As someone with a love of herbalism, botany, and nature as a whole, The Green Witch's Guide to Self-Care piqued my curiosity. Within the book, the author provides an informative introduction to green witchcraft, including a wide range of self-care tips, rituals, and spells.
The Green Witch's Guide to Self-Care is a well-rounded guide for those looking to integrate a bit of “green witch” wisdom into their daily routine.
Kind thanks to NetGalley, Callisto Media - Rockridge Press, and the author for an advanced reading copy of The Green Witch's Guide to Self Care.
Although I'm not a witch, I came to it with an open mind as someone eager to learn more about herbal-based self-care. I enjoy herbal remedies and natural self-care so I was curious to see how The Green Witch's Guide to Self-Care would compare to my own practices. It offers some interesting tips and recipes and I can see how it would appeal to those looking to deepen their connection with nature.
That said, the book leans heavily into the "witchy" angle, which, while an effective marketing draw, might limit broader appeal. Herbal knowledge is beneficial beyond the witchcraft community but the presentation might not resonate with everyone. Some sections felt more focused on aesthetic rather than practical advice.
Overall, it's a good introduction to herbal-based self-care, but if you're like me and looking for more straightforward, science-based practices, you may find it a bit light on that front. Still, it could be a fun, creative resource for those interested in blending nature with self-care practices.
Thoroghly enjoyed reading this book, loved the way everything flowed and would definitely read more books by this author.
As a witch I am always looking for new ways to give myself some self-care, so to find a book entirely on self-care for witch's I was ready to read it and put the suggestions in the book to use. If you are a witch and are looking for a helpful book on self-help than this is a good book to read.
This particular book will be a good reference to my library. I like the idea of intertwining plants and green magic within my self-care, as it is an easier way to remember to even do self-care. I would recommend this one to all of my green witches, or other witches who just want a different perspective on self-care.
A lovely introduction to green witchery. Love that it's really divided into two parts, what a green witch is and then how to apply it. Breaking down what self-care is and how its needed to thrive. I don't see myself as a green witch, but I love the connection to Earth. Love all the recipes.
I purchased this book later and absolutely love it! I am so sad I did not get to this before it was archived. Thank you so much for the chance to read this
Wonderful and Informative Book
First of all, the author discusses this book in two parts, which are:
1. Part 1 provides a basic introduction to green witchcraft, its origins and role in healing and self-care, and the correspondences and tools used, along with other information.
2. Part 2 contains fifty-five natural remedies, rituals, and spells for healing and self-care that you can incorporate into your daily life. The natural remedies are organized alphabetically by ailment and include healing methods for your mind, body, spirit, home, and community.
Autumn Willow discusses what green witchcraft is, its origin, and states that green witchcraft is a secular, earth-based practice that combines the use of natural objects, folk magic, and sustainable, environmentally friendly rituals to honor the earth and nature spirits. She further states that green witches are often naturalists, healers, and environmentalists who seek to use the earth’s wisdom and resources to enact positive change.
The author discusses self-care and defines it as “the ability of individuals, families, and communities to promote health, prevent disease, maintain health, and to cope with illness and disability.” Additionally, she discusses some of the benefits of self-care, magical tools of a Green Witch, and she discusses the meaning and uses candles, essential oils, crystals and stones, flowers, herbs and teas, and many others aspects of green witchcraft.
In part two, as previously mentioned, the author provides over fifty (50) everyday useful rituals and spells ranging from
creativity boosting, banishing fear, scales of justice to good luck spells, protection, stop the gossip, and many more.
This is a great reference book that is ideal for beginners. Highly recommend.
I've recently started my first garden and making tinctures & teas and it had me wanting to get more in tune with nature. I really loved how detailed and informative this book is and I love the "recipes".
This is very beginner friendly.
This book was an interesting read and offered alternative means of self care from cleansing the house through to spell jars and tea to keep you focused.
Netgalley ARC review
The green witch's guide to self-care is well written with the first half of the book explaining Autumn's experience of combining her witch craft with everyday life and how she uses the earth and elements to aid her with self-care. the second half of the book as some fantastic recipe's that are not only aimed at green witch's but everyone who is interested in self-care. Autumn's writing style is easy to follow and engages the reader as well as adding the key points at the end of each section provides the reader with easy to access points that doesn't involve having to reread whole sections of the book in order to look up the information needed.
Over all I enjoyed this book and will be adding a physical copy to my collection.
This is a really sweet little book with plenty of spells and rituals to choose from. I think it'll be great to reference in the future when I need a little something. Brain Fog Begone Tea seems particularly alluring for my scattered mother brain .

Cute, well written, a pleasure reading. I do feeel like a lot of the content is kinda known or I’ve seen many times. I would have liked alot more authentic either to the writer or original recipes. That’s just a personal opinion, since I review alot of this style content. But over all loved it and would recommend this to beginners and anyone who collects books like this. I would add this to my shelf.
Anytime I see something labeled with "The Green Witch," I know it is going to incorporate all the things that I love and this book does that perfectly! I love the way this book is written and how easy it is to read and follow, making it a very useful and practical self-help book. Highly recommend this one!!
While this book is targeted to Green witches, this book is for anyone who is interested in nature based self-care and products. if you don’t take care of yourself, how can you take care of others? This book is full of self-care, practices and routines that will allow you to take better care of yourself. It was an interesting read.
The Green Witches Guide to self-care by Autumn Willow is a great book on self care practices. The author dose a great job defining what self care is, and what it means. The book is divided in two sections. The first section is What a green witch is, and the second section is how to put the craft into practice. I have been practicing myself for over thirty years, and I highly recommend this book to All new witches.
The Green Witch's Guide to Self-Care" introduces readers to the philosophy of green magic and living in harmony with nature. It does a good job of providing tools and practices for healing the body, mind, and spirit through natural remedies and rituals. I love that the book is written with clear and concise writing, an engaging style, and also has a beautiful design. I think more experienced witches might find the material basic, but it really serves as a good introduction to the world of green witchcraft. I think this book will make a valuable resource for those interested in self-care and personal healing outside of traditional religion. I love the alternative approaches to self-improvement and well-being, and that it uses natural elements to encourage a positive mindset when engaging in spells and rituals.
Note: as I suffer from some chronic illness I always approach the Green self-care cum grano salis as I like to live in harmony with Mother Earth but i also listen to what science tells me.
That said this is an interesting book with ideas and suggestions.
Easy to follow and well written. You can share or not the ideas of the author but they could be an interesting basis for a discussion.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine
A great information book if starting to learn how to become a green witch, centring on self-care and caring for the environment. As someone who now has to look after her body more now (medically speaking) and not wanting to constantly have medications pumped into me, I found some of the herbal spells and remedies in this book eye opening and am excited to try them out. I will be picking up a copy of this book for my witchy shelves too.
Thank you NetGalley for the eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a great book! Every beginner Witch could benefit from the information and selfcare practices that are put in this book. Super informative, can't wait to get a physical copy!
