🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 "The Locked Room" is a total page-turner! I couldn't put it down.
This thriller kicks off with Nora Davis, a successful surgeon leading a quiet life. Little does she know, her past holds some dark secrets. When one of her young patients is murdered in a gruesome way that mirrors her father's crimes, Nora's world gets turned upside down. She's convinced that someone is setting her up for this heinous crime.
The tension and suspense in this book are off the charts. Every twist and revelation left me on the edge of my seat. Nora's character is relatable, and her journey is a rollercoaster of resilience and determination. The story delves into themes like family, trauma, and the inescapable impact of our past.
If you're into nail-biting thrillers that keep you guessing, "The Locked Room" is a must-read. It's a spine-tingling, heart-pounding experience that'll leave you with chills long after you've finished. Highly recommend! 📚🔍😱 #BookReview #TheLockedRoom #Thriller #MustRead

Wow what a twist the last 20% of this book! Freida yet again did an amazing job! I was locked in this whole book, and what a wild ride it was! I thought I knew who the killer was and then it wasn’t that person at all. I absolutely loved the flashback’s of Nora’s childhood.
Freida McFadden is an auto buy for me! I love how binge worthy all her books are.
Thank you so much NetGalley for this Arc for an honest review.
This book is a mystery/thriller with different point of views from the characters and beautifully written. The timelines were also very well written.
I read this book in a day and I never looked back! The twist and the plot were pretty easy to identify but the different POV's kept me intrigued to see how everything was going to unfold. A couple of the characters were so unlikable that it made it hard to feel bad or connect with them in any way. I do wish that the ending would've given a little more, I wanted to know how the characters dealt with the aftermath.
Overall I give this 5 out 5 because it really was a great book and I will definitely read more from this Author. I enjoyed the thrill of the plot and its twists.
I liked this much better than the housemaid series by the same author.
In this case, I thought the two timelines were done very well. I kept wanting to go back to the 26 year old timeline and read about little Nora. Freida did a great job keeping me engaged with the story and the characters.
The idea of a copy cat serial killer of your father trying to frame you, was definitely a new one for me. While I love thrillers and scary movies, I did feel like this had a bit too much of the “don’t go into that room” or à la Pretty Little Liars, a lot could’ve been resolved if Nora had gone to the police early on.
I really enjoyed the tension of seeing some of the darkness in Nora and trying to figure out if she would end up being a completely unreliable narrator who had followed down her father’s past. I loved the end chapter from Harper’s perspective showing what Nora will do to help people who deserve it.
Also, while I may not remember everything from college, I would definitely remember a guy who I dated for 3 months. Seems a bit of a reach that Nora really didn’t recognize her ex.

I have been hearing about Freida for a while now and I excited to start this book. I haven’t read a ton of domestic thrillers but I have read several of KMod’s. This book was like KMod light. At one time or another I was suspicious of pretty much everyone and was curious how this all played out. I did ultimately guess the true killee but was completely wrong about why. So that was a fun twist.
I really enjoyed the Freida paid attention to minute details and was reasonably confident that the medical parts of the book were accurate. But I thought the plot relied too heavily on the brilliant surgeon being not so brilliant.
I am a bit confused about what the purpose of the flashbacks with the classmate was and felt it was a bit unnecessary. I also wish the information dropped in the epilogue has been set up a little better. I would have liked to see more clues about that.
Nora was eleven years old when the police showed up and arrested her dad as a serial killer. She always wondered why he was so secretive and what he was doing futzing around in the basement all the time. Now grown up Nora has become a surgeon when suddenly her patients start disappearing and showing up dead-bearing the same signature her father used in his murders. The author does a pretty decent job of keeping you guessing on what is really going on. I wish there had been a bit more backstory with some of the secondary characters because when Nora considered some of these people as suspects there wasn't much past for any of them to go on-just superficial things happening in the now that might lead her to think they had something to do with it. Didn't figure out the twist at the end but also did not buy into the "obvious" suspects either. Fun read. Breezed right through it.
3.5 stars rounded up.
Super quick, suspenseful and disturbing read. 😱

Freida McFadden always gives me a psychological thriller that's a quick read and I'm invested!
Years ago Aaron Nieling was sentenced to prison as a serial killer after killing 30+ women. He was dubbed "The Handyman" as he locked these women in the basement workshop of his home. His family had no idea, until his daughter made a discovery and his house of cards came down.
Twenty six years have passed and Nora is now a surgeon in her thirties. She's in practice with another surgeon, Philip. She has changed her last name to Davis, her maternal grandmother's name. It's the anniversary of her father's capture. He still sends her letters, which she doesn't read. No one knows he's her father. And she still cannot stand the smell of lavender which is what he used to cover the smell from his workshop.
When a couple of her former patients are found dead, mutilated just like her father's victims were, the police pay her a visit and she realizes she is a suspect.
The investigation and twist and turns kept me invested!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Freida McFadden knows how to write easy-to-read page-turners. This one was suspenseful and featured intriguing dual timelines, well-executed misdirection, and red herrings that kept me compulsively turning the pages. I was intrigued by the straightforward voice and character of our murderous heiress, FMC narrator, Nora Davis, aka Nora Nierling.
Unfortunately, I've got the type of overactive brain that will inevitably attempt to guess the "whodunit" in twisty psychological thrillers, often spoiling the fun for myself. I wish I could just go with the flow and enjoy the ride.
Out of personal curiosity, and maybe regrettably, I made a couple of Kindle notes before reaching the 55% mark (I'll keep it intentionally vague to avoid spoilers for others) and I was correct (This is why I can't have nice things.)
However, let me be clear – this isn't a shortcoming of the book itself. The plot remains engaging and Ms. McFadden maintained my interest and surprised me with many other contextual reveals. I still overall enjoyed this quick, gripping read. I’m definitely a little jaded by the genre and need to take a big break.
My heartfelt thanks to NetGalley, Poisoned Pen Press for the opportunity to read this work in exchange for an honest review.
Couldn’t put it down! Couldn’t wait to see how it ended, read it in only a few sittings! The main character was very interesting and it was interesting to see what she would do.
Thank you to #Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book. I loved the plot and it had me turn the pages quickly as I wanted to see how it would end. I would definitely recommend!!
This was exactly what I needed after dnfing another book this week. I devoured this in one day. It has my favourite, short chapters! The pacing was perfect, it kept me engaged the entire time. I was dying to know how everything unravels.
Fantastic psychological thrill that has you second guessing everything. Can’t wait to read more of McFadden’s backlist.
Nora is the daughter of a serial killer. Twenty-six years after his conviction Nora has changed her last name, graduated from medical school, and has become a successful surgeon. But, when several patients are murdered the crimes eerily mimic her father’s (who is still in prison) and Nora becomes the primary suspect.
I’ve enjoyed several books by Ms McFadden and I looked forward to this one as well. However, it was a bit of a disappointment. It has an interesting premise and, for the most part, I liked the main character (at least until the end). But, it seemed as though Nora, an intelligent woman, made some questionable decisions and jumped to many conclusions. But, to be fair, a lot of that could be chalked up to the sheer terror she must have felt.
So maybe, in the end, it was the final chapter that I didn’t enjoy and it definitely left me re-adjusting my overall impression of the book. But, more than that, it just felt flat, even though there were a couple of interesting twists. While I enjoyed this book, it seemed like something was missing and I still haven’t decided what that is. NetGalley provided an advance copy.

This was an easy/quick read! Pace was great.
Nora is a talented surgeon. Her father is a serial killer serving 18 life sentences in prison. Keeping her past concealed and sticking to her routine matters. When her patients end up being murdered with the same calling card her dad used, all she has built is in jeopardy. Who is trying to frame her? Who can she trust?
That ending came out of nowhere, didn’t see it coming!
Thanks NetGalley and publishers for the Arc of The locked door by the talented Freida McFadden.
I did not see that coming!! Couldn’t put it down and has twists galore.

The Locked Door by Freida McFadden
⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
This was a quick, typical thriller. The main character is a surgeon, and her patients start getting murdered. She is a suspect because her father is a known serial killer. The premise was very intriguing, but there wasn't much to hold my attention. Nothing that made me feel like "I need to know what happened!"
I liked The Housemaid a lot more and am really excited to pick up The Housemaid's Secret.

Such a great book! Twists and turns a plenty!
This book had me hooked from the beginning and I couldn't wait to finish it to see who the murderer was. It was engaging, and had an ending that I didn't see coming. The writing style was easy to follow; I really enjoyed this book.
