I absolutely loved the locked door. If I put all my Freida books in order this one would be number 3. The plot twist was fabulous. I knew who was behind all the horror but I didn't know who this person was related to. Frieda does it again she creates these page turners short chapters so you want to keep reading these suspense thrillers. I read this on In 1 day while NY was in a flood zone keep in mind I am slow reader. Great read would definitely recommend it to all who love Freida as well to those who are new to her. The Dual timeline always gets me because if the chapter ends in a cliffhanger I will skip forward to see what happened....lol.

A story told in the then and now. So many twists and I had now idea how it would all play out......................but then all the pieces fall into place. Another gripping five star read from Freida
Many thanks to Netgalley for allowing me to to read and review this ARC

Freida McFadden does not miss. This one is dual timeline where you get to look back at Nora’s childhood. Nora is a successful surgeon who has worked hard not to be know as her father’s daughter, even as far as changing her last name. Her father was a serial killer and is in prison. When those murders begins again, Nora’s identity and everything she has worked so hard for are in jeopardy. The twist at the end was unpredictable and amazing!

This might be my favorite Frieda McFadden book yet! The suspense, the twist, the fast reading page turner of a book. Yes! Yes! Yes!

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC!

Me thinking I got a Freida book figured out is so laughable. I picked out a person in the beginning & halfway through & neither were it. This is a HIGHLY underrated Freida McFadden book. This one kept me from putting it down at almost every chapter, I felt like I just had to get to the bottom of it with all the twists & turns! I thought the more of her books I read, the easier it would be to pick out the culprit early on, jokes on me though!

This one was just okay to me. I did not get into the story like I do with most other Freida McFadden books. I did not get into the storyline of the daughter potentially following the same path as the murderous father. The twist was also not that exciting.

Rating: 4.5

The Locked Door is definitely a page turner, it’s a book you’d want to finish in one sitting. As I was reading this book I felt like I figured it all out—I was so sure who the culprit was until I wasn’t! What a mindblowing plot twist! I did not expect that ending at all.

If you’re looking for a thriller to binge this fall, I highly recommend that you add this to your list! This is my first Freida McFadden and definitely not the last.

I had fun reading this one. Anything medical always brings me back to my RN days and I enjoyed following the day-to-day of a general surgeon with this story.

The MC, Nora, is not only a surgeon, but the daughter of a famous serial killer akin to Ted Bundy. Her father was known as "the Handyman," and although she has tried to leave her past behind and conceal her relations to this psychopath, this proves to be impossible when a woman is found murdered in a similar way to her father's victims.

This was a quick read and I breezed through it in a day. It was a similar storyline to the novel Flicker in the Dark by Stacy Willingham, but had enough of its own thing going to still be unique. I am a fan of McFadden's books. They are the perfect thrillers to get lost in and always bust me out of reading slumps. I'll read whatever she writes.

Started my "spooky reads for October" a few days early and what a way to start!

If there is one thing I can consistently say about the Freida McFadden books I have read, it's that they're very entertaining! I can't seem to put them down once I start! Example, I finished this in 24 hrs.

Reads very easy with the book told from the main heroine's POV, highly entertaining, creepy with a bit of horror thrown in, and plenty of misdirection. I had a little bit of disbelief in the ending and the plausibility of who the actual killer was, but not enough to ruin the book for me. After all, life can be unbelievable at times!

Perfect Spooktober read! Will definitely continue reading this author and look forward to reading through her back catalog.

The story is well written with plenty of plot twists and turns to keep you from guessing the ending. The descriptions of the characters and locations are well written. Would recommend

Thank you to by Freida McFadden, NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the arc of this book.

So just loved this book and it was a definite one session read as I just got absorbed into it. Sometimes I really worry about books that are hyped wont live up to it, but this did. I just devoured it and I loved the ending didn't see it coming.

I was given a free copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.

This was my ninth McFadden book I have read since July. I have become a fan of her writing for its twists and wows - this book was a good read - and a fast one - I read this book in less than two days. As always, this book had me within the first two chapters. It ranks in the top 5 of her books I’ve read this far. Loved the suspense, the story line, and the ability to draw me in and not completely have the twist figured out.

THE LOCKED DOOR 🔪
By Freida McFadden

Nora's father is a serial killer known as The Handyman-- who cuts off the hands of young, dark-haired, blue eyed women. As a child she was told to stay out of the basement... As an adult, Nora becomes a surgeon and wants to move on, but then women from her practice are being murdered in the same manner. Is it a copycat?

I've read a couple of Frieda's books and I'll admit, she knows how to hook you and deliver a twist.
This time was a little different. I was confused by the MC's arc here-- I still have (unanswered) questions.
As with any of her books, though, I can't say much-- no spoilers!

I was here for the premise, I enjoyed the ride, but didn't care for the twist.

That's all I'll say-- you be the judge!

The Locked Door, Freida McFadden
THANK YOU Netgalley for this early copy. I am honored to having been selected.
Nora, a successful surgeon, has everything she wants out of life…if only she could leave the past in the past!! Growing up she discovered that her father was killing young girls in their neighborhood. Now serving 30 life sentences, how could all of this be happening again, when more girls go missing all these years later? Is this a copycat murderer? Or is he still up to his same old tricks, somehow from jail?
The book alternates between past and present. This book kept me on the edge of my seat, the entire time. On one page I would think I had it all figured out, only to turn to the next page and think something totally different. And just when I thought I had it figured out, I was not expecting that ending at all!!!!
A great, fun thriller for sure! I really enjoyed this! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really enjoyed this one! This author is churns our reliable page turners, but some of them fall a little flat for me. Not this one! I couldn’t put it down AND I didn’t guess the twist. That’s always a win for me!!! Don’t miss this one!

Nora is the daughter of a serial killer. As a surgeon, she saves people instead of killing them. She did everything she could to get away from who she was. But the past is catching with her.

I enjoyed this well enough. It was a quick read. I don't think it'll be a memorable story, but it was fun while it lasted.

Bummed Out 😞 that I didn’t love this one.

Nora doesn’t know what exactly is going on in her basement but she does know her dad’s building skills are not it. As usual with Frieda’s book we get two suspects at the end and flip back and forth between who did it, which did have me surprised at who Nora suspected.

I did not like the repeated introduction of the characters. Like I get it, you met Mr. Smith at the grocery store (for example).

Thank you so much Net Galley, Poisoned Pen Press, and Freida McFadden for giving me the opportunity to read and honestly review this book.

Yet another one by Freida I COULD NOT PUT DOWN! The only thing you can expect from this author is that you will not ever see that twist coming. Loved the characters, backstory was amazing and those twists!!! On a quest to read everything by the woman. Thanks to net galley for the copy!

Overall I enjoyed this book and was a surprised by the twist at the end. It was fast paced and I do enjoy quick chapters. I liked the past timeline and how we were able to learn more about Nora’s past but I do feel some things were left unanswered. However I would still recommend this book.

I'm sold. I'm boarding the McFadden hype-train. SHE KEEPS KILLING EVERY DAMN BOOK! (Pun intended hehe.)

This fucker had me hooked from start to finish. I could not put it down. I would literally wake up at 4am just to pee, but then decide 'LET'S READ A CHAPTER BEFORE I GO BACK TO SLEEP'. It was another masterpiece.
