This book was a classic fake dating story.

The characters were a little flat at times, but overall, they had a good amount of personality. The story was, like I said, a classic. But because it was a classic, it's been done before, and this wasn't really anything unique. Different characters, same story.

Thank you to St Martin's Pub for an arc of this book!

This book is an opposites-attract romance featuring Olive Murphy, an ER nurse with a fear of flying, and Stella Soriano, a copilot. Their chance encounter leads to a fake dating scheme that takes them on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, as they navigate whether their connection will soar to new heights or crash and burn.

This was very cute and very sapphic. I loved the characters and enjoyed their instant spark and connection. I think I read somewhere this was supposed to be slow burn but it is not. It is quick burn lol. And I like that sometimes.

This was cute, entertaining, and very soft. It helped me get out of a bit of a reading slump and kept me company in a lonely hotel room. I enjoyed it a lot!

Definitely one of my favorites so far this year. It's such an authentic and beautifully written story and I can't wait to read more from Andie Burke.

Olive is on her first ever flight and definitely nervous about it. But there's no time to stress about the flight when there's a medical emergency and she's the only medical professional in board! Olive handles the situation like a pro, but now she's grounded hours away from the marathon she's supposed to run in honor of her brother. Luckily, the gorgeous co-pilot Stella offers Olive a ride. Before long, Olive has agreed to fake date Stella to help her advance in her career. But the feelings become so much more than fake.

I'm getting increasingly skeptical of fake dating premises in romance, but I loved the characters so much that I was willing to go along with it no matter how improbable. Both Olive and Stella are complex characters with complicated lives and I couldn't help wanting the best for them, especially Olive. There were moments where I was thinking "omg, just talk to each other," but I still really enjoyed this sapphic romance! Olive's relationship with her family was so sad but handled so well. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for future Andie Burke titles!

Sapphic slow burn.
Olive Murphy is kicking her brother's bucket list. Flying a plan - she hates flying, to Disney to compete in a race, Olive saves a life. As a result - Olive cannot get to the Disney. Until Stella, a pilot, offers to drive.
I really enjoyed the friendship - Olive and Stella have issues, yet learn to communicate minus a few misunderstandings. They offer each other support for their difficult family circumstances - I'm a huge fan of found family.
Sweet romance.
This narrator really isn't for me.

Fly With Me is a sapphic, fake dating romance with so much tension and longing. It will have you yelling at them to just kiss already!

This romance definitely digs beneath the surface and covers several difficult topics which made Olive and Stella feel so much more real (family member illnesses/injuries, anxiety, the good ol’ boys club at work). In particular, grieving a loved one who is still alive but has a terminal illness/injury really hit hard for me, and all the feelings that Olive and Stella were feeling for their respective family member came rushing back at me.

I loved how they became each other’s support even before they recognized their feelings for one another. I’m petitioning now for Olive’s best friend and fellow ER nurse, Derek, get his own book.

- Type A, perfectionist Pilot/ flying-phobic ER nurse
- Fake dating
- Opposites attract
- Friends to lovers
- Emotional themes
- Mental health rep

If you are an audiobook listener, I highly recommend the audio. Chelsea Stephens (a new to me narrator) did a fantastic job of creating separate voices for each character.

I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.

I really enjoyed listening to Fly With Me! Olive and Stella had fantastic chemistry and character development. This story was a little spicy, a lot sweet, had some drama and lots of emotion. Narration was done very well - I'd highly recommend listening to this one!

Thank you to Macmillan Audio for this ALC!

Olive and Stella were really well-developed and had genuinely fantastic chemistry, and most of the side characters and overarching plot stuff was fleshed out really well, too. It was enough to make me look past my personal pet peeve about evil ex plotlines.

Greatly enjoyed this. A heavy read in spots but also compelling. The relationship built between Olive and Stella was very cute and a fun time to see them grow and learn. This was a little spicy but maybe a 2/5 on the spice scale. But I did like the read, it was drama, it was cute, and it was emotional.

This one is for the sapphics! Fly With Me is an incredible opposites to lovers story that starts with fake dating, witty banter, and palpable chemistry.⁣

Nervous flyer and ER nurse Olive ends up saving a man’s life on her first ever flight, but she winds up stranded away from her destination. Stella, the copilot of her flight, offers to drive Olive to her destination. After spending time together, they decide to capitalize on their viral fame by fake dating in order to help each other…but they quickly learn that the fake feelings don’t seem all that fake. ⁣

I absolutely adored Olive and Stella. Olive is a chaotic mess with a toxic family that honestly needed to be yeeted into the sun. Stella is a bubbly, over achiever who is determined to do whatever it takes to finally get the promotion she is long overdue.⁣

While I adored all of the moments that Olive and Stella shared because their chemistry was incredible, I also really enjoyed seeing each of them as a whole person with a slew of heavy hitting issues that they individually grapple with. This is what really took this romance to a very realistic setting for me since they have to navigate their own grief and how to come together without projecting onto the other. ⁣

Honestly, Olive and Stella are the type of people that I would just love to sit down and have wine with! ⁣

If you’re looking for a steamy queer romance that will have you grinning by the end, pick this one up!

What an adorable meet-cute story that had me both laughing and tearing up!

Featuring a f/f romance between an ER nurse named Olive, and a Pilot named Stella. Their connection and chemistry was so strong, and although their romance was sweet, I loved how spicy it was too!

The fake dating trope has quickly become one of my favorite tropes, for the fun plot it always provides, but I really appreciated the heavier topics of grief, depression, anxiety, and making hard medical decisions too.

🎧I mainly listened to the audiobook format, narrated by Chelsea Stephens, and I thought she was a great choice to bring each character and emotion to life.

WHAT TO EXPECT
-ff romance/sapphic love story
-opposites attract
-fake dating
-miscommunication
-great banter!
-anxiety/depression rep

*many thanks to St Martins Press, Macmillan Audio and Netgalley for the gifted copy for review

A Magical Journey of Love and Healing

Fly With Me by Andie Burke is, without a doubt, one of the cutest books I’ve had the pleasure of reading in a very long time. It’s a masterful combination of the “opposites attract” trope, woven seamlessly with a mixture of others that blend together harmoniously to create a truly heartwarming story.

The novel introduces us to Olive, a character living her life not just for herself but also for someone else, a concept that becomes heartbreakingly clear as the story unfolds. Without giving away any spoilers, the tragic story of Olive’s family is revealed gradually, adding layers of depth to her character and making her struggles all the more relatable. (Believe me, there’s an entire review I could write about her family dynamic.)

Olive, an ER nurse with a paralyzing fear of flying, finds herself on a journey of a lifetime when she crosses paths with the gorgeous and driven co-pilot of the very plane she dreads boarding. Andie Burke crafts their meeting (yet another spoiler I don’t want to reveal) with such finesse that the magic between them leaps off every page. It’s a connection that’s difficult to put into words, but Burke’s skillful storytelling allows readers to tangibly feel their bond, even in the early stages of their relationship/friendship.

I must admit that I haven’t been so engrossed in a book in quite some time. Fly With Me made me laugh, cry, and everything in between. What truly sets this book apart is its ability to keep a smile on my face throughout, even when life outside its pages is challenging. It serves as the perfect “pick-me-up” read, a testament to Andie Burke’s talent for crafting stories that touch the heart.

Moreover, Chelsea Stephens’ narration elevates the book to an entirely new level. She expertly captures the emotions and inner turmoil of each character, enhancing the overall experience. Stephens’s performance adds an extra layer of authenticity and emotion, making Fly With Me an absolute joy to listen to. In fact, her narration was so exceptional that it enhanced an already stellar book, leading me to wish I could give it six stars out of five.

In conclusion, Fly With Me was a delightful journey through love, healing, and self-discovery. Andie Burke’s storytelling prowess and Chelsea Stephens’s remarkable narration make it a must-listen for anyone in search of a heartwarming, feel-good story. It’s a book that not only tugs at your heartstrings but also leaves you with a lasting smile, reminding us all that love can truly conquer even the darkest of fears.

4.25ish stars

This was a sweet, funny, dramatic, and fun queer romcom. It had interesting characters, an intriguing initial hook, and a compelling plot and conflicts to follow. I really enjoyed it, I’ve already recommended it to a couple friends, and I can’t wait to see what else the writer creates.

I did enjoy a lot of this book but I think the blurb was a tad misleading on this one. I thought it was going to be a funny romcom and this one had more serious elements than I was anticipating. I will give the author credit for trying to balance out the heavy with some lightness.

I did like the tension, the grief and mental health rep was very realistic and as someone who has worked in healthcare I also appreciated the healthcare side of the book. The fake dating aspect was a little hard to believe the need/ reason but overall it was a good debut novel and I’m excited to see where the author goes next.

2.5 Stars. I didn't read the full description so I was unaware this was a fake dating book. I don't really enjoy fake dating books and I really really really don't enjoy them when only one person is benefiting for the duplicity. In this case Stella was receiving a potential promotion whereas Olive was receiving time with Stella... and nothing else. The unbalanced dynamic in their fake relationship makes Olive seem sad and desperate and makes Stella seem manipulative. Additionally I really really struggled with the set up of the book. The level of viral the video on the plane went is insane given it was resolved with an epipen and the fact people were still talking about the even weeks later is bizarre given how quickly things that go viral fall back into obscurity. The external drama of the book was over the top (seriously did we need a psycho ex, sick father, familial estrangement, and dying brother) to the point the main romance between Olive and Stella crossed the line into boring, especially once they were fake dating. I also really disliked that we had almost no resolution to Olive's family issues given how prominent they were throughout the story. The book also had issues with tokenization in pursuit of representation. I really really really wish I liked this book more. There should be more sapphic romance from mainstream publishers, but this book didn't work for me.
I really really enjoyed the audiobook narrator. She kept me engaged and made the characters easy to follow. I honestly enjoyed the book more when I was listening compared to when I was reading.

It’s like Snakes on a Plain, but instead of Samuel L Jackson it’s two delightful Queer women, and instead of snakes it’s anxiety and stress 😂
This book was so much fun. I laughed out loud over and over again, and shed a tear or twelve on a few different occasions. Both FMCs were ridiculously relatable, and it really added to how much I connected with them. The side characters were so extreme, and I loved them! The ones that were meant to be loved have a space in my heart, and the ones that were meant to be disliked, I hated with my entire being.
If you’re looking for a fantastic Sapphic contemporary romance that hits in all emotional corners, this is the one for you.
