Frieda comes through again! Another book that doesn’t disappoint. This book contains mystery and suspense, along with the twists that Frieda McFadden is known for.. Can you outrun your past?
I really enjoyed this book. It was different than anything else I've read recently. I couldn't put it down! I will keep an eye out for this author's future work!
Thank you Netgalley and poisoned pen Press for the ARC in exchange of an honest review.
I was definitely intrigued by the premises. But being a doc, I did not like Nora's monologues as surgeon. She didn't really sound like a successful surgeon. She sounded too naive for that.
Apart from that, it was an okay book. McFadden can really keep her readers engaged but they feel simplistic mysteries. There are hardly any clues for us to figure out what's gonna happen.
Overall good for one time read and the end reveal was good. I did not see it coming at all.
Star rating 3.5 stars
The stress you feel when reading this book is exactly what you want to feel when reading a good thriller. Suspicious of everyone!! The author twists at the end were so fun too, the prolog too!
The story’s premise did feel a little familiar to Just Like Home and A Flicker in the Dark, but I enjoyed this one so much more!
This book was really good!!! I thought I had it figured out and did not see the twist coming!!! Thank you NetGalley and Freida McFadden for letting me review this book!!
If you read a Freida McFadden - then you know what you gonna get! She never disappoints with her books. I want to read them all!
This one was a fast-paced, addictive thriller that kept you on your toes. It took some turns that you didn't see coming... That's another thing I love about Freida's books. It's like a wild ride all the way to the end. I can really recommend this thriller.
A suspenseful, creepy and fast-paced read. This book is set in dual timelines. We get to read about Nora, as a child who watched her father who was always in the basement behind locked doors. Her father was doing terrible things in the basement. Nora grew up and moved away to escape her past until her past comes back to haunt her. A must read!
Freida McFadden is great - TikTok loves her books, and I will admit, I've read every one of them - each in less than a day, this one included. McFadden isn't the best writer, but she has mastered the art of suspense, and for that, I'll always read everything she authors.
If you're a Freida McFadden fan you will not be dissapointed. For fans of McFadden's you can expect her signature twist! This, like her other novels was a fast read that kept me turning the page. The book follows Nora who grew up the daughter of a vicious serial killer. When a slew of copycat murders begin with connections to Nora's life, police begin to implicate Nora in the murders. Nora does not know who to trust. The plot unfolds quickly from there in signature McFadden fashion. For fans of McFadden, suspense and mystery and thrillers alike!
I keep trying Freida McFadden books because I have a couple of friends who love them. After four tries, there's only been one I even remotely liked. I've come to the conclusion that this author is just not for me.
"A twisty psychological thriller from the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of The Housemaid and The Coworker!
Some doors are locked for a reason…"
Freida McFadden is the queen of twists and turns! Anything she writes is immediately added to my To Read list and I am never disappointed. The Locked Door kept me reading with it's engaging story and paid off with a great twist!
I have loved some of Frida's books, but every time it gets to a point of the book where it seems like the same thing all over.
At the time, I was interest in mystery/thriller. This had peaked my interest at the time of reading this book, nut I became no longer interested in this.
I want to like Frieda but I just find her books so simplistic, and I’m fairly easy to please. This book was average but I did not feel like it was special or unique. I often feel like she puts her own “spin” on other people’s already published books and I hate that.
This was definitely a twisty read. I believe I rated it somewhat between a 3.5 and 4 stars, because it’s good, but not as good as The Housemaid or The Inmate in my opinion. Freida however never disappoints and leaves you guessing until the end! This book was a bit slower paced in the begging and becomes fast towards the end. All in all I enjoyed it, and love resorting to Freida McFadden books for something short, fast paced, and leaves me guessing all throughout.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book for many reasons! First, I loved the short, quick chapters. Secondly, I loved the fast pacing of this story. Third, I loved the character development of each of the characters, and I especially loved that of Nora.
I read a lot of thrillers and suspense stories, and this one definitely kept me on my toes. I feel that the storyline was different, and I appreciated that it wasn’t similar to the majority of the thrillers that I’ve been reading lately. The only thing I would have liked more of is to learn of Nora’s childhood. I have too many questions about Nora’s childhood that I needed answers to. I felt that part was cut too short (too many unanswered questions and scenarios).
I highly recommend reading The Locked Door. I’m also glad that I took a chance on reading this book, and I will be reading more from Freida McFadden going forward!
This book left me wanting more but was still a really fun fast paced thriller. This book follows Nora a daughter of a serial killer years later as Nora has put all that behind her that is until Nora’s patients start going dying in the same way Nora’s fathers victims had years prior. We follow Nora as she tries to figure out who the real killer is.
I really enjoyed this book it kept me guessing but I wish there was a little more character development in this one. I have always enjoyed Frieda McFadden’s writing and this book is no different it’s fast paced easy to follow and kept me engaged through out. I also really enjoyed learning more about Nora’s childhood throughout the book. I also really enjoyed the ending on this thriller! I would like to thank NetGalley and the publishers for a chance to read this book for an honest review.
The Locked Door had my nerves on end! The story line was some what was to follow. When I thought I had the twost figured out, I found I was not even close. Overall I enjoyed the story and give it 4.5 stars.

The Locked Door by Freida McFadden
⭐️⭐️⭐️
.
This book definitely kept me engaged. I read the whole thing in almost a day. However, it was not my favorite book. I didn't love the ending/twist, and overall the characters drove me crazy. I think the narrator's voice had a lot to do with this, as I listened to most of the book on audio. Not sure if I would recommend this book unless you really want a quick super mindless thriller.
Thank you to NetGalley, Freida McFadden, and Poisoned Pen Press for an ARC copy of "The Locked Door".
Nora Davis, a successful surgeon, has meticulously kept her father's dark past hidden from the world. But when a young patient is murdered in a manner reminiscent of her father's crimes, Nora's carefully constructed life begins to unravel.
"The Locked Door" is a riveting psychological thriller that captivates from beginning to end. With its intricate plot, well-drawn characters, and spine-tingling suspense, it left me on the edge of my seat until the final page.
I highly recommend "The Locked Door" to fans of this genre who won't want to miss this chilling tale of secrets, deception, and the sinister legacy of the past.
