Thank you Netgalley and Publisher for this advanced copy.
This book was such a typical japanese thriller story. It was really good and disturbing at the same time.
The interesting thing about this book is that the horror elements aren't what I expected them to be. The stories are more disturbing than scary. Right from the start, I was already wrong about who and what to fear. I almost didn't see it coming. There are parts that I find frustrating and confusing, but as soon as things started unraveling, I started paying more attention to the details.
This was an interesting horror book. At first, I was a little bit bored but once it got going, it really took off. It was a great mix of creepy characters and everyday horror. It really held my attention too. I really enjoyed this and I will be first in line if there is ever a sequel.
Unfortunately, I don’t think this was a good read for me. There was something about the writing that was just off and felt a little jarring to me. I gave it a good solid try, but I just couldn’t get into this story. Maybe it would work better as a manga. I also think that it was difficult to read due to the giant watermark in the middle of the page. It was very distracting. I do understand the need for confidentiality when it comes to ARCs, but at the same time, in the case of many other novels that I have read through Netgalley, the publishers never had giant watermarks practically blocking the text from being read.
This was a perfect little light novel for spooky season . The stories aren’t scary but definitely eerie and interesting.
Thank you for the arc !
I thought this was a manga because of the cover, but it was a light novel. I did have problems reading it because the fonts are small, and it can't be sent to kindle. Also, the watermark made it even harder.
My thoughts on the book, it is composed of short stories, each eerie and disturbing. If only I didn't have a hard time reading it, I would have enjoyed it. Overall, it was an interesting quick read. I'd recommend it and would re-read it myself on its kindle version.
I thought it was a manga when i first pick it, stupid me! Well it end up as a nice surprise since I probably wouldn't have pick it up and find out really liking that story! worth reading!
Yami-hara
By Mizuki Tsulimura
Thank you to Netgalley for a copy for an honest review.
This light novel is composed of short horror stories.
I found Yami-hara a quick read and very enjoyable, I liked the creepy eerie vibes of each story.
This is the first time I have read anything from Mizuki Tsujimura and the author's other books (lonely caste in the mirror) look like something I would probably pick up in the future.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review!
This seemed like a very interesting light novel and I love anything spooky, but I could barely read it with the big watermark in the back. The author’s other writings seemed very interesting to me and I’ve been wanting to read Lonely Caste In the Mirror for a while now. Hopefully I can come back to this when it’s a little easier to see! Thank you regardless!
Saw nowhere that this was a light novel or that I would have to deal with water marks in the background of every page. I tried so hard but it just could not keep me interested enough to deal with all the problems around it.
"The strange kid at school, the odd woman in the apartment building, the troublesome man at work. Such people exist everywhere, in everyone’s lives. All it takes is a word for it to start. An unsettling question, a bizarre remark, or even a kind apology. Once their hooks sink in, the cracks form. Darkness floods into the recesses until nothing else remains, and then...Sirens, screaming, dull thuds on the pavement. They have always existed. They just are. And when they show up, people die."
Very creepy and disturbing. I felt unsettled while I was reading it which is a high compliment for a horror novel.

This light novel was an interesting read and I definitely enjoyed it! This book is composed of short horror stories that is unique as well as requires you to pay attention to little details. At first, the strange behaviors will be confusing but everything makes sense the more you read each of the stories! The eerie vibes from this book was enjoyable and I will be reading more light novels in this genre!

Thank you Netgalley, Yen Press, and Mizuki Tsujimura for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review!
I think this book just isn’t for me. The premise was cool. A bunch of interconnected creepy stories focused on harassment as a horror theme. I even was ready for the more psychological instead of in your face horror, but I just couldn’t get into it. The short stories often seemed too long and repetitive. The characters making weird assumptions and/or not making much sense. They very much felt like “characters” to me instead of people.
A strange new student at school, a odd woman in the apartment building, the troubling man at work.... all the strange questions and behavior.... yet darkness is spreading and soon people will begin to die. This was a really interesting story, it has one overall arc but a few other separate stories in them that kind of all tie together. It's definitely got a spooky and suspenseful horror element to it. I had a lot of fun reading it and think it would make a great read for the autumn or anyone who enjoys horror/suspense books!
*Thanks Netgalley and Yen Press, Yen On for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*
