thrilled that Will and Sara are getting married!! The book opens with a girl crashing into the ER who alleges she has been raped by a very prominent doctors son.
The book is well written and extremely well thought out. The characters you will love and hate. Be prepared, this book will keep you reading late into the night.
I listened to the audio version and the author was great! Many thanks to NetGalley and Blackstone Publishing Audiobooks for my ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts.

In many ways, this is the culmination of many threads that have run through the Will Trent and Sara Linton series over the years. While not an easy listen due to the nature of the cases, it was a powerful reminder of how society forces a narrative on rape victims as well as a compelling story as Will, Sara, and Faith go "rogue" to figure out the tie between several vicious attacks over 15 years. A captivating thriller as you'd expect from Karin Slaughter!

Thanks to Blackstone Publishing for access to an ALC via NetGalley.

Doctor's take an oath to preserve life but in this story saving a life leads to becoming a victim. Good narration with a story that moves along at a quick pace.

the setup…
Dr. Sara Linton was the attendant in Emergency when Dani Cooper arrived, an assault victim in deep distress. As she valiantly fights to save her, Sara is the only one to hear pertinent details that confirm she’d been drugged and raped. Now she’s at the alleged rapist’s trial, one she’s been dreading because he’s the son of a former colleague who knows what happened to her fifteen years ago. When she finishes testifying, she later learns that there might be a connection between what happened to Dani and Sara’s rape all those years ago.

the heart of the story…
I’ve read this series in order, including its predecessor, so Sara’s rape fifteen years ago was not a secret. However, that’s about all that was revealed…no details, not even the name of the rapist other than he was captured. This was the story I didn’t even know I wanted! See, everyone else in Sara’s life was as much in the dark about the details as I was because that’s how she chose to deal with it, not wanting to be forever viewed as a rape victim. In sharing her story, she also provided insight about the crowd she hung around with, including her ex. It was not only illuminating but loaded with plenty of suspects for the here and now. Equally compelling was how Will and Faith navigated the political snake pit to investigate without a local invitation and to keep Sara’s confidence.

the narration…
I love how Early handles the storytelling for this series. I’ll never go back to reading because she makes the characters come alive and with distinction. She also makes it hard to find a stopping point.

the bottom line…
This was riveting stuff…Sara’s life fifteen years ago, the horror of what was happening to these women, the misogyny of law enforcement and the revelations in the end. It’s gritty, yes, but it’s the cultural elements impacting women in a really bad way that are hard to stomach. It’s relevant and shines a dark light on issues we continue to face today. On a lighter note, Sara and Will’s upcoming nuptials and continuing affection add some brightness that warmed my heart. I will definitely be listening to this again because I raced through it and know I missed some things. It’s an outstanding story.

The latest installment of the Will Trent series. Whenever I think that Karin Slaughter will run out of stories to tell with Will, Sarah, and Faith, but she never disappoints. Always taking the roughest of subjects and creating world that you can’t read fast enough.

I listened to the audiobook version, as I have the entire series. Kathleen always does an excellent job relaying Slaughter’s stories.

My first Will Trent novel and completely loved it. This is one of the few books I have read lately that did not, in my opinion, rush the ending and wrap it up with a neat bow. Definitely worth a read.

Absolutely loved this one! This is the 11th book in the series. I love Will and Sara (the two main characters). This book gives you a lot of answers into Sara's past and I loved everything about it. I loved how Will and Sara work together on a case, I've loved Sara since the Grant County series and she's still one of my favourite characters of all time!

I listened to the audio of this and loved it! The narrator usually narrates Karin's books and she does it in such an engaging way! LOVED it!

After That Night (Will Trent #11)
Karin Slaughter
Sara Linton’s life was changed forever after the night she was raped. It should have been a night of celebration for she was offered the fellowship she had worked so hard for, but instead it was a night where she fought for her life and destroyed her dreams and her ability to have children. Sara is a successful doctor, deeply in love with her fiancé Will Trent, she has left the past behind her until it catches up with her.
Dani Cooper was brought into the ER on the verge of death, she tells Sara she was raped. Sara is the only one that hears her statement. Sara fought to save the woman’s life to no avail; she is determined to seek justice for Dani. Three years later Tommy McAllister was tried in civil court for the rape and murder. Sara testified. Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Special Agent Will Trent led the investigation. Strangely the details behind the rape and attack on Dani are similar to what happened to Sara fifteen years previously. While the last thing Sara wants is to revisit the event that so devastated her, Sara feels she must do it for Dani. Will and his partner Faith Mitchell’s investigation leads them to a vicious rape club; the members are egotistic and believe they are above the law.
I am a big fan of Karin Slaughter and especially for her characters Sara Linton and Will Trent. While this book was brutal to read, I was glad to see Sara and Will working together. He was so very understanding and supportive. I enjoyed seeing both Faith and Amanda had plenty of time in the tale.
Thank you to Blackstone Publishing and Netgalley for providing me with a review copy of After The Night by Karin Slaughter. As always my reviews are my unbiased opinion.

This is the ELEVENTH book of the series but can be read as a standalone. That being said, if this is your first venture into a KS novel, brace yourself, as her books are not for the faint of heart. Slaughter writes unapologetically; boldly exposing the dark side of humanity with every raw, gritty detail. This narrative had me hooked from page one with clever storytelling and complex, captivating characters. While the story is centered around Sarah and what happened “that night”, Slaughter intricately weaves a subplot around, over, and through. I laughed, I cried, I screamed, and sometimes I wanted to throw up at the depravity of truth behind her words. Kudos to KS on another great novel.

Thanks to #Blackstoneaudio and #Netgalley for the ARC of #AfterThatNight which was reviewed voluntarily.

I enjoyed this one, but I recommend everyone look up the trigger warnings.

Sarah and her fiancé will investigate a series of SA's that are very close to home.

Sarah was horrifically assaulted back in medical school. Years later there is another brutal attack that is eerily similar. When another young girl goes missing, Sarah is determined to figure out how the cases are all connected. It leads her down a dark and twisty road of secrets.

Like most of this author's books, my only complaint is the unnecessary length of the book. I feel like there is far too much description of the scenery and what is going on in the background. This book could have been half the length with half the adjectives and a quarter of the descriptions of what is on the walls of every room a character enters.

Other than that, I enjoyed all of the main characters and how they worked together to solve the case.

The ending of the book was a plot twist that I saw coming, but at the same time didn't entirely make sense. It happened really quickly and upon reflection, there were some parts of it that didn't entirely make sense, so it made me wonder if the culprit was lying. I can't say much more without spoilers.

Overall, it was a typical and enjoyable Karin Slaughter book with all the horrific shock value. I would only recommend it to those who understand going in that there are some triggering themes of SA, homicide, torture, drugging and assault.

Thank you NetGalley, Blackstone Publishing - Audiobooks, and Karin Slaughter for the advanced copy of After That Night in exchange for my honest review.

First, I feel it's worth mentioning that there is *heavy* mention of sexual assault in this book. Please proceed with caution if that's a tough subject for you.

I am so thankful to have had the audio for this one! Not only did I enjoy the narrator, but if you've read a Karin Slaughter novel in the past you know those chapters can get loooong. This helped break the book up easily for me!

Karin Slaughter has done it again my friends! I've missed Will and Sara so much, the Will Trent series is hands down my favorite of all time. I don't know how she continues to publish banger after banger, but I'm really thankful for it.

The investigative team of Faith, Sara, and Will just WORKS, there really is no better way to explain it. The characters compliment each other so well. And with this being book 11 (I think?) in the series, the background stories of our main characters have been so well-developed that it feels like revisiting old friends when diving back into their world.

Suffice to say I freaking loved this one, don't miss it on US bookshelves August 22!

I recognize it’s a weird move to read book 11 in a series rather than starting with book one. In my defense, I had a friend tell me to try the Will Trent series so when I saw it on Netgalley I couldn’t help requesting it. The rest is history. 😂

I thought this was a really good book with a healthy balance of police procedural and forensic analysis. The main characters were easy to like and even though I don’t have the history of the previous ten books I was still rooting for them. There are a ton of potential trigger warnings in this one so make sure you’ve checked those out before diving in. While I did struggle with some of the content it was a really good book and I’ll definitely be going back to start at the beginning of this series very soon.

Thank you Blackstone Publishing - Audio for the alc via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Dr. Sara Linton has remade her life after a violent attack 15 years ago. One night while on call in the ER she battles to save the life of a young woman who’s been brutally attacked. In her last breath, the patient tells her she was drugged and raped. When the investigation progresses, it’s clear that their assaults are linked. Sara is determined to get justice for Dani, forcing her to face her past with the help of her fiancée, Special Agent WIll Trent.

First off, Slaughter NEVER misses, especially in writing an intricate and enthralling story. 🤌🏽 It was gripping and fast paced right from the prologue so I was REELING. After That Night is a suspenseful, police procedural with a medical focus so you know this ER nurse ATE. IT. UP. There is quite a bit of medical terminology BUT all the information is explained in a simplified way so don’t let that deter you if you’re not a science geek like me. 🤣

Was it brutal at times? Yes. Did I shy away from it? Heck no. That being said, some scenes are not easy to read. She meticulously writes about heavy topics; particularly the victims of assault and also the darkness of the predators. The characters are so powerfully depicted that I felt an array of emotions, from despair to anger. Slaughter holds nothing back in her descriptions of trauma.

There’s no huge unpredictable twist BUT it’s not necessary because the revelations are depraved enough. You’ll be picking your jaw up off the floor because it’s shocking and terrifying. Once again, she’s solidified her place as a FAVORITE, auto-buy author for me. I WILL be buying a copy to add to my KS collection! 🙌🏽 The audiobook is phenomenal; once again narrated by Kathleen Early, who always delivers with Slaughter’s books.

This book can be read as a standalone even though it is part of the Will Trent series. You can also catch episodes of the televised show, Will Trent, on ABC.

Audiobook/Thriller/Unabridged: I want to thank Netgalley for a copy of this audiobook.
I missed a lot. I've read Blindsighted and listened to Fallen. I had no problems figuring out what had been going on in the past.
The plot was way out there and the ending surprising.
And btw, book Will Trent is better than TV Will Trent.

A huge huge thanks to Blackstone Audio for an advanced copy of After That Night which is book 11 in the Will Trent series by Karin Slaughter.

I Love this series and After That Night was incredible! Like all Karin Slaughter, these aren't easy reads and this book is centered around the brutal rapes of young women in Atlanta. When something said brings Dr. Sara Linton back to the night that she was raped when she was a resident and it makes her think that despite the fifteen years something is connected.

Will and Sara are so cute in the book. I love their relationship and some of the funny scenes with Amanda discussing their upcoming wedding. I liked how Will and Faith went behind Amanda's back to continue working on this case and the kitchen crime board at Faith's house.

Easily a 5 star book. If you haven't read any Will Trent, do yourself a favor and read the Grant County series and then Will Trent and you'll understand why her books are so amazing even if they are disturbing and can be so hard to read.

Kathleen Early's narration is Karin Slaughter to me. I need to listen to Karin's books because I started listening to the first Grant County and honestly the wonderful narration hooked me into this twisted world and I've tried reading without listening and I need Kathleen early narrating these books to me.

Yessss. This was everything I hoped it would be. The characters were amazing, per usual. Sara was a big part of this one, and I loved that. The twists were shocking. I listened to this and read it. I highly recommend this as either! The audiobook was especially well done.
