I enjoyed this book a lot. I can't wait to order it for my library and put it on display. It is a great addition to an LGBT+ collection.

"Cuckoos Three" is definitely a graphic novel that will stick with me. This was a simple, character-driven story and absolutely beautiful. I loved the art style and how unique it was. And the thoughtful representation of both D.I.D. and queerness in a rural setting was so lovely to see. Definitely recommend!

This graphic novel had a great art style and portrayed and discussed important topics such as D.I.D and mental illness. However, the romance between the characters was not well developed and felt rushed.

This is an absolutely fantastic queer romance. It's sweet without being remotely cloying, it's got high stakes and drama without being soapy or cheap, and it's got some really nuanced mental health representation for DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder), the first time I've seen it represented in any written media and not villainized or reduced to horrific stereotypes.

This comic was a delight to read and the golden retriever, black cat dynamic of these boys was adorable. When I read a story and literally "squeeze" out loud, you know it's good.

I also really loved the representation of DID that was included. The story avoids many of the less savory representations of DID (like a Jekyll and Hyde dual personality), and very clearly and eloquently describes how it is less a mental diagnosis and more an extreme coping mechanism.

Cuckoos Three is a lovely story about country boy Murry Sommerfield meeting his new city boy neighbour, Jacob Durris. The two hit it off instantly but as they grow closer, Murry discovers that there is more to his new friend than he initially thought. And also, he now has feelings?

This graphic novel is the epitome of wholesome, mainly due to its two cinnamon roll MCs. Murry is such a gentle giant and I adored how he cared for and respected the people around him. Jacob brought important discussions of how we treat people with mental disorders. I felt this topic was broached in such a sweet and sensitive way. He was also a very lovely and thoughtful character.

I really enjoyed the illustration style. The colours were so soft and relaxing to look at and the character designs were very cute.

Overall, I would absolutely recommend picking this one up if you want a wholesome read with a serious discussion at its heart.

Thanks to Netgalley and Yen Press for letting me read an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Cuckoo’s Three is out August 22nd.

I am absolutely in love with Cassandra Jean's art style, the simple lines and character design really make the graphic novel such a delight to read.
Both Murry and Jacob are so cute, I loved how when Murry learns about Jacob's experiences with D.I.D, he doesn't try to blame him for it, and he reassures him that he doesn't think he's crazy. They're both just such sweet and adorable characters and I loved seeing their relationship progress. I did think they were a bit underdevelopped but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable to read.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the eARC!!

This is a very sweet graphic novel with difficult themes of homophobia and dissociative identity disorder. It’s a love conquers all type of story with lovable main characters. I though the story had great pacing and the artwork was gorgeous! Loved the representation and look forward to reading more from this duo!

Extremely adorable and delightful new-
adult graphic novel.

The characters were so cute - would’ve loved some more development and more insight in the life of Jacob.

Different and unique story, and the art style is very pretty.

100% recommend!

I am OBSESSED with this?? It’s just so utterly sweet. Jacob likens Murray to a puppy the moment they meet and honestly, it’s so accurate. Murray is like sunshine and rainbows and a summer’s day and Jacob is darker, quieter, more subdued and uncertain.

This graphic novel depicts D.I.D, and while I have no first hand experience with this, I felt it was handled really sensitively. I especially loved the way Murray didn’t treat Jacob any differently for it, the way he reminded him he was okay, he wasn’t “crazy” or a “freak”. I loved that he just stood by him no matter what.

I do think this could have been a little longer and a little more fleshed out, but it hasn’t affected my rating at all because it made me too happy not to be 5 stars.

✅️ Small town USA
✅️ Two boys fall in love
✅️ Happy ending

The two main characters are Jacob and Murry. Jacob moves from the ciry to a small farming community and next door to Murry and they quickly become friends.

A cute manga story about teenage boys, one is alternative and one plays high school football. They both bond over there love for animals.

The story was fairly standard but the character were really interesting and you can't help but like them. The drawing style is good, just a standard manga style.

With thanks to Net gallery, the authors and publishers for providing a free ARC for review.

This was so flipping cute. Its a country x city romance and both characters are really charming. Jacob is a shy artist while Murry is an extroverted jock however when Jacob moves next to him they become good friends (and more). The artstyle was cute, the story was cute and the rep is important. Definitely recommend

This was adorable, and I can see myself revisiting this a lot. It just made me so soft. I always see many queer graphic novels compared to Heartstopper, and that comparison doesn't always hold up, but in this case I would genuinely compare the two: both are m/m romance graphic novels, both have a focus on mental health, and both are very fluffy. I adored the characters just so much, they were both so lovable and amazing. Since I felt so invested in the story, the extras at the end were so cute too, giving some insight into the characters' life together after the graphic novel ends. Highly, highly recommend!

This graphic was very cute and interesting. The drawings were soft, as well as the colors. I loved how the identity disorder was treated, very smoothly. The explanation at the end is very important and can help people to understand this disorder. I will recommend this graphic !

I've followed Cassandra Jean for years, and it was lovely to see how her art and storytelling have evolved. Cuckoos Three was cute and had some much-needed discussions around ableism and how we respond to mental health, and I thought both Murray and Jacob were solid characters...but the narrative itself felt lacking. We only ever brushed the surface of their lives outside of their friendship and romance. I wanted to see their parents and friends as more than an afterthought, I wanted to see them interact with the world when the other wasn't around. The climax also went in a direction I found a bit odd; maybe the creators didn't want there to be much tension?

So yeah: loved the art and the relationship between the boys but wished for depth.

I went into reading this manga with very low expectations, and it blew those out of the water. It was a cute love story that brought to light an illness that isn't talked about often. You could really feel the love that Murry and Jacob have for each other.

Murry Summerfield has it all: he's a football star in his hometown, a dedicated farmer/animal caretaker, popular, and one of the nicest human beings. He's an overall golden retriever love interest. His life turns upside down when his new neighbor moves in across the field.

Jacob Durris is a city boy whose family moved him to the county to get a different pace at life. Jacob has a dark past that he's afraid to let Murry know about, thinking it would ruin their blossoming friendship/relationship.

This manga deals with a lot of hard issues: mental health issues, like dissociative identity disorder, depression, self-harm, and homophobia.

I really enjoyed this graphic novel. It was sweet, heartwarming with an absolutely gorgeous art style and design.

When Jacob, a highly pierced city boy, moves in next to All-American boy next door Murray, the two form a fast friendship. Jacob has a mysterious past and has very overprotective writer parents. Murray is relentlessly cheerful and friendly and determined to befriend and understand Jacob. Their friendship develops further into romantic attraction, which raises the hackles of the community and Murray's classmates.

I can't really describe how much I adored this art style. Gorgeously depicted I felt like I could fall through the page to be there or just stare at the pages for hours. Cassandra Jean has created such a gorgeous world we get to enjoy.

I want more to this story, not only because I really enjoyed watching Murray and Jacob grow, but also because there are aspects to this story that feel unfinished. I won't go into extensive details for spoiler purposes, but Murray's family was left with unresolved conflict that I would want explored and hopefully resolved (although I know that's not always the way the world works).

Really beautiful book, highly enjoyed it.

This was so cute and wholesome!! The story, the characters, the art, everything was absolutely stunning.

This book was like a warm hug, and Jacob and Murry were so precious. Their friendship and relationship was so natural and based upon so much kindness and understanding. The way the book handled Jacob's mental health issues was beautiful and discussed a disorder, from what I know, isn't very common to read about in YA.

I will definitely be recommending this to my library!
