I’ve been enjoying this series so far but this one fell a little flat for me. I’m not sure why but I had a hard time picking this one up and sticking with it. It seemed to drag a lot for the first half then really picked up its pace.

No one does spice like Katee Robert!

I loved the characters and banter.

There's nothing quite like a mob story!

4/5 stars
Katee Robert never disappoints, and she didn’t do so today. No she outdid herself with this book! I loved every second of it. I love it!

This is book 3 in the O'Malley's series, and it could be read as a standalone but I would read the previous books before this one. These characters interact in those books and there is some back story there as well. Greed. Ambition. Violence. Those are the "values" Olivia Rashidi learned from her Russian mob family-and the values she must leave behind for the sake of her daughter. When she meets Cillian O'Malley, she recognizes the red flag of his family name . . . yet she still can't stop herself from seeing the smoldering, tortured man. To save her family, Olivia sets out to discover Cillian's own secrets, but the real revelation is how fast-and how hard-she's falling for him. Plagued by a violent past, Cillian is more vulnerable than anyone realizes. Anyone except Olivia, whose beauty, compassion, and pride have him at "hello," even if she's more inclined to say good-bye to an O'Malley. While his proposal of sex with no strings seems simple, what he feels for her isn't, especially after he learns that she belongs to a rival crime family. Cillian knows that there is no escape from the life, but Olivia may be worth trying-and dying-for.

I really wanted to love this book, but it was just ok for me. I had a really hard time feeling like I was engaged with the characters and their story. I normally love mafia books, especially when they are Irish! And I did like Cillian. But Olivia just annoyed me from the beginning. I don't know what it was about her, but I just didn't like her. The story itself wasn't bad, it just felt slightly off with the characters. And that very well could just be me. I just didn't feel like they were a match. The writing was still good, and the spicy scenes were definitely spicy! But for me, it was just ok.

I have heard a lot about this author but never read anything by her. After this book I will absolutely be checking out more of her books. The writing is original and she has a great use of metaphors. The sentences are as smooth as butter. Highly recommend for libraries with a romance readership.

Twisted Secrets by Katee Robert is a dark, intense, and steamy romance that leans heavily into suspense and the complexities of morally gray characters. Part of her Thorne Academy series, it follows characters entrenched in a world of power, manipulation, and passion, navigating dangerous secrets and tangled relationships.

Robert is known for writing emotionally charged, sometimes taboo romances with a twist of danger, and Twisted Secrets delivers on that front. The protagonists, typically flawed and driven by intense personal motives, face both external threats and inner demons, which keeps readers on edge. The steamy scenes are vivid and central to the story, adding to the tension and dynamic between the characters.

If you're a fan of dark romance with edgy plots and high-stakes passion, Twisted Secrets will likely appeal to you. However, if you prefer lighter romance or are uncomfortable with darker, more intense themes, this book might not be for you. The pacing is fast, the stakes are high, and the emotional depth makes it a gripping read for fans of the genre.

I initially wasn’t sure going into the series if I was going to like it or not, but I am so forever grateful to forever publishing for giving me the opportunity to read this series! At this moment, I have just completed the entire O’Malley series. Thanks to the help Libby and Hoopla, but my God, what an amazing series to republish!!

Twisted secrets is the book that follows Cillian O’Malley and Olivia Rishidi. Cillian might just be my favorite brother in the series. I also love that Olivia was a bad ass, single mother doing everything she could protect Hadley and make their lives better!

Olivia is the half sister to Dimitri Romanoff and does not want the mafia life to affect her daughter. She begins working in a bar that is frequented by Cillian, despite him being sober for over a year after Devlin’s death. Grumpy, sober, mafia man meets, guarded and angry single mom!

The action in this was awesome accompanied by the slow burn relationship between Cillian and Olivia. Granted, they did have a spicy scene prior to aligning together to protect her from Dimitri’s man and her baby daddy. But the two were a perfect pair and complement each other completely. The scenes of Cillian with Hadley were adorable!

I just love the series so much and I am now forcing everyone I know to read it!

Hotttttt! Katee Robert knows how to turn up the spice. I've read many of her greek god inspired books, so this mafia one was a nice departure from that. I really enjoyed it.

Katee Robert can do no wrong, she always gives east, fast paced reads. I lo e using them as palate cleansers between big, intimidating fantasy books.

I had forgotten I'd read this book in it's first incarnation and the second time around it's even better. Katee Robert knows how to twist a tale and bring in the heat. Loved it!

There was a nice amount of intensity and drama in this. The writing was great, I was totally pulled in. It was very much a page-turner for me. That ending, I was seriously on the edge of my seat. There is a nice amount of detail throughout. It’s intense, a bit violent, and I feel like it's unique. We have our love interests of course and there is an HEA but with the crazy world they live on, there's just so much more at play. I'm completely hooked.

This one fell flat for me, while I typically love her books I just hard a hard time getting through this one or even wanting to pick it up and finish it. Also, while these can be read as stand-alone I think it really helps reading the first two and getting more of a back story but again not needed. If you enjoy her writing, plots and storylines chances are you will like this and I will try to retry this one later on.

Another great addition to the O'Mally storyline. Katee Roberts does it again! We finally get Cillian O'Malley's point of view and it doesn't disappoint. Cillian needs something good in his life to keep going, Olivia may just be that thing.

Good pacing and spicy moments that linger.

Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher, and author for the copy of this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

The steam was lacking in this one for a Katee Robert book.
