I received a copy of this eBook from netGalley for a honest review.
I loved the daily ideas on how to romanticize your life and just make it better in general without focusing on needing a partner. I enjoyed doing some of the activities and coming up with lists.
Romanticize Your Life is a delightful guide that encourages readers to infuse everyday moments with magic and intention. The concept of embracing a 'slow era' resonates throughout the book, inviting us to step back from the chaos and appreciate the beauty in simplicity. Each entry offers creative ideas that are both practical and inspiring, from rearranging your living space to enjoying a solo date. While the suggestions are enjoyable, some may find them a bit idealistic for everyday life, especially amidst busy schedules. Nevertheless, the book’s charm lies in its ability to spark joy and mindfulness in the mundane, making it a worthwhile read for anyone looking to enhance their daily experiences.
Aesthetically pleasing but that's about it. I'm disappointed that such a good-looking book actually offered so little value.
Most of the tips are very basic, surface-level and repetitive e.g. picking your theme song of the month, creating a mood board, going for walks. I don't need a book to tell me that. It also feels like random quotes by famous people are also simply plonked in for filler content.
Still, there were a handful of good reminders such as mapping out favourite spots in your neighbourhood, cleaning out your fridge and showing gratitude.
I also adored the book's charming vibes and pretty illustrations, but overall it was a forgettable read.
This was a fun book filled with self-care tips and ways to make every day more whimsical. I'm looking forward to trying out some of the ideas!
I thought this was really well written and I look forward to reading more from this author in the future. I think it will find readers at our library, so we will definitely be purchasing for the collection.
I loved that this book specified a daily "challenge" to help me Romanticize My Life. While I thought they'd be over the top and a bit ridiculous, I was surprised with the depth of some of the challenges. Some aren't even challenges, just words of encouragement and wisdom. This book felt like a daily sit down with a wise grandmother making sure I'm not letting a second of life pass me by. Highly recommended!
I adored this book and can't wait to get my hands on a physical copy. It was one of the best books I read in 2023. It is exactly what I believe slow living entails. The book offers one activity/practice a day for an entire year. Most of them were things I already did, but it did offer a few new suggestions. One of my favorites is hosting a 'favorite things' party. That idea was new to me, exciting, and affordable. This book is perfect for anyone who wants a beautiful book containing hundreds of actionable ideas on how to appreciate your present. It does not explain slow living, it guides you through it. It would also make an inspired gift. I am so excited for everyone to read it.
A truly delightful read. Written as 365 ideas for romanticising the daily grind, I found myself making notes throughout of things to come back to.
While none of the ideas were particularly ground-breaking, it was a lovely compilation of recommendations ranging from recipes to financial tips and suggestions for connecting with others, making life cozier, and practicing self-care.
I read it all at once but it would be a great book to follow day by day as it's written to perfectly capture the seasons through the year.
My ONLY gripe was the suggestions for further financial books to read. Yes, they are 'classic' financial books but to include some of these outdated and toxic all-male influences felt really jarring in a book that is so wonderfully cozy otherwise.
Very quick and easy read, full of prompts on how to romanticise your life. I enjoyed it. If you want to romanticise your life a bit more, this book will hopefully help you with that.
I really thought this book of tips was cute! Definitely a gift for someone moving into a new house or the newly single. I didn't personally agree with all the tips, but like any book or list with tips, it’s nice to have these ideas and be able to choose from them if you want to change things up in your life.
It's very cute and would be a good casual gift. It's very easy to digest. I love the cover too. Wish there was more to it!
This would make such a nice gift for a friend or coworker! Broken up by date, each day offers a way to "romanticize your life." There are several themes each idea/day falls into: Beauty, Whimsy, Self-Care, Connect, Create, Home, Experience, Nature, Coziness, Identity and Dream, and each month is definitely seasonal (in June an idea is a pool day and in December there's an idea to decorate your house for the holidays). Each day starts with an inspiring quote related to the idea. A few that I have tried (randomly flipping to a page) includes: Cozy Up (heating a blanket in the dryer and then curling up in it) and Choose Your December Theme Song. This would make a cute coffee table book and is very fun to flip through.
It was cute. I liked the concept! Would be better as a calendar! I really wanted to continue reading it, but I am not a “stick to one book for 365 days” kind of person lol.
What a cute book! 365 tips to help escape the mundane and spark joy in your life.
Easy to do little tips to add a touch of specialness to each day.
Ways to reflect on your life and get out of a rut.
Nice gift or for self.
What a fun book! There are so many great ideas and fun ways to romanticize you everyday life. My only qualm was that some activities required you to spend money. I think having a cheaper or free option would be good as well so people don't feel like they have to purchase something to romanticize their life.
I had high hopes for this book and it was incredibly disappointing. It is basically like one of those daily calendars you tear a page off every day, there is nothing substantial or original about it. It is very consumerist. Half of the tips were so basic and lukewarm, and the other half were actively harmful. Do not put essential oils in the dryer. Do not support the police. Do not "find your spirit animal." It wouldn't surprise me if this book was written a decade ago.
I picked up "Romanticize Your Life", based on the excellent cover and the promise embedded in the title.
Having read and liked "The Alter Ego Effect", I'm familiar with the notion of using an 'alter ego' and I thought this book will delve into a similar narrative,
However, right from the start and only ffew pages in, I found that the content failed to resonate with the promise of its title. There's a clear lack of data-driven arguments. Even anecdotal accounts, which are prevalent in many productivity-centric books, are absent. Instead, the one-page-per-day format seemed repetitive, simplistic and with prose that brought to mind some of the shallow articles in women's magazines.
To conclude, while the idea behind "Romanticize Your Life" and its cover are both intriguing, the execution unfortunately doesn't live up to the promise.
I liked the little tips that are shared every day. They can be very useful when applied to your life. At the end of it it’s about the little details to appreciate life. To create a life you enjoy and that reflects who you are. What do you want your life to look like? And make it happen. Aim for what makes you happy, Look for the opportunities and deep dive into it.
I loved the cover and how feminine the whole layout and color palette of the book are. Since the daily tips are very concise and short it is more likely that people will go back everyday to see what comes next. I do believe that by applying these tips you can change your life in a year.
I really enjoyed the way this book helps to take the day to day slog that is life and make it seem a little more rose colored. Some of this book seemed a struggle but so much of it was charming and helpful and I really loved the illustrations.
Cute concept, but absolutely wrong format. This is better suited as one of those daily calendars. As a book, it falls flat. It's not a book you can read multiple chapters of but it's also not a good reference book.
