"The Locked Door" by Freida McFadden is a chilling and captivating read that will leave you breathless. From the very first page, I was drawn into the dark and twisted world of Nora Davis, an unsuspecting daughter of a serial killer. As the story unfolds, McFadden skillfully reveals more about Nora's past, keeping me on the edge of my seat until the very end. The plot is masterfully crafted, full of twists and turns that will leave readers guessing until the final reveal. McFadden's writing is both haunting and beautiful, making this book a must-read for any fan of psychological thrillers.

Im a huge fan of McFadden but found this book to be disappointing. I did not connect with Nora, nor did the scenarios appear believable. Giving this title 3 stars because I was interested enough to finish it but I was not satisfied with this story.

This was the first McFadden that had me guessing until the shocking end! I think that fans will really enjoy this title as well as new thriller readers.

This is one of Frieda McFadden's best novels. It is about a woman, Nora who's father was arrested for killing many young women. It is a story of intrigue and has lots of twists and turns. Nora is a surgeon and lives a very lonely solitary life. It seems she is afraid of everything. Nora's life starts to unravel when she finds out one of her patients has been murdered. And then another one and the murders are just like the way her father did them--same style and the women look like his "type". This is when the novel gets good and has lots of twists and turns and a suprise ending! I recommend this book--it will keep you awake!

I can see what the hype is about with Freida McFadden because I was pretty captivated by this book from the beginning but the ending fell a little short for me. I did like trying to figure out whether or not Nora was following in her fathers footsteps and being a copy cat killer. I’m eager to read more from her soon!

Somehow this was my first book by freida McFadden but it won’t be my last!
Such a clever and interesting mystery/thriller - it was so engaging from start to finish. There was even a bit of humour in there too to make the read even easier.
This book will keep you on your toes the whole way though. It was so easy to keep reading because of the short chapters and wanting to know more. The plot twist was amazing!! I won’t say any more as I don’t want to spoil it but wow!
This is a great read and you should definitely give it a chance. Overall it was a quick easy and enjoyable read.

I absolutely loved this one! In my opinion, this is one of Freida's best. I have now read every book she has written and I am so looking forward to her future releases. I love how fast paced her books are and that I can never put them down. The Locked Door was no exception to that!! This book had a plot twist that left my jaw on the floor.

Nora Davis is a successful surgeon living a comfortable life, one she's worked hard for. So when two of her patients turn up murdered, things aren't looking great. But what no one knows is, Nora has a secret. These murders mimic that of a serial killer captured over 20 years ago, The Handyman, who abducted and tortured woman in his basement. He also happens to be Nora's father. So is it truly a copycat, or is Nora hiding something in her own basement?
I've read a few McFadden books now and I always think it's better heading in blind. I was in the mood for a fast-paced thriller, one where I would be kept guessing with characters I wasn't sure I could trust and The Locked Door certainly delivered. Anything that involves serial killers is up my street so this was just the perfect pick for me. I really liked Nora even though I wasn't sure if she was good or not, I thought she was a really interesting MC to read and learn about. I've kept this vague because I'd hate to spoil anything for anyone but the big finale had me shook! It's such a treat so be sure to add this to your TBR!
Thank you to NetGalley, Poisoned Pen Press and Freida McFadden for this copy of The Locked Door! A truly dark, fun and twisty novel to curl up with!
* Please look up trigger warnings before reading *

This was so engrossing. I could not stop reading, and there were quite a few twists I didn't see coming (though the ending was a bit hard to believe to me). Overall, it's a 4.5 star read to me because of some of the loose ends.

Easy, quick read just like all of her novels, Freida McFadden is the plot twist queen 🙌🏼 not my fav story but it wasn’t bad either. I love reading her books in between series on my TBR because I know it’ll be good and easy to get through. This story was a little slow paced for me but honestly it’s my own fault for comparing every suspenseful story to The Housemaid lol 3 🌟🌟🌟 because the plot twist was not what I was expecting & it was a job well done in wrapping up the storyline. Would def recommend if you want something for spooky season that’s easy and fun !!

My thanks to Poisoned Pen Press, Freida McFadden and Netgalley.
Frieda is an author that I occasionally like. Her stories can be so fundamentally different. I'm still uncertain whether this is a good thing or bad. Nope! That's bullshit. Different is a good thing!
I like getting arcs from her. Why? Because it makes me ornery when I buy one of her crap books. And yes, contrary to a lot of people's opinions, she can and has written crap.
This book wasn't so much in the crap department. I did take my time reading it. That right there does say something. I often take time reading some books. Hell, check out my currently reading stuff on Goodreads, and there's quite a bit of slow, 🐌 reading going on! Freida and I will never be o good terms, and personally I think if she'd stop trying to put out so damn much, and just concentrate on a damned good story? I think she'd go far. The woman can write. What I want is a messed up story that she's spent some time in the development of. I'm other words, slow the output down, and concentrate on one spectacular book a year. Sure, it will occasionally fail, but other times? That's why we readers read. I think that McFadden could be really good. I just wish she'd go deeper.
So yes, this story gets a half rating from me. Decent story, but I expect more.
My advice would be to stop putting out 3 mediocre books a year, and do what I think McFadden is capable of. Good storytelling.
For now? Sadly, I must bid adieu to Freida.
2 1/2 stars rounded up to 3.
It's still just 2 and a few stars.

Thank you for a free arc of this book by one of my favorite authors. Nora is the daughter of a serial killer and she leads a difficult life...but is she also a serial killer? Or is she a doctor that saves lives?? This book does a great job of keeping that suspense going of a suspicious narrator. You dont know who to trust or what is really going on. A great thriller and a fun ride.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publsihing house and the author for the opportunity to read a comlimetary copy of this book in return for a review based upon mt honest opinion.
Another great book by Freida McFadden! She hooked me right from the start with this book, lots of twists and turns and I so did not see that final twist coming. My only small complaint would be that after the final twist, I felt like the remainder of the book wasn't really necessary.
Nora is a surgeon, she loves her job but she hides a past that no one knows about. Nora's father is an infamous serial killer, he was arrested when she was 11. She has changed her name and tried to move past it. But someone knows who she is, someone has been killing in the same manner as her father, someone is watching her; but is Nora who and what she says she is, or is she something darker. Great read!

I love how her books have short chapters. I also enjoyed how it kept going back to the story of her with the little girl. I really thought it would be one way and not the other.
The ending really threw me. I wondered if it would be the Dr. the whole time.

As dark and suspenseful as McFadden's other novels, although not quite as compelling as The Housemaid series. Thanks to the publisher for the ARC.

Thanks net galley and Freda McFadden for this amazing thriller it actually kept me up at night reading it as could not put it down, superb does not come near what I thought about it.
Nora is a successful surgeon, but her father is a psychopathic murderer who has killed at least thirty woman without any remorse he’s a monster and all Nora wants to do is to forget all about him and get on with her life.
Nora changed her name and hoped no one would ever find out who her father was.
But that was not going to happen someone has found out about her and is making Nora very scared.
I never guessed the finale about this amazing book.

Ohhh Freida you are so good! I have read 4 of her thrillers in the past few months and have fallen for all of them! She is a fantastic writer and always keeps the twists coming!

How Freida McFadden can keep her day job as a surgeon is baffling to me, keeping current with reading her novels is an almost full time job. While they are all good, I especially enjoyed this one. Nora (also a successful surgeon) keeps her private life to herself. I would too if my father was a notorious serial killer. The secret is forced out when Nora’s patient is killed in the same style as her father’s victims. We are off and running with a fast paced and well executed thriller that kept me on my toes and on my couch until I was done.

Freida McFadden knows how to write easy-to-read page-turners. This one was suspenseful and featured intriguing dual timelines, well-executed misdirection, and red herrings that kept me compulsively turning the pages. I was intrigued by the straightforward voice and character of our murderous heiress, FMC narrator, Nora Davis, aka Nora Nierling. Unfortunately, I've got the type of overactive brain that will inevitably attempt to guess the "whodunit" in twisty psychological thrillers, often spoiling the fun for myself. wish could just go with the flow and enjoy the ride.
