This is my second Monica Murphy book and it did not dissappoint! I really enjoyed this book, and I read it fairly quickly! If you're looking for a fake dating, enemies to lovers romance with some spice then this is your next book! The only thing I didn't really love was the fact that once Scarlett started her love interest in Tate, there was no more talk of Ian which was surprising since she was so in love with him for her whole life. Otherwise, this book was great!

4.5/5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟
This could've earned a full 5 star from me if it weren't for some flaws below:
Spice: 1/5 🌶 Slowburn, almost bordering to non existent, but lots of kisses on this.
Story/plot 3/5: fakedating, pop star/influencer type, rich girl trope.
The slow burn is slow burning so slooooow on this. I did not DNF solely for the reason of side characters on this, i might have loved it more than Crew and wren's but i am so torn with how the story unfolded on this, so many details unnecessary to the story. I hated the company and some extra characters added so spice up the story did not do it. I love how the love grew and how he's a changed man. But i hated how abrupt and seemingly rushed the end was, it almost seemed they took the easy way out of the story. With his personality and all it seemed so odd to make the announcement like that, so anticlimactic that i knew it the moment Gloria insisted.
Another thing, i stayed on the story cause of the years of pining she had i thought we'll get more quotes on that. But it seemed he was so out of the picture in a snap. Well i don't likw his character so i think that's for the better atleast. But it took me 3/4 of the book to get good quotes i can fedl like i can highlight.l so the wrirting isn't talhat profound.
I haven't read other lancaster prep series wholly apart from Wren and Crew. I dnf the others but gave this a chance as i think Tate has something but it fell short on me.
Characters: 4/5 would have been 5 star if it wasn't for the real life similarity to 1D with Simon and A talkshow with Jimmy as well. Could've used a better naming strategy on that cause that seriously made me cringe i find myself skipping reading those names.
But honestly i love the parent's and bestfriend characters. Refreshing that the takes of books lately is with open minded parents who listens and cares for their child
Monica Murphy is my Roman Empire author. If she writes it, I’m reading it.
This was another 5star read for me.
I couldn’t put my kindle down. The plot and the spice were so good .
When I read the synopsis for this book I had to read it. So so so good. I also loved reading about another Lancaster! I thought I was done after reading You said I was your favorite, but so happy to have one more book about the Lancaster .
Monica always knows how to suck me in and fall in love with her characters and their stories.
I should have known better. I should have an entire section dedicated to books that fall under that category. Anything with the words "bookTok' in the description should INSTANTLY be in red and an instant rejection for me.
This is written for a very specific audience, and that is not me. I need something with substance. I need something with heft, with balls, with gumption. This....is nothing. This is fluff. This is a teenagers dream of love and sex.
No thanks.
Such a cute little romance. A hint of spice that just hits the spot. If you’ve ever screamed the name of a boy band member, this one is for you.
The plot caught my attention when I read it, and personally, I had read books by the author that I liked.
It all started on Scarlett's birthday, basically she is a privileged heiress, and she somehow wants to find herself taking away everything her family has. He is the lead singer of a band she listened to before, and his dad brought him to sing to him on his birthday.
In a nutshell, the band doesn't even listen to the scandals they had in the past. The encounter they accidentally have is a kiss that goes viral, and they decide to have a false relationship for the common good.
Throughout the book, we see the relationship of the two of them, as well as their personal challenges they go through.
I don't think it was my kind of reading because the things I would have liked to laugh at was not taking the story seriously. The book in a few words was quick to read, but it was a little overwhelming some things about the characters and there were some things that didn't make sense.
I enjoyed the book, but some things were very annoying.
thank you Netgalley & Monica Murphy for the arc in exchange for an honest review.
Lonely For You Only is another winner in the Lancaster family universe. I'm always a goner for a story about finding your 'one' when least expected and that's exactly what happens to Scarlett Lancaster and the former bad boy of pop, Tate Ramsey. Monica Murphy once again channels her inner teenager giving Scarlett all the best and truly real kinds of reactions, as the 18-year-old navigates a whirlwind fake romance that takes off after her big birthday bash and surprising kiss from her former heartthrob. Their agreement to act like the power couple they most definitely would be to help Troy reestablish his lagging popularity begins a sweet kind of slow-burn as these two set up house in L.A. And once they start to see each other as more than the uptight rich girl and the smug has been, their chemistry becomes that much more evident and real love emerges, shocking them both.
I really liked this branch of the Lancaster family with father Fitzy a real character and a half as he tries to impart some of his wild side to his little girl. I loved his bravado and his confidence that although was definitely a bit narcissistic at times, he was clearly the lighter side of being a Lancaster. And I have to say that as Scarlett begins to channel her dear old dad a bit while living with Tate, a whole new world opens up to her, perhaps changing the course of the life she thought she had to lead, in the very best way.
Tate is a bit of a rascal, keeping some of his bad-boy ways at the ready as he starts to fall for his muse with each passing day. The fact that he needs his Scar to not only complete his new album but be by his side when no one ever really has, broke my heart a bit for the sexy singer. But he's a truly good guy and exactly the kind of man to allow Scarlett to be her own person and not just part of a family dynasty.
There is plenty of back and forth together with trying to keep out of the spotlight that threatens the newfound happiness that both Scarlett and Tate need and deserve as the book progresses. And with a touching last-ditch effort to show the world that his Scar is his everything I may have swooned a bit as the last few chapters were read.
Stories like this one where love finds a way to change two people for the better as they grow closer due to forced proximity will always grab my attention. Then with the Monica Murphy treatment, I know I will fall for both main characters and the crazy-good love they create. With a sweet happy for now kind of ending, I can only hope we hear more from this side of the Lancaster crew and get to see Scarlett and Tate again and soon.
4 big stars!
Fake Dating, enemies to lovers, ex-boy band member, oh my. When Scarlet celebrates her 18th birthday, her dad gets what he thinks is the next best thing to Harry Styles, Tate (the lead singer from her favorite band when she was 13) to preform. One thing leads to another and a few photos and videos of him preforming go viral on social media, his old manager comes back to help him get his career on track, with one condition. Scarlet comes along too. The only problem, the publicity she got from the photos was not what she wanted, and she's not happy about it. Can he convince her to go along with the plan, and if he does, will it even work?
First things first, this book has some of the cutest writing I have read in a while. Yes, there is some spice, but nothing to get too worked up over imo, but just a warning. There is romance, love, kindness, understanding, and the chemistry. Seriously, if you want a cute romcom to take up your weekend, this one is it. I adored the chemistry between the two mc's, the best friend is hilarious and one that really stands with her best friend instead of being a jealous brat. And the dynamic between Scarlett and her parents is something I could only dream of.
If it isn't clear, I loved this book. I am adding this one to my shelf IRL when it comes out.
Really good story, lots of twists and turns.
Main characters get together in suspicious circumstances and end up falling for each other.
Enjoyable read.
Cute read!
I thought this book was very cute and a great addition to the Lancaster series! Like a rich girl and bad boy rockstar star, an immediate yes. The story was cute and the plot was fun. There were so many cute moments but other than that it was just okay. I’m a huge fan of Monica’s books and this one was good! It’s a quick read with a cute romance story!
Phew. I had such a fun time reading this book!
It starts out with a strong introduction to the characters, Scarlett (an heiress) and Tate (a former boy band member). You get a good sense of who they are and what their worlds are. The storyline is believable and fast-paced. The spice is a nice slow burn and fits the new adult category perfectly. I particularly loved the fan fiction feel of this story.
I didn't know this book was in a series when I read it. Based on my experiences with this one, I'm likely to check out her other books. I devoured this book in 2 days and am definitely left wanting more.
I received Lonely For You Only by Monica Murphy for free in exchange for an honest review from NetGalley. I have to say that I really enjoyed this book. I honestly forgot I had gotten it from NetGalley for free and thought it was one of the e-books that I purchased for myself to read. I would have happily paid for this book. It was hot and enjoyable! Can't wait to read more from this author!
Recently, I picked up "Lonely For You Only" by Monica Murphy, intrigued by the premise of a rock star romance. The story centers on Scarlett Lancaster, an heiress whose 18th birthday takes an unexpected turn when she's paired with Tate Ramsey, a former boy band member, rather than the pop icon she hoped for. Their staged kiss goes viral, propelling Tate back into fame and binding their lives in a feigned romance for the public eye.
As their fake relationship unfolds, genuine feelings begin to blur the lines of their agreement. While the plot weaves a compelling narrative of fame, second chances, and unexpected love, I found the character depth lacking, particularly in Scarlett, whose personality doesn't shine as brightly as it could. Tate's characterization, intended to be alluring, sometimes crosses into discomfort, overshadowing the romantic potential of the storyline. The book had promise, but ultimately, the execution didn't hit the high note I was looking for.
A Monica Murphy book straight out of the Lancaster Prep series. Although it does not take place at the prep school , due to her recently graduating, it does contain a heiress who is miss Scarlett Lancaster herself.
It is a dysfunctional family drama, opposites attract, enemies-to-lovers, fake dating read, and I enjoyed the story till the last page was turned.
A classic romance novel but with a twist, while miss scarlett shares her "life challenges" of trying to escape her wealthy family's, well-known name, to be HER.
The chapters are written in character perspective, which we love , but I do wish that Tate was a bit more exciting from the beginning. in the end the chemistry the two share, saves the day and makes up for it you; because can't help but to want to vote for them throughout the novel and adore them together
con:
Will there be a playlist added before publishing date??? seeing's how its based on a band leader/singers' love life, i really would have thought it would have had a playlist to listen to while reading, Was a little bummed that their wasn't, for i love listening to an author music perspective of their own novel while reading.
All in all this Monica Murphy book is a wild ride. Very sexy, spicy, heartwarming, but heartbreaking.
An enjoyable and fast romantic read that I highly recommend grabbing a copy!
Thank you Netgalley, Blackstone publishing, and Monica for my arc !
First off thank you to NetGalley and Blackstone publishing for a copy of the ARC in exchange for an honest review. Now on to the book, Lonely For You Only is the latest book by Monica Murphy, author of the Lancaster Prep series. While this book does take place in the Lancaster universe and has a Lancaster as the main female character it does not take place at the prep school as our heroine has recently graduated. The book itself is a cure, lighthearted read centering around a fake dating trope involving heiress Scarlett Lancaster and former boy band star Tate Ramsey.
This book is a great quick read that is fun and easy to get through. I would definitely recommend it as palette cleanser to heavier romance books as it doesn’t have a high volume of angst or drama and tends for the most part to stay on the lighter side of things. If I had any complaints it would be that I wish we had gotten into the action quicker. It felt like we were building up to the central plot of fake dating for a rather long time. Also the ending seemed rushed and I wish we had a little more time with the characters after they resolved the third act conflict. However neither of the these things took away from the story itself or my overall enjoyment of it.
If you want a lighthearted and fun rock star romance, look no further.
Not my favorite from Murphy, which is sad, because the series this book is related to is a favorite of mine. For some reason, Lonely for You Only just didn’t resonate with me.
Thank you to Monica Murphy and NetGalley for giving me a copy of this book.
Young heiress Scarlett Lancaster is delighted when her father tells her he hired a famous pop star and former boy band member to play at her eighteenth birthday. But delight becomes utter disappointment when it turns out he wasn't talking about Harry Styles. No, Scarlett's dad hired Tate Ramsey, former lead singer of the band Five Car Pileup, who hasn't been popular for years. Tate, after years of alcohol- and drug-fueled partying, is sober and ready for a comeback. He is in top form at Scarlett's party and blows the audience away with his performance--though Scarlett herself still isn't impressed. But when they talk after he leaves the stage, their encounter ends in a kiss that surprises them both--and immediately goes viral. The viral kiss and the video of Tate singing at the party do wonders for both of their burgeoning careers. So after some careful negotiation, the two of them agree to start a fake relationship. But before long they discover their feelings might not be fake after all ...
I thoroughly enjoy reading this. It is a sweet and cute romance. An enjoyable read.
Sexy and spicy! Don’t be fooled despite the steam in this book I was also feeling the heartbreak and yearning. Read this for a wild ride!
Really loved the fake dating trope in this one & I was super excited about the premise when I first got this book. However after getting into it, I felt it didn't excite me as much as I hoped and by the end I thought it was simply fine? I think my main issue was our female main character being slightly TOO annoying for my tastes and that sort of ruined moments in my reading experience?
Overall it was a cute idea, and the MMC was fantastic, definitely a cute one but not one I'd read again!
Thank you NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review!
Scarlett is thrilled when her dad secures a big name pop start to play at her 18th birthday only to find out it isn't who she expected. Sparks fly anyway and when a video of their off stage kiss goes viral, they decide to take advantage for their careers. Fake dating leads to real feelings that they must navigate.
