Nora Davis the daughter of a serial killer has grown into a successful women while her father sits behind bars. However after one of her patients is killed Nora wonders who found out about her past.

This was one of my favorite Frida books. Frida always delivers in her twists and implicating everyone in the crimes. The flashbacks were very creepy! My only issue is the endings can sometimes feel rushed or anticlimactic.

Thanks to NetGalley for an ACR of The Locked Door!

Strong 3,5 stars.

The Locked Door is a relatively short, fast-paced mystery that although doesn't serve anything new, still makes for a pleasurable read,

The author's writing style is simple but that only helps to keep you turning the pages, eager to uncover what is going to happen to the main protagonist, Nora.. However, I found myself anticipating the ending well before its revelation, which diminished the element of surprise that I often seek in mystery novels.

The pacing is generally well-executed, though there are moments where the plot gets repetitive, potentially hindering the overall experience. It's a quick read that will keep you entertained and it goes perfectly with the current Halloween-y mood.

Freida McFadden is definitely an author I have grown to love as of lately and you can always count on her books to be a solid thriller!

Aaron Nierling is a well known serial killer known as the Handyman, but to Nora, he’s just dad.

The story is told from the POV of a serial killers daughter and I found it so interesting and addicting right from the first chapter! It flashes back and forth between the past and present, 26 years after Aaron was found out and arrested.

It was a quick read and very hard to put down! I was invested in the story and had many theories as I was reading as to what was going on and overall, I enjoy this one and it’s a great spooky season read!

my rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Locked Door was my first Freida McFadden novel and I can’t wait to read her others.

Nora is a successful surgeon who is living a seemingly normal quiet life however she holds a secret that she is actually the daughter of a notorious serial killer. She has managed to keep her secret until suddenly two of her patients are murdered in the same fashion as her father and then everything starts to unravel.

This was such a quick and easy read for me I just flew through it and couldn’t put it down once I’d started it. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading thrillers.

I want to thank Netgalley and Poisoned Pen Press, an imprint of Sourcebooks, Inc for generously providing me with this book in exchange for an honest review.

I love Freida McFadden’s books and this one fell perfectly in line! This was the character development and typical unexpected twist that you don’t see coming. Great read and was hard to put down.

I love everything Frieda writes. But this one just didn't hit like her others. I felt the ending was very rushed and came out of left field. I know her twists are what we love. But this one, I was like where did that even come from? iBut other than that, it was really good. and doesn't change how i feel about frieda. and I would def still recommend this one to others.

This was my first book by this author. It wasn’t too bad. Kinda bounced around on who Nora really was.

I LOVE Freida McFadden. I’ve read a lot of hers and still have a lot left to go and nothing has been disappointing thus far.

I’ve seen a lot of Readahs say that this one is as good, if not better than Never Lie. I don’t agree with that, BUT it is still so good!

26 Years ago, Nora’s parents were put in jail. Her father was a serial killer who killed upwards of 30 women and was committed for 15. And he did it all in his basement. Nora changed her last name and began a successful surgeon, but now her patients are turning up dead and the killer has the same MO as her father. But isn’t he in jail?!

I haven’t read anything from Freida that has a specific plot line involving a serial killer before and I’m a true crime junkie, so I was really looking forward to this one. It was really good and the perfect spooky, eerie, serial killer read for spooky season!

If you haven’t read anything from McFadden yet, you need to get started. I’m convinced it doesn’t matter what she writes , it’s going to be EPIC!

Freida McFadden does it again! What a great book. I truly had no idea where it was going to go and I was SHOCKED with the ending. I love how easy of a read this is too. You can definitely not this out in a day! It holds your attention from the first page to the last. I would highly recommend to add this to your TBR!

This book was cleverly written. From the 1st person vantage point, it immediately draws you in, and just when you think you have figured the mystery out, HUGE twist. The suspense keeps you guessing. It is a truly amazing book. It's the first that I have read from Frieda McFadden, and you can guarantee that I will be reading more!

Some doors are locked for a reason…

While eleven-year-old Nora Davis was up in her bedroom doing homework, she had no idea her father was killing women in the basement.

Great mystery/thriller. Suspenseful with excellent plot twists.

Nora is a thriving surgeon, her father imprisoned for his heinous crimes, and her dark secret safely concealed. However, Nora's carefully built world shatters when one of her young patients meets a gruesome fate, mirroring her father's signature style. Someone out there is aware of her haunting past, and they're determined to frame her for this unimaginable crime.

This is my second Freida McFadden book, and it was just as I expected. It's the perfect "popcorn thriller", that keeps you engaged and on the edge of your seat until the very end. Will be reading more of her books. Thank you Netgalley, Freida McFadden, and Poisoned Pen Press for providing me with an ARC.

The review is posted on Goodreads, Scribd, and Netgalley. Will update you when the review is posted on Instagram.

I was well and truly hoodwinked!

Normally I can guess who the perpetrator is in a thriller. The author will try to hide clues in plain sight, but sometimes they leave such blatantly obvious clues and give the show away.

I was almost certain who the culprit was, but I was dead wrong! (Pun intended!)

I am not going to say anymore for fear of spoilers, but this tale of a merciless, cold-hearted serial killer and his daughter had me riveted to my Kindle! I am rating this one a solid 5 out of 5 appreciative stars! My thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this well crafted thriller in exchange for an honest review!

This was my first Freida McFadden novel, as well as my first NetGallery book. The pacing was fast, and I felt like I finished the book in no time. I needed to know what happened next.

I don't want to post any spoilers, so I'll just say that I was guessing up until the end. Everyone had a motive, and it was really great to see how everything played out in the end. I can't wait to read more from McFadden.

Freida does it again! I had originally read this book about two years ago, but when the re-released version popped up on Netgalley, I just had to request it and read it again. I forgot how amazing it was. The Locked Door has easily gone to the top of my Freida list! This book had amazing characters, a great plot & many many twists. You won’t look at locked doors the same after reading this…..

"The Locked Door" by Freida McFadden, is a thrilling ride. A fictional thriller that has all of the elements of your favorite "true crime" podcast or stories.

The story revolves around Nora, the daughter of a notorious serial killer known as the Handyman, who's been behind bars for 26 years. Nora's life takes a dark turn when she becomes the prime suspect in a shocking series of crimes implicating her as a copy-cat killer.

What I loved most is that it's a real page-turner. I devoured it in no time, just like binging a true crime podcast that you can't stop listening to. The suspense and twists kept me reading.

So, if you're looking for a book that's both thrilling and fast-paced, "The Locked Door" is definitely worth a read.

Give it a go and get ready for a rollercoaster of a read!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Freida is one of those go to authors for me and she never disappoints! This story was creepy, fast paced and definitely had me on the edge of my seat. I love Freida’s ability to create such unpredictable and unreliable narrators- I can never predict what will happen or see where it goes. This book did just that! I found myself thinking one thing and switching my theories every other chapter.

Nora and her story gave me chills. This story was definitely more spooky and creepy than her other ones. I enjoyed the way we got the past and present chapters, putting together Nora’s story. I enjoyed the storyline of Nora and Brady, along with Nora trying to figure out what was happening in her life. This felt like reading a Criminal Minds episode or a crime thriller movie.

I unfortunately did not love Nora’s character, but I feel like that was the point. I couldn’t tell her motive and I kind of liked that.

Enjoyed this one!
