Twisted Secrets is the 3rd book in the OMalleys series. This is a Mafia/Single Parent romance that gave us steam, action, suspense, violence, family drama and so much more.

Although each book in the series is a standalone featuring a different couple, there is an interconnected story that continues with each book.

This novel follows Cillian O'Malley and Olivia Rashidi. These two were complex characters each with their own baggage, and what was supposed to be one night, quickly turned into more.

They had an undeniable connection and I loved how they changed each other life.
I loved how protective Cillian was and I loved seeing the steely edges emerge at times in his protectiveness towards Olivia and her daughter.

This story moved a bit slower than the other books however it didn't fully detract from the drama, deceit, lies and secrets playing out in the overarching story. I loved that we got to see the characters from the previous books and see how their lives changed and how they all interacted in the present book.

This was another enjoyable installment in this series and I can't wait for more. I would definitely recommend this novel to lovers of mafia romance.

What To Expect:

Irish Mob

Forever Publishing is rebranding Katee Robert’s The O’Malleys series. The O’Malleys are a Boston mafia family. In addition to new covers and new titles, Robert has reworked some things that she felt didn’t hold up. I always appreciate her, “when you know better, you do better” attitude. I am not sure what has changed in the text, because I hadn’t gotten around to reading the series before now. Twisted Secrets is the third in a six book series. I appreciate it more as a part of a series than I do as an individual book. The first two books of the series, now titled Dark Succession and Heated Rivals, felt like they had a more complete story arc, while Twisted Secrets is both dependent on previous events and laying the foundation for future stories. It’s always a tough spot for middle of the series books.

Cillian O’Malley blames himself for the death of his brother, Devlin. Since Devlin’s death, he’s trying to be a better person, less impetuous, and he’s stopped drinking alcohol. He still goes to the bar with the hot bartender who ignores him though, even if he’s just drinking apple juice and failing to impress her. Olivia, the hot bartender, has good reasons to ignore Cillian, but her good reasons go out the window when an argument turns into a quick bang in the alleyway behind the bar in chapter one. Olivia is Dmitri Romanov’s (antagonist in book 2) long ignored half sister, a single mother of a toddler, and trying to escape the mafia family life.

While I thought the plot and emotional development was on the weak side, it’s still a Katee Robert romance. Consent and respect go hand in hand with dirty talk and spicy action. I continue to appreciate that even when Robert’s characters express possessiveness, they want their love interest to be safe and happy more than they want ownership.

CW: panic attacks, threats of violence, on page violence, elderly woman hospitalized after violent attack, death, gun violence, child endangerment, kidnapping, grief, toxic parents.

I received this as an advance reader copy from Forever Publishing and NetGalley. My opinions are my own, freely and honestly given.

This series is so addicting, holy crow.

When I started this, I got the impression I wouldn't like this one much. Colour me pleasantly surprised that this is absolutely my favourite so far. Especially a shock when I normally don't care for single mother characters/plotlines. But I loved Olivia so much. And Cillian gave serious Peaky Blinders vibes in the best way possible.

I just have one question: how in the actual hell does Dmitri Romanov get with the youngest O'Malley in book 6??? Because considering how much trouble this man causes I am at a complete loss as to how that comes about.

This is a perfectly enjoyable installment in another mafia romance series. Did some of the non-romantic plotlines wrap up a little too quickly? Yes. But did I enjoy the romance? Also, yes.

I read this in less than a day, but didn't find any of the plot to be particularly memorable. That all being said, it's a perfectly fine book if you're a mafia romance lover.

Loved Cillian and Olivia together.

Olivia was tough but sweet. She was such a good mom and always put her daughter first. I'm so glad she allowed herself to trust Cillian. I was so worried she would try to do everything on her own.

And Cillian and Hadley. Ugh, what is it about these big, badass, tattooed men melting for the FMC's kid? I just loved all their little moments together.

Per usual, Katee brought the drama, the heat, and the spice. You will not be let down in that department.

I personally am just loving the gradual build of this series. You get little snippets of previous books and a preview of what's to come in each book. The plot just builds on top of each book.

We have Sloane, Aiden, and Kiera left. I CAN NOT WAIT.

Katee Robert has done it again! This is one of the best contemporary romances I’ve ever read! It is a mafia romance with members of (sort of) rival families who fall for each other - sort of a Romeo and Juliet type concept - but with an HE.

The FMC, Olivia, is running from her past and just interested in taking care of her infant daughter. The MMC, Cillian, is also haunted by his past, but in a much different way. Though he is mafia, he is such a cinnamon roll character, and I loved his attention to Olivia. He definitely has “touch her and die” vibes, but he is so sweet with her and her daughter. She is also no push over. I loved all the characters.

There was a bit of a weird interloping story with Cillian’s sister, and it never really addressed her situation. I am guessing this is setting us up for the next book to figure out what happens to her. Or, I hope so, because I really want to know more!

I loved every single page and read the entire story in a day. 5/5 stars for this new mafia romance!

Katee Robert does it yet again. Fun, sexy, SPICY; mafia romance told the way only Katee can. This is my favourite in the series thus far and I cannot wait to see what's next.

4.25 Stars
This was super fun and steamy, in true Katee Robert fashion. While I think this one is the weakest in the series thus far, I still really enjoyed it. While I really enjoyed Cillian and Olivia’s story this book has me really looking forward to Sloan’s book and Keira’s, especially since her book is with Dmitri.

Katee Roberts has done it again, this book was one that I had read in one sitting! Just like her other books, there is an awesome plot line, characters, and spice!

As always, a win from Katee Robert! I'm really enjoying this series, it's fun, sexy, and really gets you invested in the families and their dynamics. Thank you for the early read!

Thank you Katee Robert and Netgalley for sending me an arc copy of Twisted Secrets in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I’m glad that I read the other two in the series before this one. Each story does stand up on its own but they do tie nicely together. Katee Robert's does a great job making each of the couple's stories stand out in this series. Her character development is like no other. I find myself really empathizing with the characters. The plot can be a bit slow at times but overall the storyline is great and entertaining with a nice blend of spice. I was hooked to the last page.

I recommend this book (and this series) to anyone who is a fan of a good mafia romance.

Katee did it again, y'all. Did it again. I will say that this one took me a little longer to get into than the first two in the series BUT I think it ended up being my favorite in the end. Cillian is one of those characters you just wanna give a hug. Olivia too. And sweet baby Hadley. This book has my whole heart. That's all.

4⭐️ 3🌶️

This man is THE definition of if he wanted to he would and I will die on this hill!!! It’s truly books like these that make one realize how low our standards have fallen 😩😩

It’s Katee Robert and it’s the O’Malleys series. I’ve yet to read something by her I haven’t loved and this series is no exception. So far every single book has been terrific. This one has not surpassed one or two for me but it was still such a good read!!

There’s so much chemistry, I love that it was established early on in the series too because thing move at a quicker pace so they don’t feel so insta lovey. Cilian is a freaking sweetheart and I love him so much!! I wanted to story to go on for a little longer when the ending came. The tension was great, the spice was even better. Love seeing single mothers represented. It was satisfying the way thing concluded and it’s left me all the more excited to see where the rest of the siblings will end up!!

I would like to thank Katee Robert for sending me an arc of Twisted Secrets via Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I haven't read the other books in this series (yet) but Cillian and Olivia's story makes me want to go back to see the interesting familal dynamics in play. I appreciated the not-super-slow burn and of course Katee's signature spice. There were a few elements that felt a bit off or rushed during the narrative, but overall a very enjoyable read.

Before I begin, I would like to thank Forever and Katee Robert for sending me an arc of Twisted Secrets via Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I am so happy I got an arc for the third book in this series. If you have read my previous reviews for this series, you know how much I enjoy it. I'm going to admit, I was a little worried I would like Cillian's story, because I just didn't connect to him in the last two books. I connected to him in Twisted Secrets, though.
I really liked this book!
Katee Robert's has done a good job making each couple's story stand out in this series. Whereas in Dark Succession, Teague and Callista were an arranged marriage to partner up their families, and in Heated Rivals, it was a forbidden love between enemy families, Cillian's book has an interesting plot device. Still a forbidden love story, because Cillian and Olivia are each a member of enemy families, but different because of the circumstances Olivia is in. Whereas in Heated Rivals, Carrigan and James know its forbidden, and the consequences of their relationship, Cillian doesn't know Olivia is technically the daughter of the Rashidi family; a prominent family in the Russian mob and located in New York, and a family that is not pleased with the O'Malley's (as Carrigan (Heated Rivals) was arranged to be married to Oliva's brother before she ran off to be with James). Another difference is Olivia doesn't want to be a Rashidi. In fact, she fled New York and was living with her daughter in hiding, because she doesn't want to obligations she would be forced to accept being a Rashidi.

It's an interesting dynamic, especially with the addition of an eighteen-month old child.
I'm not usually a fan of children in romances.
I have kids. I don't need to read about them. haha.
But seriously, Katee managed to write the little girl into the story without it being overburdened with kids and family life. I appreciate that, because I won't lie, reading Cillian being so good with her was lovely to read. I do love it when a guy who isn't around children all that much is just naturally good with them.
Because of course our book hero is good with kids!

The overall story in Twisted Secrets is great. It's entertaining. I was hooked to the last page. Cillian and Olivia were likeable characters, and the chemistry between them was great. I can't wait to read the next book in the series - Beautiful Vengeance - which is expected to be published with its new name and cover March 2024. As for Twisted Secrets, expect it on shelves September 19th, 2023.

WRONG REVIEW! Will change when I finish Twisted Secrets!

We all knew after Dark Succession that it was only a matter of time before Carrigan and James had another run in and we all knew it would be fireworks. They did and it was. In Heated Rivals, we follow along as they try deny their attraction because of how problematic it would be for their pride and their family rivalry. The more they try to deny it though, the more attractive they become to each other. Unfortunately, Carrigan is being forced into a marriage that will benefit her family and James is absolutely not on that list. So even though all she can think about his him and all he can do is think about her, she feels like she has no choice but to select someone her father approves of. ....and that is the first three fourths of the novel....they're push and pull to want each other and deny each other. The last fourth is where it gets juicy. Loyalties are tested, family decisions are huge and on the line, and the end leaves you just waiting for what will happen with next.

I'm digging the weaving of the narrative of the other siblings into each of these novels and wonder where they'll end up and with whom.

The bastard child of the Russian mob and a guilt ridden Irishman walk into a bar…no literally…

Olivia has ran from her life in NY for not only her sake, but her daughters. All it takes is one frisky moment in the alley outside the bar she works at with Cillian and he’s rushing to save the day for her. With the Irish and the Russians at odds, it’s a recipe for turmoil and backstabbing for these two to come together. It would be simple for him to send her back home and do what’s right for his family, only his heart won’t allow it.

Get ready for a white night savior begging to prove himself to a damsel who generally can handle sh!t herself and some mouse shaped pancakes. This was an incredibly hot read and such an engaging story.

I really enjoyed this book; I’m glad that I read the other two in the series before this one. You don’t necessarily have to read the other two but it does provide some back story to this book. I would recommend reading the first two.

I’m really enjoying this series, the story and the spice! Out of all the Katee Robert’s books I think this is my favourite series from her!

This has been my favorite one so far. I love seeing how the siblings get out from under their father's thumb and start to thrive on their own. Cillian and Olivia were fiery and I enjoyed watching their smoking hot chemistry explode. Really hope that everyone comes to their senses about Carrigan soon but she's out there living her best life so whatever. This series is a lot of fun.
