Tangled in Texas, the second book in the Texas Rodeo Series by Kari Lynn Dell is a second chance story of life and love. Delon Sanchez’s life may look calm on the outside or at least it used to look that way. However, even before his major injury, it was a hot mess. The very same can be said for Tori Patterson. Both have worked so hard for where they are in life but they both carry a ton of baggage. Now after a perhaps career ending injury the two of them meet up again.

This slow burn romance does a powerful job of showing how the characters needed to address attitudes, issues and struggles in their lives. No one thing will make their lives perfect but working together especially on Delon’s rehab brought it all out, along with feelings that they had never truly addressed. Throughout the story, resilience, healing, and acceptance are woven.

An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book is all about seizing second chances and rethinking the direction of your life, and as a second chance romance this is all I wanted! Delon, who is the ex of the first FMC in the series, has kind of taken for granted what his life will be - he is a successful bull rider, he has a kid he adores and he assumes that he’ll finish up his rodeo career, walk into a job in his family’s trucking company and get back with his ex and the family that they have created. But by the end of the first book, all that comes crushing down and he must now deal with a career-threatening injury. And who should be his new physical therapist? Tori the woman he had tangled with years ago. Tori is also running - her husband has died in a tragic accident and being the daughter of a senator means that she is trying to avoid her grief becoming gossip fodder for the masses. Both reeling from their brief relationship when they were young and trying to make up for the mistakes that they had made - Delon who had treated her as convenient even when he wanted her to be more and Tori who had set Delon up to fail in a test he didn’t even know he was taking.
Both characters are dealing with a boatload of issues - both have difficult family lives and histories and their fear of being all in when the other isn’t holds them back and causes most of the tension in the book. Delon is afraid to mix his two worlds and Tori is resentful of the fact he is keeping her at arms length. A lot of their issues stem from their past, and they spent most of the book trying to come to terms with it both as a couple and in their individual lives. Delon feels left out of his family business, but it is partially his fault for pulling back, and Tori feels lonely and left out socially, but it is partially her fault for her distrust in others. Both actually work on these issues across their life and it is not just a ‘love fixes everything’ story. I really enjoyed both of these characters, and they felt like realistic and flawed people. Their relationship conclusion felt satisfying and earned, and their own personal struggles felt tackled in a rewarding way. There is a wide cast of characters in the book, and there is definitely a lot being set up for their own future romance!

I loved this book. I love this author and this whole series has been enjoyable.

Tangled in Texas is about a rodeo bull rider (Delon) that gets injured and is worried about losing his career. The FMC (Tori) is his PT who he has history with. It's a second chance romance filled with angst. Tori is dealing with the loss of her husband as well as moving back to her old hometown to get away from her loss. She's depressed, he's depressed and a lot of the book is them moving past their history.

I enjoyed learning about their families, learning about the rodeo and seeing other characters from within the story. Delon has a kid from a one night stand with a family friend in the past. It is a slow burn.

I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in authentic rodeo cowboy books, who enjoys slow burn and second chance romances. It has complicated family relationships and is a well thought out, well paced book.

Deleon Sanchez was riding the bull and then he wasn’t. He also was a bull rider but now with his knee a mee and his career probably over he first must look at going to physical therapy. Once there he walks in and walks into Torri Patterson, the same one that seven years ago they were together but then they weren’t. Neither talk about the past until much later in the story. And both have past issues that they each need to work on. Torri has a lot going on being the daughter of a Senator and also working as a roper in the rodeo. But as you go through the story each deals with seven years of stuff and each needs to decide what they want. A good book with good characters. At times I felt like a lot was going on but the author does tie it all together at the end.

I recently read Tangled in Texas by Kari Lynn Dell, and while the blurb caught my attention, I found it hard to stay fully engaged in the story. I can't quite put my finger on the issue, but it just didn't grip me like I thought it would.

The story follows Delon Sanchez, a rodeo rider whose career is in jeopardy due to a knee injury. He is determined to do whatever it takes to regain his mobility, and he is surprised to find that his new physical therapist is Tori Patterson, a woman he had a fling with seven years ago.

Tori is the daughter of a senator, but she wants to create her own destiny and overcome the past setbacks in her life while still pursuing her passion for roping. Even though several years have passed, Delon and Tori still have an undeniable chemistry between them, and it's apparent that their feelings for each other have not faded away completely. The romance between them is a gradual process and takes time to develop.

3.5 🌟
Second chance romance is not really my thing, but cowboys are my absolute weakness, so I was willing to give it a go, and I'm glad I did.
The story was fun, light-hearted, and romantic, with feel-good vibes. The characters were mostly likeable, though at times Delon's actions had my burying my head in my hands in exasperation!
The struggles that Delon and Tori went through as the story progressed felt very realistic, and that just drew me into the story more as they felt like real people instead of characters in a book.
I also loved the character development throughout the story, and the author did a great job of making the reader interested in the side characters as well as the main characters (I want Gil to get his happily ever after!).
I do like my romance to have more spice than this book had, but it was definitely more of a cute romance than a spicy one.

After reading the first title in the Texas Rodeo Series, I was surprised to see the next book followed Delon as a main love interest. I enjoyed most of all the aspects of rodeo and ranch life in this book, but I was also surprised by the nuanced portrayal of grief and loss that this book examines from different perspectives as the relationship between Delon and Tori reignites and progresses.

The romance was not the highlight for me and that is probably where this book falls flat most in my opinion. A little less slow in the slow burn would have been to my preference, but if that is something you really enjoy, this book may appeal to you.

My rating: 3 stars
Spice 🌶

Read this book for…
- Second chance
- Slow burn

Thoughts:
Delon and Tori are complicated individuals with a history. They meet again after almost a decade. Each of them are going through a tough patch in their lives. Delon is a professional bull rider but unfortunately got injured and is coming to terms with the painful realities of his knee. Tori is back home and the two meet at her clinic. Full disclosure, this is a slow burn second chance romance. The first time they meet again, there was this tense palpable chemistry palpable but those two my god have issues, a lot of which surrounds communication. Delon does not think he is good enough for her and Tori thinks he does not care enough. However, their journey to one another is beautiful.

This is my first time reading a work from this author. She is an incredible writer. The way she creates this world around Delon and Tori enraptures you right from the get-go. The rating I give is my own frustration with how Delon handled their initial break up and all his mistakes and how the characters just could not communicate. There was just too much drama and misunderstanding at times. I was so darn mad at both characters and their inability to communicate. I think this alone speaks highly of the ability of the author to create such captivating personalities that you inevitably get drawn in, though.

I absolutely thoroughly enjoyed this. Tori and Delon have history and when she comes back to Panhandle to escape being in the public eye she ends up being his physical therapist. Bronco rider Delon nearly lost it all in thirty two seconds and is left with a shattered knee and an uncertain future. Can Tori give him a future and will they rekindle what they once had? There is so much simmering tension between these two characters right from the start. I liked all of the characters and there was real depth to each one, you know exactly as to why they were how they were. I enjoyed the fact that this had quite an in-depth story running through it and wasn’t just about the romance, plus it also covered many different relationships and not just Tori and Delon’s. I became quite invested in the two main characters and even though it’s not a short read I found myself wizzing through it! Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. I’ll definitely be looking out for the others in this series!

I really enjoyed this book and this town! You can read this as a standalone but note that it is book 2 in a series. You now know who ends up with who from book 1, but I am intrigued enough to where I may go back and read their story This is a second chance romance with a dash of not good enough vibes.

Delon has been on the rise in the bull riding world until an accident that leaves him unable to ride and unsure about the future. At his first appointment for his knee he runs into Tori, the woman that disappeared without a trace along with his heart seven years ago. The good thing that came out of Tori leaving is his son who he had with his best friend after wallowing about Tori leaving. The bad thing that came out of it are his insecurities about why she left. He knows that he could have handled what they had differently. He was the guy who called when he was back from an event. He never checked in in between with her even though he really wanted to. He never thought to ask for more or to see what she wanted. He didn't fully realize what she meant to him until she was gone. Now she is back and willing to give him another chance, but is she here to lay down roots? Or will she dash away into the night like she did before?

Tori is going through the stages of grief since her husband passed away unexpectedly. Instead of staying and being strong for the family, she runs back "home." Home for her is a little different though since her dad is a senator. Her life has an added element of publicity that she can't stand. A part of her thinks she came back to town for the man she left all those years ago. The man who failed the test she setup for him without even telling him what it was. The man who is now on the broken side too with an unknown future. She is determined to help him get on the other side of this. She is the only one besides his brother who really sees the real man behind the mask. They decide to rekindle their old flame and she is all in making it clear she wants to see where this goes. But Delon has pulled back. He doesn't seem to want to mix her with the other part of his life- his world before she got there. How can she show him that she is where she wants to be?

I really liked the depth of these characters and how they were both broken and found the light together through it. Tori was dealing with the grief of her husband, and Delon is dealing with the grief of his career maybe being over as well as this idea of a perfect family in his head now over since his son's mother is engaged to someone else. This was a little on the slower side which is why it took me a minute to finish, but once I got invested I was in. I am looking forward to reading more about these characters and especially Gil's story!! Of course he is the last one LOL.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! I hope you enjoy this one as much as I did.

I really enjoyed this story. It is the first I have read in the series and I loved not only the main characters but those that will pop up in future stories as they were all so different and interesting.
The detail in this book is what hooked me.
So glad I stumbled across this author.

This was a fantastic second-chance romance between Delon and Tori!

I fell in love with Delon from the start. A rodeo guy who had a career-ending knee injury. He is trying to decide if he can heal and get back out there, while trying to deal with his family, the mother of his son, and his new physical therapist, Tori.

This was my first book by Kari Dell and it definitely won't be the last!

Delon has lost his carreer and want it back and Tori a former girlfriend is his only option. After 7 years she is back in town and his new physical therapist.

A wonderful lovestory about secrets and mistakes in the past.
Wonderful characters with huge backpacks to carry.

I loved the story and the setting, I loved the ending and the whole story.

Have fun reading!

This is a second chance romance. The FMC Tori returns home as a physical therapist. The MMC Delon is a bronco rider. After he gets hurt he reconnects with Tori when she is his physical therapist. This is a slow burn romance. The MCs get to know each other again through the story. I normally don’t like slow burn but I do feel like it fits in this story.

3.5 stars.
An intense romance between two complex people, full of lost time, miscommunication and misunderstandings, “Tangled in Texas”, by Kari Lynn Dell, is also a cherished opportunity to meet some unforgettable characters who would be charismatic leads in following stories.
Delon and Tori are wonderful characters: strong and wounded, extremely resilient. Their second chance at love is hardly earned as we learn about the absurd ending of their previous entanglement.
It’s great to watch leads that love each other so intensely and passionately.
I liked getting to kwow the ways they have been pinning for each other, the growth their characters went through and the doubts and pain they endured.
Great depiction of the rodeo universe as usual with this author, a bittersweet experience as we won’t enjoy it again unfortunately.
The secondary characters are excellent – Gil, Cole, Shawnee, Beni – and it’s wonderful to be able to read and enjoy them as leads in other stories of the series.
Some parts, particularly the technical details of the rodeo world, made the flow slow a bit.

I really enjoyed this story!

A Senator’s daughter and a bareback rider – what could possibly go wrong…

I thought that it was a great storyline and the pace for the book was great.

The characters were great and I loved the different personalities and how they worked together.

Romantic and sexy

It is 4 stars from me for this one – highly recommended!

I skimmed sooooooo much of this because it was unnecessary rodeo jargon that added absolutely nothing to the plot and just made everything extra detailed and wordy, but I still could tell you everything that happened. Does that make sense??

Regardless, it was fine?? We love a second chance, but we don't love a second chance that stems from assumptions and terrible miscommunication and also a lot of this plot made no sense? Like it was fine, but there was a lot of SAYING things were growing between them again but not a lot of SHOWING, ya know? We spent too much time on their individual rodeo careers and I was like ok but MORE PASSION MORE PASSION MORE ENERGY (tik tok voice) would have been nice.

Nonetheless it was cute, quick (cause I skimmed) and I would definitely try this author again. I love a cowboy romance.

Delon has been injured in the rodeo, and has to do physical therapy. Being assigned to his old girlfriend is not what he expected, neither did she, but the sparks fly. Good story overall, and although dragged a little at times I did enjoy it and would recommend this book and series.

Tangled in Texas by Kari Lynn Dell is such a wonderful book to read.

This book have a high sexual tension, slow burn, sweet romance, past lover, family issue, suspense, angst, heart breaking moments and tears. I just love how sweet Tori and Delon become. At first, I thought that this book will kind of heavy to read with all those adult problem. However, the more I read the more I love how Tori and Delon solve their own family problem and also rebuild their romance. It's feel more close to a reality which open my eyes and my mind. Sometime, we just need to accept and learn how to live our lives. This book is more than a romance book, it's shows maturity of their characters.

I'll definitely be waiting for more books from Kari Lynn Dell and I'm looking forward to read Cole's story.
