The Locked Door is a new thriller by the master of storytelling, Freida McFadden. I love her novels that include female doctors as protagonists. I enjoyed this book as I always do with FMF's writing.
Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the advanced copy of the book.

She does it again! This is a great thriller and I did not expect the twist at the end! Thank you to net galley and the publisher for this book. I thoroughly enjoyed this!

Give me ALL the Freida McFadden books - I love her twisty plotlines {even the titles are simple, but draw you in!}
Just when I think I have it all figured out, NOPE!
Loved the character development of this story. Dr. Nora 🤯

SOOOO good!! This book was addicting and fast pace, just like all her other incredible books. I couldn’t see that ending coming even if I tried. I very much enjoyed this read and look forward to her next one, The Teacher. Thank you Freida for giving great books for us to enjoy.

On every US-based Facebook bookish group, there are many, many fans of Freida, and they keep talking about her amazing writing, scary plots, and twisty twists. Of course, I had to grab one of Freida's books to see what this hype is about. To my surprise...
Maybe it´s just one of the not-as-good-as-other books, maybe it´s her standard writing, I don´t know. But this does not deliver what was promised.
The writing is simple, too simple for my liking. The main character Nora is annoying, the way she treats other people makes you wonder why on earth people are nice to her, and why on earth is there anyone at all who actually wants to talk to her? Add to it the unbelievable Brady, Noras' ex who was her boyfriend about 15 years ago and only for 3 months, and who now follows her as if she was some sort of a goddess. What kind of a guy keeps being so nice to a person who treats him like s*t over and over again?
The story itself started off well and it got me hooked only until I started asking questions and looking for flaws. Oops.. too fast. Not to mention a weird, somehow forced ending, which doesn´t stick to the rest of the story in my opinion.
You know what or rather who I really really liked? THE CAT!

I love this book and I love Freida McFadden so much. Thank you so much netgalley for being able to read this book.

Freida does it again with an amazingly gripping story about a woman who had a serial killer as a father. I could not predict what would happen, the twists were great and caught be off guard. I thought it was funny how the main character Nora had a quirk where every times she comes home she says “Honey, I’m home”, but she’s talking to the empty house. I really liked how this book kept me on the edge of my seat wondering who the killer is and when we find out my mind was blown. Thank you NetGalley for and ARC ebook.

This is a great thriller from Freida McFadden. The story pulls you in right from the start. It’s a roller coaster of twists and turns; just when you think you have it figured out, a new wrinkle appears! McFadden rarely disappoints her readers and this one is true to her dynamic writing style. Really enjoyed it!

Freida McFadden is the queen of fast paced, entertaining thrillers. If you’re looking to bulk up your reading goal, most of her books are daily or 1-2 day reads. “The Locked Door” follows Nora, who grows up to be a surgeon after learning that her father was not the man she thought he was. Now that she is an established surgeon in a private practice (and one name change later) she dedicates her whole self to being nothing like her family, a copycat is on the loose + they know who Nora is. This book kept me sucked in from the beginning, and while I don’t think the payoff at the ending was as shocking as some others I’ve enjoyed more by FM, it was still an entertaining read. I think this book could have been a tiny bit longer for more time to connect with the characters, I felt like I missed out on the typical “AH HA” feeling from lack of connection with most of the main characters. 3.5 stars rounded up.

This was such a good book!, it kept me on edge the entire time reading, I had to pull an all nighter because I was so intrigued.
We get to see Nora and her life as the daughter of a serial killer, how everything goes down when murders start to happen and the police suspects it’s her, how she deals with it as well as seeing parts of her past.
Can’t say much more of the book without spoiling it; It was such a ride reading this, first I was trying to figure out who the killer could be and then I got my suspect and I couldn’t forget him till the very last when he was a victim. All the twists and turns were so unexpected, you know since the beginning that something’s gonna happen but still takes you by surprise every single time. One of my favorite books by Freida McFadden.

already reviewed on here. Not sure why this is showing up again . Already reviewed already reviewed already reviewed already reviewed already reviewed already reviewed already reviewed

WHAT WAS THAT PLOT TWIST OMG??? This is my first Freida McFadden book ever and trust me, it will not be the last, as the last few chapters truly got my head spinning trying to figure out who the killer is, and I was STILL wrong. The back and forth from present day to 26 years added more to the mystery, it truly would keep you questioning if the main character did inherit her father's traits or not. To be honest, if it wasn't for work I would've devoured this book in one sitting.

Omg again Freida blows me away. I loved the twist and I didn’t expect it. Usually I solve the mystery pretty fast but oh man not this one. She just has such a good way of writing stories and having people question everything

🩸 The Locked Door 🗝
Some doors are locked for a reason...
The Locked Door starts with us learning about Aaron Nierling, a narcissist and psychopath who has killed at least thirty women and is spending his life behind bars carrying out 18 consecutive life sentences! We also learn that The Locked Door is his daughter, Nina's, story.
We meet Nina, who now has another last name 26 years after her father and mother were arrested for the gruesome crimes of all of those women. She receives a letter from her father every week, which she rips up before reading, and she runs a practice with less than likeable at times character, Philip. Nora's life would be pretty normal, right, if it wasn't for the genes she inherited and the fact that her female patients who look very similar to her father's victims weren't being found dead with a nod to her father's MO. Nora has managed to hide this side of her from her colleagues, love interests, and sometimes, herself. This is until Nina gets the feeling that someone could be following her...
The Locked Door very cleverly flashes from the present day to 26 years prior, the unfolding events before Nora's father is found to be the murderous monster that he is. I found these added additions to the storyline fascinating and tension building. It had that compulsive unreliable character edge to it, which echoed throughout the chapters of the main storyline. We land on the suspicious mountain where EVERYONE could be the person behind the present-day killings - this alone will leave you white-knuckle-gripped to the page.
I really enjoyed the dip into the genetic link between killers - is that urge inherited? Is it just a potluck? Is life really what you make of it, even with that trauma and bloodshed drenched in your history? Freida has written a tense, intoxicating psychological thriller, one that had me all consumed and obsessed, racing through the chapters Until the very final set of break-neck twists and fireworks. I was left with some *hmm* questions, and a feeling that I would have loved more from the wrap up, but then again, isn't that a sign of a great ending? Wanting more? Will Nina come back in another title? Will we hear from the characters again? 🤔 The Locked Door was an extremely atmospheric, fab slice of psych thriller which I advice any thriller loving reader buys and reads IMMEDIATELY!

#TheLockedDoor psychological thriller at its best! The plot twists will keep you on your toes and draw you in for more.

This was my first Freida McFadden book though I've heard so much about her over the past couple of years.
I found The Locked Door to be a fast paced thriller that kept me turning the pages until the very end to find out what was going on.
I didn't find any of the characters to be overly likable (and not in the fun way that some characters can be unlikeable) but I still was anxious to see how the story played out.
Please find attached my spoiler free youtube review video for more fleshed out thoughts on the story.

Found another favorite author in Freida McFadden.
A thriller that will have you turning page after page not wanting to put it down.
The ending you will not see coming either. Wow!II liked this story so much I am going right into reading another story by this author.

Loved this one! We love our queen, Freida. I had the twist of this one all wrong, but I loved it. This is a re-release!
Nora’s father was a serial killer. He is currently in prison for his murders of over 30 women. Nora has done everything she can to disconnect herself from that part of her childhood. Then 26 years later, copycat murders start happening and Nora is questioning everything and everyone around her.
This one kept me until the very last page! Perfect read for spooky season.
Thank you to NetGalley, Poisoned Pen Press, and the author for an ARC of this book. This book will be re-released on October 3rd, 2023 ☺️

Another shocking ending by McFadden! Seeing more of the family of a serial killer was a great approach. The inner termoil Nora went through and how 2 kids from the same parents can be so different was wonderfully done. Brady was so good for Nora! I love a second chance romance! The only thing that I didn't like was how back and forth she was. I should tell them... no I shouldn't.... girl if you would have told them it could have changed things!

The Locked Door is a thriller that kept me intrigued till the very last page! The chapters are told in the main character Nora’s perspective from the past (26 years earlier) and the present. She is now a successful surgeon and her dad is a notorious serial killer who killed women in their basement 26 years ago. Although some parts of the story were predictable, I did not predict the ending- it is wild! If you are looking for a fast past thriller that keeps you hooked, I highly suggest this book! Thank you NetGalley, Poisoned Pen Press, and Freida McFadden for the opportunity to read an advance reader copy of The Locked Door in exchange for my honest review! I am excited to see the new cover of this novel :)
