In this informative book, Ms Gartner effusively shares her love for her hometown, New York City, with the reader. The book mainly covers the borough of Manhattan although the Brooklyn Bridge and the Staten Island Ferry are both mentioned as well.

The book is divided into sections each of which is devoted to a specific area of Manhattan. Extensive information is provided regarding each including the nickname of that area, what the boundaries are, and what the area is most well known for. Suggested places to go in each area are provided as well. They include restaurants, stores, and more.

There are also lists of specific things throughout the book, such as, independent bookstores, parks, etc. These lists are not confined to one area but include locations all around the borough of Manhattan. There are plenty of gorgeous full-color photographs throughout the book as well.

If you are planning a trip to Manhattan this is definitely not the only guide you will need. Despite the abundance of information provided here, there is still a lot more to Manhattan than this. However, the book is a worthy addition to any books you are using to plan your trip, and it's also just fun to read even if you aren't planning a trip to New York any time soon.

Dearest New York, I want to say that its love story. The book makes you fall in love with New York all over again. Its a wonderful book, with illustrations so beguiling that you want to keep it around long after you have read it. A perfect book to curl up with and leave around. All the special neighborhoods and so many special places to visit. I can't recommend this book enough. Wall done Deirdre Gartner.

It's a short but beautiful book about New York, filled with pictures of the city and suggestions from the author about places and views. Very lovely!

Call me déclassé, but I was entranced by the amazing number of dogs included in this loving pictorial of a meandering through Manhattan complete with facts and other forms of reminiscences. Can't say what I enjoyed most, except for the photos and love notes to the NYPL. This book is a feast for the eyes as well as a happy low key learning experience. Can't wait to get a *real* copy for myself!
I requested and received an EARC from Globe Pequot via NetGalley. Thank you!
