While this wasn't quite the unexpected delight that LAUNDRY LOVE was, I'm pleased to be able to add this cheerful and useful companion volume to my bookshelf.
I thought this was really well written and I look forward to reading more from this author in the future. I think it will find readers at our library, so we will definitely be purchasing for the collection.
So many amazing great tips. I loved this book. A whole book of tips for the whole entire house. And easy to incorporate and actually stick with.
This book is full of so many wonderful tips and ideas! It is easy to read and I can't wait to try out some of the suggestions. It is one I know I will be referring back to many times.
I really enjoyed House Love! At first I will admit that I was wary about reading a book written by a man telling me how to keep my house, but Patric's kind voice pulled me through. You can tell he really has a passion for housekeeping and in no way did I feel judged for my less than perfect housekeeping skills. I loved these tangible tips he offered and how the book is organized. Now I want to read Laundry Love!
This was cute! I am admittedly terrible at house work. I didn't learn it coming up, and it doesn't come naturally. So, obviously, I wanted this book to fix me. Ha.
Did it? Kind of! It gave a lot of tips and tricks for how to make your home cozy and loved-in, and I need that in spades.
It delivers the promise it gave.
Was it all original, life changing stuff? Meh, not totally, but I still took notes, so I'm calling it a win.
What really did it for me for me was the conversational tone that they used. It felt like you were getting advice from a friend, which made the message land a lot better.
Cute! Solid 4.7.
HOUSE LOVE by Patric Richardson and Karin Miller is subtitled "A Joyful Guide to Cleaning, Organizing, and Loving the Home You're In." It is the second collaboration for Richardson, star of The Laundry Guy on HGTV and Discovery+, and Miller, a professional writer. There are chapters on specific house locations (e.g., Entryway, Bedroom, Kitchen, Garage) followed by ones on sustainability and making a house a home. Richardson adds an element of fun by sharing the cleaning playlists he uses in each area. His decorating tips, though, are not especially sophisticated (grosgrain ribbon, metallic paint, a disco ball light fixture?). The tone is meant (I think) to be cute, sassy, and "cheeky," but it falls short for me in terms of serving as motivation to get busy cleaning. Perhaps his intended audience is younger? Give this one a pass and look for more helpful (although humorous), inspiring texts like A DIRTY GUIDE TO A CLEAN HOME (now on NetGalley) or HOW TO KEEP HOUSE WHILE DROWNING (previously on NetGalley). 2.5 stars for HOUSE LOVE
I was really excited when I learned that Patric Richardson was releasing another book, as Laundry Love literally changed my life. While House Love didn't rock my world as much as it's predecessor, it was an interesting read with some helpful information. I'm just not sure if I'll be returning to it as much as I do Laundry Love.
While very comprehensive, there weren't alot of new ideas here for me. Each room includes her playlist and some family stories.
