No one - I repeat, NO ONE writes a thriller like Frieda… and although I already had a long list of favourite titles in her repertoire, ‘The Locked Door’ quickly found its way to my top three!

The story follows Nora, a doctor striving to conceal her dark history from the world. It's a suspenseful journey as an investigation unfolds into the gruesome murders of two of her patients. Nora, who upholds a strict professional code, finds herself a suspect. The reason? Her father is serving a life sentence for eerily similar murders of young women. These crimes occurred in the basement of Nora's childhood home, prompting the police to question whether she was taught to be a killer too.

When I say I devoured this book, I mean it. I started and finished it in just a few hours, it was that good - and that impossible to put down!

I strongly recommend, and I wholeheartedly thank NetGalley, Hollywood Upstairs Press, and of course, Freida McFadden for the opportunity to read this before it was republished with a brand new cover earlier this month.

4.5 stars!

Freida McFadden has done it again, well she always does. I know that every time I pick up a Freida McFadden book, I'll be in for a fun ride and this book sure lived up to that!

I don't want to give too much away - If you've read any of her books before, you know how good she is with twists and turns.

I recommend this book to any thriller lover!

Thank you NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the ARC!

In typical Frieda fashion this book did not disappoint. The twists and turns kept me guessing until the end. Highly recommend.

I saw NONE of the twist coming!

This book is about Nora, a surgeon who happens to be the daughter of a serial killer. Throughout the whole story I was questioning wheter Nora was trustworthy or not. At times she seemed like a strong woman who is simply trying to get through her life with her past trauma and was trying to make good of her fathers faults, but there was also something slightly unlikeable about her that I could not put my finger on.

The now and then timeline gives you so much insight on Nora's personality and life. What made her become the woman that she is today?

This story kept me on my toes the whole time and kept me guessing. Even when I thought I had figured it out and knew what was coming, the plot twist was nothing I could have imagined.

So, so good!!

This is the third book I have read by Freida McFadden and it did not disappoint! I enjoyed the flashback chapters as they helped to add to the confusion about what was going on in the story. I changed my mind about who the suspect was multiple times, also questioning whether it was Nora herself and she was losing her mind.

Great thriller.
I went into this after reading the housemaid so bit disappointed; as for me it did not match up to the bar of housemaid but it is still a very well written novel and thriller
Definitely a worth read.

I’ve read other freida McFadden books before and this one wasn’t my favorite. It took me a while to get into.

Another great book by Frieda McFadden - she really knows how to twist a story. You empathize with someone and then boom, they aren’t who you think. Thank you NetGalley for my copy.

This book is a high recommend.

4 Stars... The plot twist at the end was really good. I didn't see it coming.

Nora Davis is a Surgeon who tries to keep her family history in the past but the past won't stay there. This book was good! I kept switching between who I thought was the killer but I was completely wrong when it was revealed.

If you haven't yet, I highly recommend checking this book and author out.

Thank you to NetGalley for my complimentary copy.

Ms. Freida McFadden does it again! Every time I thought I had this one figured out, I was wrong. The Locked Door kept me on the edge of my seat the ENTIRE time I was reading. Would highly recommend to anyone who loves a fast paced thriller with twists and turns you won’t see coming!

Holy Cats! This one blew me away - ridiculous in nature (I hope), but captivating as a thriller read. I enjoy Freida as an author, and this one didn’t disappoint. What do you do when you are afraid of basements? This one selves into the reason why. I’m beginning to think that keeping things behind closed doors is McFadden’s genre. And, this is my favorite to date. Thanks to NetGalley for the read.

This is a MUST READ! Freida McFadden has outdone herself this time. I’m a little embarrassed to admit how much I enjoyed reading The Locked Door - it’s creepy, disturbing and totally unputdownable. This was a one day (nothing else got done) read for me.
Thank You to NetGalley, Poisoned Pen Press and Freida McFadden for the opportunity to read and (guiltily) thoroughly enjoy this ARC.

I wanted to read this one but I’m not sure if the file was corrupt or if something was wrong with the format, but once it was downloaded to my kindle it caused my device to keep shutting down. So unfortunately I can’t give this one a review. I got about 10 percent in and finally gave up fighting with it

At 11 years old, Nora Davis discovered that her father was a notorious serial killer, killing women in the basement of their family home. Years later, Nora is a successful surgeon, while her father is spending the rest of his life in prison. Nora has worked hard to disconnect herself from her past and any association with her father. When Nora’s patients begin being murdered in the same manner that her father used to kill his victims, Nora becomes a prime suspect.

This was another solid popcorn thriller by Freida McFadden. I had some ideas of who I thought was the murderer and I was way off. This was less twisty than some of this author’s other books but will still a fun, quick read!

Freida does it again!! I couldn’t put this one down once I started and ended up finishing it in about 2 days. The twists and turns were never ending and completely took me by surprise. I always enjoy Freida’s books because they’re easy to read and have short chapters.

At first I wasn't quite sure if I was going to enjoy this as I felt that our main character Dr Nora was keeping secrets from us the readers which I tend to not like, I also wasn't sure whether I liked Nora either which is also normally a huge indicator as to whether I will enjoy the book, however, this was not the case this time.
Very rarely, a book is just so easy to read, it's almost as though you're watching a film or listening to the words, they just flow so easily and before you know it, it's 3am and you're 80% through. Such fluid and engaging writing which I find so so rare.
Thrillers are my go-to yet I've read so many I tend to find many now very predictable, repetitive or just not exactly thrilling, however, #FriedaMcFadden has really hit the mark with this one. Its exciting, scary and does genuinely have the twists that so many book promise yet fail to hit.
I did guess the "whodunit" but not long before the reveal and I did not know the "why" so it was a very pleasant surprise to be honestly shocked.
Thank you #NetGalley for the great copy of #TheLockedDoor

Dr. Nora Davis frequents the same bar every night, she sees patients at her surgical practice, and she tries to forget her past. When she was eleven years old, her father went to prison for murder. He used to torture young girls in his basement workshop. Now, 26 years later, victims are dying in the same manner as Nora’s father’s. Is Nora’s past catching up to her? Is she more like her father than readers realize, or is there a copycat trying to frame her? Frieda McFadden always keeps her readers on their toes. McFadden’s books are hardly ever predictable, and this book is no exception. From the first page, readers are drawn into this mystery that doesn’t let go until the last sentence. Mystery lovers should absolutely read this one.

As a big fan of Freida McFadden, I was so excited about this one and it absolutely lived up to expectations.

McFadden has a talent for leading you to believe one thing whilst the truth is hidden elsewhere. The twists and turns were unpredictable and although I thought I knew what the outcome would be, I was left surprised.

This was a quick read for me because I became engrossed almost immediately.

Another great thriller by Freida McFadden, absolutely worth a read.

Another great book by Freida McFadden!

This book had me hooked from the start. We are following Nora who is struggling to find her own identity after being known only as the daughter of a serial killer. She has changed her name, moved, become a surgeon and has left her past behind, or so she thought. After a series of copy cat killings she is brought under suspicion of the police. Did she follow in her father’s footsteps or is it someone else entirely? You have got to read this book to find out the twisted truth!

An excellent, fast paced, keep you on the edge of you seat and wanting to read just one more chapter, book. Don’t pass this one up.

The Locked Door is my third McFadden novel and I can officially say that I am hooked. I will always pick up one of her books.

The Locked Door follows Dr. Nora Davis a well known general surgeon who has saved countless lives. Her father is the well-known serial killer, the Handyman, is in jail for 18 consecutive lifetimes.

A copycat killer for the Handyman emerges and everyone thinks Nora has something to do with it.

The entire time I was reading I was trying to guess who was the copycat killer or what the twist was going to be and up until the sentence before what was happening I swore I knew who it was. Then when it was revealed I literally gasped.

McFadden is the queen of plot twists and I will be shocked.

I will recommend her as an author to everyone I know and read all of her backlist.
