Lonely for You Only by Monica Murphy. What I would call a New Adult book. I really enjoyed the storyline, character development, and dialogue. I hope to get the chance to read more by this author.
I was really excited to read this. The blurb sounded so good ! However, I did really struggle to get into the story line. I couldn’t connect with the characters and it just didn’t suck me in.
I enjoyed this book, the story, and the writing style. I did feel it was quite a bit predictable from the beginning, which is why it's 4 instead of 5 stars. I enjoyed the story of a former boy-band member making his come back, along with the fake relationship. It did feel a bit like a book written for young teens, except a couple of spicy chapters.
Thanks to NetGalley and Black Stone Publishing for the advanced copy to review.

I made it 50% of the way through this book and just didn't feel compelled to continue. The story was ok, but predictable and didn't capture my attention. I read a lot of books, so it may be good for some, but for me it was just mediocre.
This was my first book by this author, and it won't be my last. I really enjoyed her writing style and the quick movement in the story. I enjoyed the characters, the theme and the storyline.
Lonely For You Only follows Scarlett, an heiress to a fortune, on her 18th birthday. Tate is a has been teen rock star hired to sing at her party. A series of mishaps brings these two together in a fun, rockstar and influencer story.
Scarlett wants to get out of the shadows of her family. Tate wants to get a second chance to make his dreams come true. When the world thinks they are a couple and Tate's former record producer come around to make his dreams come true, the two start a fake relationship. These two have great banter, and Tate really seems like a good guy and comes to really feel for Scarlett. Scarlett is innocent and Tate helps Scarlett to become more in touch with herself and to learn to stand on her own.
When their secret gets out, is the relationship over or will they get a second chance?
Scarlett and Tate were so much fun, had great banter were so cute together. I couldn't put it down. I just loved them. I can't wait to read more books from this author.
Lonely for You Only is a fun and entertaining, fake relationship romance. I loved the idea of a former musician given a second chance at fame after performing at a heiress's party. Tate and Scarlett had instant chemistry. I loved their banter and fight. Tate and Scarlett couldn't be more different from one another if they tried, but there was more to both of them than what meets the eye. I loved getting to learn more about them and seeing them navigate their way through fame and gossip.
Like any good romance, this one had its share of drama. Nothing too crazy, but just enough to cause conflict and keep you on your toes.
Overall, I thought this book was an enjoyable read and had a really great time getting swept up in this story.
This is the first book I've read from the author, and I personally just couldn't connect with the main character very well. The premise of the story was interesting, but overall I found myself struggling to stay focused and keep interested.
Unfortunately, I ran out of time due to personal circumstances so was not able to read, really sorry for any inconvenience.
Thank you Netgalley for this free arc in return for an honest review.
Monica Murphy...an author I may be leaving in 2023. Her books seem to revolve around the 'freshly turned 18' trope but in an adult book. This gives me a huge Ick. This book follows Scarlett, a spoiled heiress, and Tate, a recovering ex band member. I absolutely hated Scarlett throughout this book and did not feel a single thing for either of these characters.
Also can we stop labelling books as 'erotica' when theres 1-2 spicy scences? BFFR
"Lonely for You Only" by Monica Murphy is a part of the Lancaster Prep series. Having read the second book out of order (oops) and not reading any of the other books in the series afterward, my experience with this installment wasn't as enjoyable as with the second book. While the writing style remained consistent, the plot failed to captivate me. It simply lacked the engagement I found in the previous book.
Overall, it's a decent read, especially if you're invested in the series. However, I wouldn't recommend going out of your way for this one.

This book was just okay for me. This book follows the rich Scarlet Lancaster who has always lived in her parent’s shadow, and Tate Ramsey, a ex member of the hit band Five Car Pileup. After a scandal with Five Car Pileup Tate was left with no career for years, but when asked to perform at Scarlet’s 18th birthday party as a surprise from her father things change. This is a reformed playboy, fake dating romance. I personally felt like the book dragged on and both characters were toxic and annoying. Overall just an average book for me.

Special thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I love Monica Murphy!! I was so excited to be approved for this ARC! Her One Week Girlfriend series got me back into reading way back when. She is so near and dear to my heart. I loved this story. It’s everything you love about Monica Murphy and her writing style.
will not be reviewing this book as i dont want to support the author because of siding with an oppressor in a colonial violent oppression
This book was a little cheesy, but a nice fast read. Felt like it was written by a 15 year old girl.
Scarlet might be the heiress daughter of Fitzgerald Lancaster, but she prefers to be in the background with a book in her hand than being center stage. On her 18th birthday her parents decide to throw her a lavish party and she is dressed to impress. When she learns that her dad hired one of her favorite singers, she is hoping for Harry Styles, but ended up with Tate Ramsey. The once boy band member hit rock bottom and is now clean, sober, and ready to try his luck at a solo career. What he wasn’t expecting when he agreed to sing at a birthday party, was a kiss that would alter both of their lives. What starts as something fake turns into so much more and when push comes to shove these two need to decide if saving face or the love that is blooming between them is more important.
I love Monica and the Lancaster world so much. Fitzgerald is not as known as his two older brothers, but this man still holds that last name the same way they do. Scarlet may like her books but once this girl starts to find her voice, I love seeing her stick up for herself. Tate is perfect for her as he might be working to restart his career, but his muse becomes the one person he was expecting to fall into his life. This book is a lot lighter than all of Monica’s other Lancaster books with less angst than we typically see, but it is a breath of fresh air to watch yet another Lancaster cousin find themselves and a love that they never expected.
Thank you, NetGalley for providing me with an e-ARC of this book. The following opinion is my own.
DNF at 17%, I couldn´t get further in this book.
A young heiress of a rich Lancaster family and a long forgotten musician, who becomes again popular after their kiss? Thats how the story started. The problem, she is 18 and he is barely 21, but it is expressed as if the are super mature and experience feeling of almost 30 yo people who lived the life and have experienced it all.
The tension between the characters was also portrayed as too much, but they themselves looked insecure and immature at all at this age to have any feeling towards each other or any adequate attraction.
I unfortunately couldn´t continue the book as the actions of the characters and their feelings were not matched to their age group at all. It didn´t feel real, and only felt naive and childish.
Monica Murphy brings us to the more stable side of the Lancaster's. If that is possible! Scarlett Lancaster is having THE birthday party for her 21st. Her dad hires her favorite boy band singer from her teen years as surprise entertainment. Tate is looking for a comeback, and when a heated kiss between the two is caught on camera and and goes viral, Tate sees his chance. A song Tate writes about Scarlett hits the top of the charts, Tate gets his second chance from a record company that wants Scarlett by his side. Can the two of them keep the up appearances without falling for each other? #netgalley #monicamurphy #lancaster #lonelyforyouonly
Tate is a former boy bander, reformed bad boy, and now he has a chance to bring back his career thanks to his performance at Scarlett Lancasters 18th birthday party. What he doesn’t expect is the kiss he and Scarlett shared going viral.
There is some chemistry between Tate and Scarlett, they have some great banter, and its no hardship for them to fake a relationship for the public. I like that Scarlett is trying to find who she is and not just using her name and wealth to get it.
I struggled to connect with the characters and story. The pace was a little slow for me and I felt like it took longer than it should have for them to admit their feelings for each other. It wasn’t bad, just not for me.
If you’re looking for a fake relationship, rockstar, angsty, slow burn check this one out.
Ok Monica I see you with the fake dating troupe. I LOVED this. Plus the rockstar being the love interest that’s fun I love me some music Just like her other “Lancaster prep” novels they just pull you in and won’t let you go. I finished this book so quickly I hope there’s more books in this world
This is my third book by Monica Murphy and she has yet to disappoint. This is a story about redemption, and the struggles with relatability, respect and purpose in your life. It was good to get immersed in the Lancaster family again. A sweet love story about a couple you are rooting for the whole way through.
