Frieda McFadden does it again with this twisty, turvy thriller. Having read and loved many of McFadden's books, The Locked Door didn't fall short of some of her best work. I loved the twists I didn't see coming in this thriller!
Another great thriller by this author. I was not expecting that twist and of course this book was just as engaging and entertaining as the rest of McFadden’s thrillers! Highly recommend.
3.5 stars rounded up to 4.
Nora is the daughter of a infamous serial killer, Aaron Nierling. Nora has become a successful surgeon and hasn't visited her father since he was sent to jail, even though he writes her letters monthly. Nora stops at a local bar one night and reconnects with an ex-boyfriend from college. Brady is nice and even agrees to Nora's strange requests. Suddenly two of Nora's patients end up dead with their hands cut off, her fathers notorious move. Nora must figure out who is killing her patients and why, before she's framed for murder.
This is a quick read that surprised me. I feel like Freida's books are hit or miss, but I like this one! The chapters are short, kept me interested, and the end threw in a twist I did not see coming.
Out on paperback now! Thank you for the E-ARC copy from Netgally and Poisoned Pen Press!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Locked Door by Frieda McFadden. While I love Frieda Books so much this year this one fell a little short. I think it wasn’t as believable and the plot twist is even more unbelievable. I still love the way her stories are written because you can never guess where they are going to lead you.
Freida McFadden does it again with another great thriller!
I was immediately invested in Nora’s story, being the daughter of a serial killer.
I enjoyed that the story went back and forth from the present time to 26 years ago.
The plot twist had me at the edge of my seat the entire time. You will not want to put this book down!
Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for an eARC in exchange for my honest review.
It isn't often I read a book in two sittings but I just could not put this down, who needs to eat or sleep??!! While the read seems to be a slow burn it adds to the tension and makes for a smooth read.
Getting to know the main character Nora was interesting, I didn't warm to her and I think that is the authors intention. She is a well written character but she keeps everyone at arms length and once you know her background you understand why. You flit between past and present and it helps you get to know Nora and her family.
For the first time in a while I didn't guess the murderer and I was surprised at who it ended up being and their connection to Nora. I'm normally a pretty good sleuth, congratulations to the author!
WOW!! I couldn't put this book down and finished it in one day. From the first page I was hooked by the narrator and I loved the story line. I did not see the twist coming at all it was so unique. This is a must read!
I love a good thriller. I had a few things figured out but I was shocked by the end parts dealing with Nora. The plot twist was great. I really enjoy this author.
Another amazing read from one of my favourite author! Freida McFadden’s books are almost impossible to put down. The twists and turns, one after another, do not disappoint.
I love thrillers and suspense stories. Freida McFadden books are addictive! I can’t wait to read her next publication and all the past ones.
Thank you for this ARC of The Locked Door. I also bought a paper copy to keep.
Even if I have read this book before, it still feels the same and I love Freida Mcfadden so much. I wish her writing style would stay as is. Still a great book, even if it is a reread.
The latest book by queen of suspense, Freida McFadden, will have you second guessing yourself on every page. Just when you think you have it all figured out, she pulls the rug out from under you and has your mind headed in a whole different direction... only to second guess yourself again!
This well-written tale of a grown woman trying to escape her father's evil genes while dodging a stalker, avoiding prison, and avoiding a new (former) paramour is sure to be a fan favorite!
In true Freida McFadden fashion, this one was riveting, thrilling, and twisty as heck and I just didn’t want to stop!
What a scary little thriller to read in October! This book was fast-paced and kept me hooked. It also got me a little scared when I was reading it at night! Super twisty. Great read!
What I Liked: It was an easy read and I mean that in a good way. I was hooked from the first few pages and the short chapters make it easy to keep going. I feel like I can read just one more chapter and by the time I stop in 100 pages in. I love that I’m usually wrong in how the story ends end there is always more than one twist.
What I didn't Like: Nothing, I really enjoyed the book.
Yes yes yes!! My goodness does Freida write anything boring ever? I loved it so much! Burning and freaky
The story of Dr. Nora Davis kept me wanting more! I read the book in 24 hours. The pace is fast and intriguing and will keep you turning the pages to figure out whodunnit?!
very readable, couldn't put it down! kinda silly/stupid female lead, but didn't guess all the twists and turns, overall v fun perfect thriller for no thinking high entertainment
The Locked Door was another great book by Freida McFadden. I enjoyed the twists. I did not expect the ending. I thought I had the ending figured out but then Freida threw in some plot twists and I was completelywrong. If you like a fast-paced physiological thriller then this is definitely for you.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving my honest review voluntarily.
Thank you to NetGalley for sending me this arc to review.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it may just be one of my new favorites from Frieda. I devoured it, at the 60% mark I just couldn’t stop without finishing. I HAD to know what happened, my heart was racing the entire time trying to figure out the twists which I was ultimately wrong about.
Wow, was this a quick read!
The book is well written and full of suspense. Every twist and turn kept me guessing and kept me engaged. The characters are well developed and McFadden does an excellent job of making them come alive in the story. The setting of the novel is also wonderful and full of vivid descriptions.
Overall, The Locked Door is a fantastic read and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a thrilling and suspenseful story.
