So much fun to read. Highly recommend and love the married duo. The plot is definitely upbeat and keeps you reading.
Lauren Layne KNOWS how to write amazing romance books and WOW was this one so good! I loved the different POVs and thought both were equally well written and interesting! This book was funny and sweet - it had it all

Lauren Layne is one of my favourite romance authors of all time. Her SLAS series and Oxford series are two of my favourite found family and romance series of all time. They’re always an incredible joy to read and I’m always having a blast with them. This was no exception. I throughly enjoyed the characters and the drama and the romance that came with it. Lauren Layne has a gift and it’s always the best time being able to read all her new releases.
This romance was kind of cute but tugged at my heart strings at the same time. The plot was a comedy of errors, to the point where I was thinking “Really? Again?” The writing flowed well. There was plenty of clever banter. Overall it was a good read.
Emergency Contact by Lauren Layne and Anthony Le Donne is a unique and engaging contemporary romance novel that intertwines humor, romance, and the unpredictability of life's unexpected moments. Katherine and Tom make an interesting pair but I love how he still showed up for her. I have read several books from author Layne and this one adds another great to her catalog.
The premise was a cute one but I wasn’t sold on the Chemistry between Kathryn and Tom.
Kathryn seemed childish and Tom seemed disaffected and not really engaged.
I liked the ending the best and Gordy won my vote for the best character in the book.
LL is a master of romance! She is the best of the best. Emergency Contact is a great second chance romance. I love the Christmas element as well. I would recommend to a friend!
The crazy holiday rush of NYC at Christmas is in full swing. During the hustle and bustle, Katherine, a high power attorney has an accident that means she needs to stay with someone for 48 hours. The hospital calls her emergency contact in her phone, her ex-husband. She forgot to update her info. The ex is willing to watch her but he is flying out to Chicago to ask his girlfriend to marry him during the holidays and now he will have his ex-wife tagging along. Hohoho, nothing merrier than that.
But trip turns into an adventure along the lines of Planes, Trains and Automobiles. A hilarious second chance holiday romance.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the e-ARC to review.
I thoroughly enjoyed Layne’s To Sir, With Love so was pleased as punch to be able to read this little holiday romance with hijinks similar to Planes, Trains and Automobiles. I loved the banter between Katherine and her ex Tom, as they are unexpected brought together after Katherine is involved in an accident and had forgotten to change her emergency contact information. Truly a delightful read.

Katherine (36) & Tom divorced a few years ago, but find themselves spending the holidays together when he offers to watch over her when she has a concussion. The problem is that he's supposed to be in Chicago getting ready to propose to his girlfriend on Christmas Eve. So they set off on an adventure that tests their patience with each other. If something can go wrong it does and I was all for the chaos of it all.
Katherine hates Christmas, understandably so. She was a little much with her workaholic~ness and bickering with Tom, and he made some valid points of why they got divorced. He was really sweet. The banter was good! You just can't help but root for these two to get back together. Overall, a wonderfully fun holiday read.
After Katherine is in an accident resulting in a concussion, she wakes up in the hospital to learn that not only does she need to be monitored for 48 hours, but she forgot to remove her ex-husband, Tom, as her emergency contact. Now she and Tom are on their way to celebrate Christmas Eve in Chicago so Tom can propose to his new girlfriend.
Katherine was such an unlikable character, and yet I was quickly rooting for her and Tom to make it to Chicago and figure out their relationship. It was such a fun read.
I received an ARC from NetGalley.
I’m a sucker for a second chance romance between divorcées.
Also so cute in the airport setting.
This book was great, it felt fresh and not like anything else I've read lately. It kept me intrigued all the way through, I didn't want to put it down.
This book was so good! I just love this author. The book had me laughing out loud. It was an interesting twist to have two authors with different points of views. I thought it made the story move along quickly.
This is a good book. The two main characters are Katherine and Tom. They were married to each other and now divorced. Katherine gets in a cab and is n an accident. The emergency contact for her is Tom,she has changed it. He goes to the hospital to see what he can do. She has a concussion and needs supervision for twenty four hours and has stitches on her back. The doctor says she can leave the hospital. They try to get to the airport but are delayed. They try the a train, it have to get off. Try for a car rental but no cars try a bus and are in an accident. They start to be closer. They fall back in love.
Emergency Contact by Lauren Layne & Anthony LeDonne is the story of Katherine a NY City attorney on the brink of being asked to be partner in her firm. The only standing in her way is, the pesky Holiday Season and a concussion she gets from being in a car accident. If things weren’t bad enough, the accident happens in front of her office and HR calls her Emergency Contact; her ex-husband Tom. Tom is on his way out of the city and he can’t wait to start celebrating the holidays. He is heading to his home town and he is ready to propose to his new girlfriend. The only thing standing in this way is getting a call about his ex. At a crossroads Tom realizes he can’t leave Katherine alone, in her condition. So in an attempt to get him home, on time celebrate Christmas, Tom decides to bring Katherine home with him. What should be a quick flight and a few days of rest, becomes a nightmare road real that tests Katherine and Tom’s very beings. Can they make it to Chicago in one piece? Can they even be friends, at the end of this? Or can they at least find peace and joy during this time of the year? You will have to read it to see but you won’t be disappointed. The characters have a way to go to make amends but there is always hope. They are very cute together and their personalities really do show.. and their friendship is undeniable.. even if they can’t see it at first. I want to thank Netgalley & the authors for my copy for an honest review. It was my pleasure to read and review this book. I love a good Holiday Rom Com. I hope you enjoy it too..
Even though this novel is set at Christmas, Emergency Contact can (and should) be read all year round. I want to be friends with Katherine and Tom, the novel’s protagonists, and was sad to say goodbye to them when I finished this title. Add this title to your shelf if you like stories of misadventure or second-chance romances.
This story is a heartwarming second-chance romance with depth and relatable characters. Emergency Contact by Lauren Layne and Anthony Ledonne is a delightful romantic treat that I devoured in one sitting.
Meet Katherine Tate. An ambitious NYC attorney who finds herself in an unexpected situation. Diagnosed with a concussion, she must be monitored for 48 hours to ensure her condition doesn't worsen. The catch? She forgot to update her emergency contact information, and the person they call is her ex-husband.
She reluctantly agrees to travel with Tom for the holidays but thanks to a blizzard, what should have been a quick plane ride turns into an antagonistic overnight misadventure.
I adored the setting of this story. The snowy backdrop of Chicago during the holidays really added charm and a layer of cozy. I found Layne and Ledonne crafted terrific characters in Katherine and Tom. They’re everything you want: flawed, genuine, and their chemistry leaps off the pages.
From laughter to tears, this rom-com delivers all of the emotions. Whether you're looking for writing that shines, laughter, love, or a touch of holiday magic at any time of year, this book delivers.
Thank you to NetGalley and Blackstone Publishing for a temporary e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.
When Katherine gets diagnosed with a concussion, the hospital calls her emergency contact - her ex-husband Tom. Unable to be left alone, Katherine agrees to travel to Chicago with him for the holidays. But thanks to a blizzard, what should have been a quick plane ride turns into an antagonistic overnight misadventure that stirs up old feelings even as Tom prepares to propose to his new girlfriend on Christmas Eve.
I thought this was so fun! I’m normally not a fan of the love triangle trope, but I found myself rooting for Katherine and Tom to get back together. I couldn’t put it down! I highly recommend the audiobook.
Second chance romances don’t always work for me, but this one really did! It has the most clever set up. Nora Ephron’s fingerprints all over it. A++ banter! Loved it! A pitch perfect holiday read.
