Freida McFaddin has done it again - given us a twisty, turny who done it. When bodies start showing up with the signature of an incarcerated serial killer the questions start. The main protagonist, Nora, who is the daughter of said serial killer starts to question a lot of things in her life. But the real question is is she a chip off the old block or is there someone in her life who emulates her father. A great read I devoured.

This was as always a fantastic fast paced thriller by Freida McFadden, I really thought I was going to hate this because I thought I knew exactly what was going to happen but I was SO WRONG!! THE PLOT TWIST GOT ME GOOD!

Nora Davis, that's her new name now, it's easier this way so that she can lead her new life, though every now and then she still needs to turn her back and be cautious.
Nora's father is sentenced for life in prison for murdering twenty women right in their home basement.

Nora works at the surgery, and after twenty six years seems thing from the past will be catching up with her as a couple of her patients were found murdered with an obvious connection to her past. Who's the copy cat killer trying to haunt Nora?

I read this pretty much in one day - it got me hooked right from the start. At the beginning , I thought this will be a cliche basement murderer, but love that the author brought new plot with unexpected twists.

I did not see that coming. Freida’s writing always creates the perfect balance of shock and surprise while leaving me intrigued but cringing at the same time. Such a fast-paced enjoyable read.

The ultimate question: who is responsible?

Seriously, I devoured this.

I haven't read a Freida McFadden book yet that I didn't like! This was a fast read for me because it was so well written and easy to follow. I loved the dual timelines in this for the past and present so you really got to know the background and history of the main character. I thought I had the book figured out, but nope, I was in fact so wrong! Loved it! Would recommend to any thriller reader!

A quick, easy read that is well-crafted and offers a distinct simplicity. Loved the short chapters and carefully placed cliffhangers that kept the story engaging. McFadden’s development of unlikeable qualities in the main character, Nora, truly added to the dark underpinning of the story. Loved everything about this book.

Thanks to #NetGalley for the ARC of #TheLockedDoor

Before The Housemaid, The Locked Door was Freida McFadden's top-rated book. I finally read it, and similar to all her other books, it was absolutely fantastic, unpredictable twists galore, and it kept my attention the entire time!

Each one of Freida's books makes it much more difficult to choose her "best" one.
This book had me going till the very end and just like all of her books you absolutely NEVER see the twist
coming.
Definitely kept me up reading all night long because I needed to see how this ended. And luckily, spoiler alert...the cat lived!

First I want to thank NetGalley, Poisoned Pen Press and Freida McFadden for my ARC of The Engagement Party. Another win for Freida! I love how her books keep you guessing till the end! Her. Writing just makes you NEED to keep reading. Interesting plot and very well developed characters. She never fails to pull me out of a reading slump. I love the short chapters. They make it very easy for me as a momma to stop when I need to. :)

Nora has a skeleton in the closet she’s been running from for most of her life-her father is a serial killer. She’s a successful surgeon and cannot afford to have her past revealed. Now, two patients that have ties to Nora’s practice have turned up dead in similar fashion to her father’s “signature.” She’s got to get to the bottom of this before anyone else gets hurt.

This was an excellent story. It was fast and suspenseful and kept me guessing. The character development was smooth, and the characters are likeable. I didn’t see the twist coming at all! Great read! I cannot wait to read more from Frieda McFadden!

The Locked Door by Freida McFadden is a psychological thriller about a surgeon who is the daughter of a serial killer. Nora Davis is a prominent surgeon who tries to keep to herself.
She was raised by her grandmother after her parents went to jail. Nora's father is one of Oregon's most notorious serial killers, serving 18 life sentences.
Nora's life takes a sinister turn when one of her young patients is murdered in a manner reminiscent of her father's crimes. She becomes a suspect when her patients start dying. Nora must navigate the treacherous path to uncover the truth and protect her innocence.
Nora's father, the Handyman, has been in prison for 26 years. Nora has spent her life under a different name, hiding who her father is. She displays compassion and concern for others, even in her professional role as a surgeon.
There are many twists and turns right up until the final page.
I gave this book 5 stars.

I may no longer be meshing with Freida McFadden's style of writing. This was a single-sitting read and very fast paced, but leaves you a little bit dissatisfied. Also as others have mentioned, the character is allegedly just like her father and does a lot of bad things growing up, but then is just... normal? This wasn't a hit for me.

The Locked Door is one of McFadden's best! Easily read in one sitting with cliff hangers chapters. This has a typical unpredictable ending that McFadden is known for. Highly recommend!

McFadden strikes again! She truthfully cannot do wrong! A very easy to read book and truly a page turner. As per usual, the plot twist was thrilling and very engaging!

Freida McFadden's "The Locked Door" is a gripping psychological thriller that will keep you engrossed throughout. Dr. Nora, a surgeon with a sinister family history, becomes a murder suspect when her patients die under mysterious circumstances.

Narrated by Nora, the book offers a complex protagonist with alternating timelines for added depth. Short, fast-paced chapters maintain suspense, with plenty of twists and turns to keep readers guessing.

If you enjoyed "Flicker in the Dark," you'll love "The Locked Door." Both share a similar plot with suspenseful storytelling and unexpected surprises. I would never NEVER guessed the twist this book took. I look forward to reading more of Freida's work!

This was another Freida McFadden book that did not disappoint! It had me hooked from the moment I started it, and I did not put it down.
I always know Freida is going to put a twist into her books, and I always try to guess them..however this time, I was unable to figure it out and I was totally surprised by the plot twist!

Nora Davis is successful surgeon. She also has a secret, her father was a serial murderer. Although in prison for life, Nora can not escape his shadow. She has changed her name and tries to forget growing up with a locked basement, not knowing he was torturing and killing young women down there. Albeit lonely, she's doing ok, until 2 of her patients turn up dead and mutilated in the same manner Nora's father killed. Police are looking first at Nora. Her world begins to crumble as evidence turns up pointing to her. This was a suspenseful thriller, but ran a little long with the set up. The turn of events was sinisterly delightful.

I liked this but didn’t love it. I certainly enjoyed it better than The Housemaid. it did feel unique as far as thrillers go and I enjoyed the complexity of Nora as a main character. it was definitely easy to tear through quickly. I might have given it 4⭐️ but the twist felt dumb 🤷🏼‍♀️
