Thank you to Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley for this E-ARC. These are my own opinions. Freida McFadden has done it again! She has COMPLETELY BLOWN MY MIND! The synopsis of this book had me hook, line and sinker. The main character is Nora, who is a successful surgeon and oh yeah the daughter of a notorious serial killer. This book had me at the edge of my seat right until the last word! I questioned everyone's motive in the book. It makes you realize that everyone has secrets and skeleton's in their closets. I thought that one person was behind everything and then I changed to someone else (even the old lady landlord). I did NOT see the end coming. The ending and the epilogue tied up any loose ends there might have been....or did they? I love how Freida made you suspect every new character that was introduced and basically everyone including our MC. This made me think about how family members of serial killers deal with this after their loved one has been inprisoned. I am now never going down to my basement EVER again...at least not alone.

This book's plot surprise was excellent and surprising. The elements of a thriller were all there. I was suspicious of everyone and everything since the portrayal was so nasty and well done. Because it was so excellent, I do not suggest reading this book at night (I made that mistake). I also do not suggest eating while reading this.

Nora's persona was excellent. She was the daughter of a serial killer, and it was fascinating to see how her inner conflict was shown. Her character and childhood were further fleshed out in the flashback chapters, and she was depicted as a good person, albeit in an EXTREMELY morally dubious manner.

I only deducted one rating because the romance occasionally interfered with the plot and appeared superfluous.

I always rely on thrillers written by Freida McFadden, and I eagerly anticipate reading more of her works.

I appreciate NetGalley and Poison Press Books giving me an advanced reader's copy of this book in exchange for my frank review!

The plot twist in this book was so good and unexpected. It hit all the marks for a thriller. The characterization was so good and sinister that I was suspecting everyone and everything. I do not recommend reading this book at night (i made that mistake) and i also don’t recommend eating while reading this but i do recommend reading it because it was so so good.

The character of Nora was so good. She was the daughter of a serial killer and the way her inner dilemma was portrayed was so elusive and intriguing. The flashback chapters helped to flush out her character and childhood better and it showed her as a good person but in an EXTREMELY morally grey way.

I only took one star off because the romance was a little distracting from the plot at times and seemed unnecessary.

Freida McFadden books will never fail me in the thriller genre and I look forward to reading more of her books!

Thank you to NetGalley and Poison Press Books for provided me with an ARC of this book in exchange of my honest thoughts!

A dual timeline thriller that will have you on this edge of your seat.
Main character Nora takes us through today and 26 years ago. Plot twists and serial killers.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC and to the author and Poisoned Pen Press.

The Locked Door by Freida McFadden tells the story of Nora Davis, a brilliant surgeon who just so happens to have a father serving 18 consecutive life sentences in jail for being a serial killer. Ever since he was arrested - Nora has kept all traces of her father out of her life including changing her last name. Suddenly, when Nora's patients start turning up dead in her father's MO - Nora's life is thrown off balance. Who knows her secret? Why are they doing this to her? Who can she trust?

This book is another smash hit from Freida McFadden. After reading most of her work before reading The Locked Door - I can say that I was just as blown away reading this book as I was her first one. No matter how many she writes, each one feels new and exciting. An absolute masterpiece from start to finish.

Thank you to NetGalley and of course Freida McFadden for allowing me to read this eARC in exchange for an honest review!

I knew this was gonna be great as soon as i saw it. Because Freida McFadden can do no wrong when it comes to shocking thrillers. The story was so captivating. I loved the storytelling. Her past coming to haunt her, her having a twisted background was all so interesting. And i could not guess the twist at all!

When I saw this on the shelf on NetGalley, you bet I clicked so fast on that request button. I love Miss McFadden and she's definitely on my auto-buy and auto-read list.

Now, unto this book... Another classic Freida. I love the twists and turns and the anxiety that this book gave. It's so fast-paced and page-turning and I don't think you'll be able to see the twist from a mile away. Highly recommended for those looking for quick reads.

This author's thrillers are so addicting! I find the pacing and writing style so easy to read. The list of characters is simple and yet there's always a twist that fools me! This one was especially creepy because of the method in which the victims were killed. You don't know who you can trust throughout the entire book. Such a great twist! 4.5 stars

Macfadden did it again with this twisted thriller. Nora is the daughter of a serial killer. Nora changed her name, her location so she was never associated with him or anyone knew she was his daughter. Until.... his trademark resurfaced. Nora must find this person. They know and she's not sure how.

The twist you will never ever see coming!

i was absolutely thrilled to dive into this book by the author for the first time. and boy, let me tell you- she did not disappoint! from start to finish, i was completely captivated by the story and couldn't put it down. the pace of the book was perfect. it was a blast to read. i absolutely loved it!

here's a lightning-fast rundown of the book~

╰┈➤ "locked doors always have a reason," they say. for nora davis, that reason was more sinister than she imagined.

years have passed since nora's father was locked up for life as a notorious serial killer. now a top-notch surgeon, nora lives a peaceful and solitary life, keeping her dark secret hidden.

nora's world is turned upside down when she uncovers the brutal murder of the young patients, mirroring her father's heinous crimes. but someone is framing her. will she be able to clear her name before her dark secrets are exposed?
─── ・ 。゚☆: .☽ . :☆゚. ───

╰┈➤ nora is the protagonist and the narrator of the story. with her intelligence, skills, and compassion, she strives to prevent harm and injustice, truly caring for her patients. but she's also plagued by nightmares, guilt, and trust issues, feeling isolated and lonely without family or love. she fears rejection for her father's sins.

brady is nora's ex-boyfriend, but let's just say things are a bit fishy with this one. sure, he's kind to nora, but there's something about his actions that just don't add up.

philip is nora's competitive surgeon. they're a dynamic duo and love a friendly competition. he's quite the charmer but nora knows better than to let him get too close to harper.

harper is the secretary. she’s very organized, incredibly personable, and smart as a whip. nora feels maternal instincts towards her and therefore, wants to look after her.

let me tell you about my absolute favourite furry friend - meowsie! this little cutie is not only brave and sweet, but also incredibly adorable. and the best part? meowsie is always looking out for nora. i can't even express how grateful i am that meowsie exists!

“She has no idea who Aaron Nierling is. And she couldn't care less. Wonderful. A stray cat is my only friend.”

╰┈➤i must say that i was so sure i had the ending all figured out, but boy was i in for a surprise! despite that, i still found myself thoroughly entertained by all the unexpected twists and turns. however, i have to admit, i was really hoping for a bit more of a scare factor. nonetheless, it was still a wild ride!

❦ i give it a solid 4.5 ⭐ and i highly recommend it to anyone looking for a captivating read. the author's writing style is simply amazing and engaging, and i couldn't put the book down until i finished it.

What do you do when you're the daughter of a notorious serial killer and you're being framed by the copycat? This was my third novel I have read by author Freida McFadden, and I was not disappointed at all. This is yet another great physiological thriller that you can easily get sucked into. I think I might have found my "go-to" physiological thriller author cause the plot twists are just so good.

I've already caught on to Freida's writing style that the main character is keeping some obvious infractions of their life a secret. Great book, fun read. Reminded me a lot of Sam Hollands book "The Twenty". Glad this book didn't have turtles. Haha.

Freida McFadden is catching on life wildfire for good reason. Everything she writes is a keep you on the edge of your seat biter, and this is no exception. From the very beginning we’re sucked into a twisted tale where everything is suspicious and no one can really be trusted. I love a book with a good twist and this delivered. Repeatedly. Excellent read.

Freida’s books always keep you turning the page and The Locked Door is of no exception. This is a re-release from the author but it was a new read for me. I love how she keeps you guessing until the very end. Thank you to Freida, the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read the advanced copy of this book!

The locked door completely changed towards the end! You would think what is happening the whole time until about 75 percent and everything changes! Frieda always writes great thriller books. This one has to be my top 3 favorite so far.

As is the case with most books I've read of hers, this was a fast paced thriller with the twists you'd expect from this author. Well done!

I enjoy reading thrillers and suspenseful novels, and this one did not disappoint. I was astonished when I realized who the killer was because I had initially assumed it was two different suspects. This book was great for a variety of reasons. I adored the brief concise chapters, I adored how quickly this tale moved along, and lastly I adored Nora's character growth more than I did that of the other characters. The one thing I would have liked to know more is Nora's early years. There are a good amount of things I want to know about Nora's upbringing and because of that, in my opinion, made that section of the story feel rushed.

I definitely would recommend reading The Locked Door. I'm extremely appreciative of NetGalley's ARC! My second Frieda McFadden novel, and it did not let me down!

This was typical Freida in the way that the twist didn't twist right until the end. It didn't disappoint, and the character development was great. There was a good amount of suspense and underlying story, which led to us thinking one thing, when the stuff going on in the background was out of sight and out of mind. I loved it and it goes on par with all other Freida reads.
