A twisty psychological thriller from the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of The Housemaid!

Some doors are locked for a reason…

While eleven-year-old Nora Davis was up in her bedroom doing homework, she had no idea her father was killing women in the basement.

Until the day the police arrived at their front door.

Decades later, Nora's father is spending his life behind bars, and Nora is a successful surgeon with a quiet, solitary existence. Nobody knows her father was a notorious serial killer. And she intends to keep it that way.

Then Nora discovers one of her young female patients has been murdered. In the same unique and horrific manner that her father used to kill his victims.

Somebody knows who Nora is. Somebody wants her to take the fall for this unthinkable crime. But she's not a killer like her father. The police can't pin anything on her.

As long as they don't look in her basement.

WOW! This read had me in a choke hold, i was convinced from the moment i opened this book that i knew what was happening and gosh that spin had my mouth wide open *GASP* This could have easily been a 5 star for me if there was more about the letters and their contents but overall it was easily a 4.5 star for me. I love all books by Freida and i will be recommending this book to all my thriller girlies!

very glad that this book did not disappoint me.

I was looking forward to reading this book after a very anticlimactic thriller by the same author that I listened to a few weeks ago. But fortunately, this one was way better and ended being quite good.
The main character is not the most likeable character and I liked that about her — though her personality was not that appealing to me. (I don’t have to like a character for them to be interesting to me, if that makes sense.) Actually, she is quite unreliable. And I definitely did not believe her to be innocent in her father’s affairs. Her family background is the most interesting part of her. Some other characters were not as intriguing as her, but that’s fine because she was interesting enough.
The storyline is definitely the most engaging part of the novel. I don’t read books with serial killers often but they’re generally very gripping. This one was not an exception; the flashbacks chapters gave a glimpse of that serial killer — and his deranged daughter. I had theories going back and fourth throughout the novel but the final reveal was not what I was thinking about. It managed to surprise and impress me, and I absolutely loved it. The very last chapter is also very compelling… again, loved that.

I want to start by saying thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the e-arc of this book. All of my thoughts and opinions are my own.

I like Freida McFadden books, she writes fast-paced thrillers and when you pick up one of her books you know that you'll have an easy read. As for this book it was not my favourite that I have read by the author. About 42%. in I had already predicted who the culprit was going to be at the end. It was still a decent thriller read! Would recommend in the future.

The Locked Door features a daughter of a serial killer caught up in a murder investigation. Women are being killed in the same manner as her father’s victims. Is she involved or is she being set up?

I thought this book was very average. I kept waiting on something to happen the entire book, but nothing really did. There was a lot of talk about the cat and her job, but nothing to really tie it all in to the plot of the book. I ended up skimming the last chapters just so I could know what happened. I didn’t hate it, but it also wasn’t anything special.

Thanks to NetGalley & Poisoned Press for my copy in exchange for my opinion.

✨ The Locked Door ✨⁣

⁣Frieda McFadden’s books are SO STINKING FUN. ⁣
⁣⁣
⁣The Locked Door was the fourth one I’ve read and I’ve found all four to be quick and entertaining. The Locked Door tells the story of Nora, a successful surgeon, who is hiding the fact that her father is a famous serial killer. When her patients start disappearing, Nora soon finds herself on the police’s radar. ⁣

⁣This book is one of those twisty, completely silly, but ridiculously fun thrillers that some people hate! Personally- I adore them and think they are perfect palate cleansers between heavier reads! ⁣

⁣Four stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you to Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley for giving me this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Freida McFadden is an auto-buy author for me. I was so excited when I was approved for this ARC because it was already on my tbr. The Locked Door is another addicting thriller. I was captivated from the beginning. This story follows Nora Davis who is a doctor. Nora had a traumatic childhood when it was discovered that her father was a serial killer of young women. 26 years later, and she is trying to rebuild her life as a well-known doctor, and she even changed her last name. She doesn't want any of her patients to correlate her with her father. However, things take a turn when a young female patient of Nora's is murdered in a way so similar to her father's crimes. The situation causes Nora to have to recall and relive her past to try and figure out who could be committing these crimes while her father still resides in prison.

The Locked Door provides a dual timeline that goes back and forth between Nora's life now and what happened 26 years ago. I really liked getting to see into her past to be able to understand her character. This story, true to a psychological thriller, provided a shocking twist near the end of who the murderer was. My guess on who the murderer was of course incorrect. This thriller provides the mystery aspect while also giving a creepy feeling while you read it.

I would highly recommend The Locked Door, and it releases on October 3rd!

This is Freida’s spookiest novel in my opinion and I couldn’t get through it fast enough! I did a hybrid read on this one and I listened to parts and read parts. The narrator was fantastic and this book was so captivating. I loved it, was spooked but not too spooked, and couldn’t put it down. Loved this one!

I flew through this book! McFadden makes you instantly connected to the characters, even the ones that you don't actually like. I was surprised at all the twists and turns. She kept me guessing. 5 stars!

Nora's father is a convicted serial killer, he was arrested when she was child and she has grown up, moved on, and changed her name but suddenly things are happening that bring up memories of her dad, and it's all a bit too close to home.

The Locked Door is a nice easy read, I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. I know that Frieda is very popular among thriller readers but I do struggle to connect with her writing. But it has some good twists and it was good for picking up when I was tired and wanting to switch off.

If you're a Frieda McFadden fan then I'm sure you'll love it.

This was a book I couldn't put down!

Great and weird characters - I really suspected everyone while reading but the PLOT TWIST got me ! This is what makes it a fun read! You read, you have your suspects and then in the end "NOOOOOO, WHAT???"

Loved it!

The Locked Door is fast paced and will have you guessing who the killer is and just when you think you’ve figured it out there is the twist! This book is being republished on 10/3. I love Freida McFadden’s writing and this one doesn’t disappoint! I didn’t expect the ending or the connection at all! And she definitely leaves it open for a possible sequel! Though I don’t think she will

Join Nora as she tries to figure out her life after finding out her father is a serial killer! And oh no, it’s happening again! Is it a copy cat or is Nora doing it?! Follow through the story as she races against the clock to figure out what’s happening before she’s framed for murder (or truly caught)! You’ll have to read to find out!

This was a fast paced Psychological Thriller that kept me on my toes. I loved the internal monologue of the main character that made you question if she had some of the serial killer tendencies of her father it made me feel like I was inside the head of someone on there way to being a killer themselves.

The twist was a bit of a let down as it seemed a little out of nowhere and didn’t line up with the direction the story was going in

Overall a fun read as per usual from this Author and would recommend to thriller fans

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! If you like thriller books that keeps you on edge this one is for you. With every chapter you think something different from each character, it will keep you stuck reading until the end.

The are one major plot twist and a minor one in the end. There are really unexpected, like it should be, and you will want to know more of this family.

Freida never fails with her books and this one is no exception, you will love her writing even more!

I enjoyed this book. It was fast paced and a quick read. Nora is a doctor, but she’s also the daughter of a serial killer serving a life sentence. Minders start happening similar to her father’s style and someone is framing Nora. This book was a page turner and I enjoyed that there was a little romance.

Freida McFadden does it again! Her psychological thrillers never fail to amaze me. Definitely did not know who to trust at times… I did see some of the twists coming in this one which is why I rated it 4 stars, but the ending definitely shocked me! I absolutely loved Nora’s character and honestly wanted to give her a hug at times. Would definitely recommend this novel to anyone who wants to get into thrillers!

Freida McFadden knows how to write engaging, hard-to-put down, easy to read, fast paced novels. This one is no exception. It was creepy and suspenseful and I tore through it in a matter of hours. It wasn't my favorite of hers simply because I didn't connect with or honestly even like the main character, but that's a me problem. That won't necessarily be a you problem.

Thanks to NetGalley for access to this entertaining novel.

Thank you so much for letting me read this book! I really enjoyed it and did not see the twist coming at the end!
Great character development. I really could see the main character fighting her own demons. Trying to not become what her father was.

Another Freida McFadden book, another exciting read!

Nora was 11 when her father, a notorious serial killer, went to jail. Now, decades later, Nora is a surgeon who has kept this fact hidden for all those years. Until her patients start being murdered in the same manner that her father used to kill his victims. Someone knows who Nora is and wants her to take the fall for these crimes. But who? And why?

I loved this book. It had me reading into the night, wanting to uncover one more piece of the puzzle. It was a good pace, with quick, short chapters, revealing enough to make you think you know what's going on. The characters were relatable and the flashbacks really added depth to the characters.

This was a solid 4/5 for me and should definitely be added to your TBR list!

I didn’t feel a connection or cared for any of the characters. I felt that this book was not believable and tried too hard to have gory details about the women who were murdered. The big reveal felt lazy and forced.
