This was a little too cheesy for me. Some things seemed like nice advice, but others were just... not vibing with me haha. I'm sure other people would probably like it, but it's not for me
Romanticize Your Life : 365 Simple Ways to Embrace the Beauty of Every Day. This is a book for dipping into everyday of the year and reading the daily suggestions. Not everything will resonate with you so it is a lucky dip as to what appeals and what doesn't. I am not sure I would call it romanticising, it is more like self care and a few chores. I wasn't blown away with the suggestions but there were a few good snippets in there.
This was such a fun book. I loved the beautiful illustrations and recipes! I would definitely buy myself a copy and gift this book to others. Thanks NetGallery!
I enjoyed some of the suggestions in this book, but ultimately it seemed a little bit self-defeating in the format. Tying oneself to a book for 365 days to be told each day how to romanticize one's life doesn't feel that authentic – and a lot of the suggestions, especially the financial ones, seem far removed from the idea of romance. Perhaps the book would have made more sense if it was titled something to do with self-care rather than romance.
I think the concept would also have been better served without the day-by-day breakdown. Instead, chapters on general concepts like connecting, relaxing, exploring, and mindfulness could have laid down principles that a person might choose to take with them and apply in their own unique way. But really, this treatment of the subject ends up feeling more like just a to-do list... not very inspiring, and not even very usable.
Thank you to Harper Celebrate for the advanced reader copy of this cute book!
This book is out now and is a cute daily book on simple things to add joy to your life. For example - one day in January was to put your blanket in the dryer before bed. It’s a simple task but one that would be perfect for a cold January night. While I read this book faster than the 365 days- I will be buying the book to start in January. This book would also be good if you write a journal and use prompts for your journal writing!
As someone who finds it hard to slow down, I needed this book. And I will definitely be being a physical copy for myself. I think a lot of people will benefit from this book and I will definitely recommend it to my patrons!
Romataticizing your life is a trend I can always get behind! I love the idea of taking the time daily to romantasize the little moments. In our social media culture it can be easy to comapre your life to others and lose out on what is truly beautiful in your own life.
Romanticize Your Life by Harper Celebrate aims to aid you in romantacizing something daily and doing various tasks to accomplish this. As a reviewer I couldn't simply just do every single task in the book over the next year to give it a full and more accurate reivew. So, I want to make sure that its clear that I am basing my review more so on the content and what it may lead your year to look like.
I wanted to love this more then I did. Again, I did not complete it in the way that was intended but I did take a good look at the contents inside and found them to be a bit off touch to what I expected going into the book. I thought, based off the synospis, that these would be ways to romanticize moments of your life and not tasks that require you to spend money or go out and do something specific.
The main problem with this is that you can' t just drop everything to follow a prompt or plan around it because you theratically don't know what your're getting into until that day. This might not be a problem for some people especially if they take a glance ahead and see what is going on. It would be as easy as altering a thing here or there or switching up the scheduled.
I did like that there were different categories for the day and then you would have a better idea of what was going on. I don't think this is something that I would go out of my way to recommend to somebody or necessarily gift without it being the right person.
I absolutely loved this book! I didn't realize when I requested it (though it does clearly state in the description lol) that this is a "read every day" type of book. Each day has something different. Sometimes a quote, advice, recipe, motivation, learn a word, etc. I have a friend in mind that I know would be obsessed with this and I would love to gift this to her.
Some nice and easy to follow ideas for improving your life. Liked it, well explained, entertaining.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine
This book just wasn't a hit for me. The suggestions were nice, but the cover made me think it would be a little more of a bougie guide to self care as opposed to the more simple steps featured in the book.
The author starts the guide with the wise words that the world often places value on speed and efficiency over experience. But often what we really need is to slow down and savour the unique magic that is found in every day things. There is magic to be found if we just take a moment to look for it. Little treasure that we can store up and enjoy.
This guide is divided in to themes, 'beauty, whimsy, self care, connect, create, home, experience, nature, coziness, identity, dream. Each day give you the opportunity to try something that fits into one or more of these themes. A great opportunity to slow down, even if it is just for a short time to help add a little sparkle to your day. Take what you need for each day or just pick a date at random. Have fun and find the magic that is there patiently waiting for you to notice.
This was a very unique 365 day book, with daily suggestions for activities, reflections and prompts. I liked that these were mostly solo options and the range of categories or intentions for romanticizing your life. I could've done without the cultural appropriation and I think the book overall could've had less ideas that were basically just shopping. But there's quite a few original and interesting ideas in here to make a good gift to buy someone, with some further editing.
I don’t normally go for self help books but the cover on this book had me intrigued and I’m glad I decided to try it. This book is adorable. It gives you 1 thing to do everyday of the year to help you start living your best life and appreciating everything around you. I can’t wait for this book to come out so I can get my own physical copy to use and to share with my friends. I highly recommend this book, even if you are like me and are a bit standoffish about self help.
Okay I finished it
This was an ARC but the book is available now, it is like a guide to find your inner truth and find the beauty in life. If you’re a hot girl doing hot girl stuff this book is for you. I read it fast so I could know which activities I would like to do or which ones are comfortable for life surroundings, but I think I'm going to do these exercises in the mornings. But in general I love it.
Romanticize Your Life is a lovely trove of daily inspiration filled with thoughts to reflect on, ideas to spark joy, and as the title suggest romanticize your life. The daily format to carry from January to December is the perfect delivery system for a years worth of elevating the day to day to realistic and meaningful ways.
This book was not quite what I expected, but I was pleasantly surprised. It reminds me of a daily devotional in that it provides the reader with daily dated prompts. It is a quick daily read that gives the reader a little dose of motivation and an idea to implement that day. I really like this concept because we often fall into habits or patterns in our daily lives and this book provides inspiration to get out of those routines we so often fall into. Thank you NetGalley and Harper Celebrate for providing me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Practical and no nonsense prompts for a better purposeful approach for us, ourselves and Is. Yes to this!
Just keep this book with you. You never know how such a book can save you any day. I have gone through so many phases where a book like this saved me out of nowhere when no one else could.
Advice from another human being is okay but we as human beings tend to listen more to ourselves when we reflect on ourselves more than we listen to others even when we know they really care for us.
Yes, books like this matter. A lot.
Thank you, Harper Celebrate, for the advance reading copy.
♥️The book is available now! Grab one for yourself and another for another woman/girl you care about.
This book has beautiful illustrations and fun prompts to bring joy every day of the year.
My favorite is drawing your own map of your hometown.
It says a lot that I put 'Romanticize Your Life" (from Harper Celebrate; text by Jordan Ackerman and illustrated by on order as soon as it was released. Early access was provided by NetGalley (much thanks!). I enjoy these types of books that have something for each day to ponder on.
Does every day in this book 'hit' for me? No, but a lot of them do, especially if given time over the year to think on, engage in (if applicable) and then go back again. It works for me because there is a bit of whimsy, a bit of humor and references topics that I can relate to.
I look forward to receiving my hard copy soon!
Thanks to Harper Celebrate and Net Galley for this ARC! I was really excited when I saw this book as a Net Galley offering. I am in desperate need of injecting some romance and whimsy into my life. The format of the is set up with daily prompts, questions, and ideas. It reminds me more of those daily wisdom calendars than an actual handbook. Best consumed day by day to really take in and apply the advice, especially if you’re like me and journal daily. The advice given has a good variety, although some were more like journal prompts. Nothing wrong with that, but I was expecting more of a functional guide. I ended up purchasing a physical copy so I can use it in tandem with my daily journal. Would definitely recommend to those who have or would like to implement those types of daily rituals.
