"What Self-Esteem Training Does Your Child Need Today? A Parental Guide And Coloring Book" by Jana Capri and Charan Díaz presents an innovative blend of parenting guidance and interactive activities aimed at nurturing children's self-esteem. The book's unique approach combines a parental guide with a coloring book, providing an engaging and educational resource for families.
One of the book's commendable strengths is its dual-purpose nature. The combination of a parental guide and coloring book adds an interactive element that may resonate well with both parents and children. The guide offers valuable insights into self-esteem training, while the coloring book aspect provides a creative outlet for children to express themselves.
The authors' writing style is accessible and informative, making the guide approachable for parents seeking to enhance their child's self-esteem. The use of a coloring book format adds an element of fun to the learning process, potentially making the material more engaging for children.
However, some readers may find the integration of the guide and coloring book to be a bit disjointed. While the dual format is creative, a more seamless integration of the two components could enhance the overall cohesiveness of the book.
In summary, "What Self-Esteem Training Does Your Child Need Today?" offers a creative and informative approach to fostering children's self-esteem. Jana Capri and Charan Díaz's combination of a parental guide with a coloring book provides a unique resource for families looking to engage in meaningful discussions and activities around self-esteem. While the integration could be smoother, the book serves as a valuable tool for parents seeking to support their children's emotional development.
This book was so adorable, I loved everything about it, the illustrations were so well done, they suited the book perfectly, the story was amazing as well. I’m sure the kids are going to be just as enthralled with this amazing book as I was. I will definitely recommend! Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this early copy
This is a great workbook for kids. I think it would be best for elementary aged children, starting in first or second grade. I received an electronic copy, so we weren’t able to color or write in the workbook, but we talked about the topics together. It touches on important topics such as strengths, emotions, abilities, fears, and habits. I do like the writing prompts and discussion better than the coloring pages, but maybe that resonates with the younger children. Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for an advanced reading copy in exchange for my honest review.
I felt like this book was very timely for my family, and that my daughter, who is 12, could benefit from some of these exercises. They were simple enough to understand, but deep enough (like the constructive criticism graphic map) that I found them useful for even myself.
There are many simple writing prompts in here that are centered around resilience, and learning how to not be a people pleaser, and I really appreciate that. I think that if you have a child who can do these kinds of structured writing activities, it will be helpful for you. but if you have a child who needs a more creative approach, that this will not be something that will get completed. It’s a lot of sitting down and thinking, or writing, and coloring.
I would have liked to see some actual activities, (incorporating playground exercises, for example or trying something hard that they want to try but have never tried) along with some mantras, or scripts to help build resilience while attempting activities.
But overall, I really liked what the book was, and I will use it with my child. I received a review copy from Net Galley.
This is a wonderful guide for parenting on how to build their child's self worth. There are exercises and clear paths provided to help parents show their children how to see positive in situations, communicate, self-care, practice gratitude, etc. Very powerful tools!
