You know a murder mystery is going to be wild when someone dies in the first chapter. LAST ONE TO DIE was, indeed, wild  The entire time, I was intrigued. This is a page turner that'll keeping you guessing and wanting to read more.  Each new chapter brought a new conflict, and I couldn't help saying "What." In LAST ONE TO DIE, there's so much happening. With attacks at every corner, and resemblances to people in the past, this book is the perfect thriller. Like, seriously, there was so much drama and thrills and suspense. I liked that there was a turn at every corner, supernatural links, and history galore. Not mention, the plot twist I almost didn't see coming. If you want a twisty, suspenseful book full of thrills and witts and the supernatural, you should add this to your 2024 tbr.

What I Liked About It:
*the drama
*the twists
*the suspense
*the supernatural aspect

The cover of this book is what made me want to read this book. I really wanted to like this book but i found the writing to definitely be on the goofy maybe cheesy side.

with the writing style not being good for me i found the main character to be false and not being able to be taken seriously.

It was ok for me not sure i would recommend this to everyone.

2 star rating for me.

This was an intriguing YA mystery/thriller. Lots of dark elements incorporated and some unexpected twists. The ending wad both shocking and satisfying. A pretty good read.

A fun read. It was gripping and I enjoyed how fast the story moved. Some hair raising moments. Will recommend to students.

So I was intrigued by the description & cover art of this novel, but it fell short for me. The writing style was very “cheesy” in my opinion so it was hard to take the MC seriously. The pacing was good however & it kept me interested enough to finish it.

An excellent read! I was intrigued from the start and was smacked in the face by the reveal. I don’t often get fooled when figuring out twists.

I was easily drawn into this YA mystery as I read the brilliant opening featuring a brutal murder scene, and the synopsis focusing on the young Irish, quirky Niamh made it seem like a cursed person to be friends with. Each person she connects with ends up experiencing an attack that could potentially lead to a painful death!

Niamh only wanted to attend a summer drama course, leaving farm life behind to experience the big city, at least for the summer. However, when the girl she switched rooms with and another girl who borrowed her cardigan are attacked (one found dead in the room reserved for her, and the other in a coma), she feels as though someone is targeting her. As she delves deeper into the recent events in the city, she realizes that an attacker with similarities to a Victorian serial killer named Spring-Heeled Jack is targeting young women in dark alleys.

As Niamh considers returning to Ireland to avoid getting hurt, her assignment at the Victorian Museum gives her the opportunity to befriend Tommy: a gorgeous, retro-looking, kind, smart, and attentive young man she has a crush on. Despite her intuitions that something sinister is lurking around the museum, possibly connected to the recent attacks, she doesn't easily give up, even running away to her family. However, she has no idea about the kind of danger targeting these women, a danger that may change her life forever.

I enjoyed the book's opening and the fast-paced execution that brought me closer to giving it four stars. However, the ending was a bit meh, a little far-fetched for my taste. I was expecting a more reliable conclusion that made sense, so I decided to lower my rating to three stars.

I still appreciate the gripping writing style and story execution of the author, but unfortunately, this new book didn't resonate with me. My fingers are crossed, and I'm confident that I'll enjoy the next one more.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Random House Children’s/Delacorte Press for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange for my honest opinions.

It was good, I wish the supernatural elements were played up a bit more. It took me a while to realize it was a supernatural book. Maybe I'm just slow on the uptake.

This book set in London is an interesting mix of her mystery story and a occult/ghost story. When Niamh comes to London for a theater program that she has been so excited, for she has no idea the strange turn that her life is about to take. What did bother me about this book though was that throughout the entire book she literally only attended two theater classes. Seems like if that was the reason why she was there that should have been a incorporated a bit more into the story. What follows is a story that spends hundreds of years in London, modern day, serial killers, and the power of love. Certainly an interesting and quick read.
