This story had potential- but to be honest the narrator was very hard to understand and I couldn’t finish it.
Thank you for the arc! i will not be reviewing on goodreads for this reason!

4 1/2 stars. I’m more familiar with the television show than the books. I’ve only a few of the books. I really enjoy these characters though. I love the diversity of ages. I like that Agatha isn’t an old matronly type. She’s relevant and very clever.
I listened to the audio version. It was very well done. The narrator is easy to understand. Sometimes with accents it can be difficult.

A lovely British mystery set in the Cotswolds with numerous colorful characters at a fête in the English countryside. A dog runs away, and in looking for him, Agatha Raisin, local private investigator, discovers a body. Ensuing investigations begin, with Agatha at the center of the action and suspicions. It’s a fast paced and fun who dun it with twists, turns, and a surprise ending. The audiobook was well read and entertaining for my drive.

Dead on Target is the 34th in M.C. Beaton's Agatha Raisin mystery series. Now written by R.W. Green who took over when Beaton died, the novel benefits from Penelope Keith's narration, which captures every bit of Agatha's feistiness and Beaton's storytelling panache. She has narrated these novels from the start and is a great bridge between Beaton and her successor. A great narrator makes a good book even better, so while a enjoyed Dead on Target with my eyes, reading it with my ears was even more fun.

In this installment, the redoubtable Agatha attends a country fete where a dead body turns up-- found, of course, by Agatha.. Her nemesis, the inept DCI Wilkes, wants to pin the murder on her, but Agatha investigates with predictable success and a little romance thrown in. This works just fine as a standalone, but if you get hooked on Agatha (and Keith's narration), you'll want to listen to others in the series

Everyone's favorite PI, Agatha Raisin, is back again with another murder mystery in the Cotswolds. When Agatha visits a village fete, she finds the body of a local man, pants down, with an arrow in his chest. The police quickly rule his death an accident, but Agatha's keen sleuthing instincts say otherwise and she jumps on the case.

First and foremost, I must comment on the audiobook. There is nothing like an Agatha Raisin Mystery narrated by the superb, Dame Penelope Keith. Her narration is so spot-on for the characters. She captures every one so perfectly and her voice is such a treat! I was absolutely delighted to see her name down as narrator. I love the mysteries, but they are just so much better when Penelope reads them!

I was so delighted to once again be transported to the idyllic English Cotswolds for a fun romp with Agatha Raisin. Dead on Target brings back many of the recurring characters in Agatha's life like Margaret Bloxby, Sir Charles Fraith, Roy Silver and, surprisingly, even her ex, James Lacey. I love seeing the full cast of characters back with her again because, without spoiling anything, I enjoy the way things play out with James.

As a long-time Agatha reader, I'm always in it for the relationships and the drama of Agatha's personal life, but the mysteries never disappoint. This one really kept me guessing. There were so many players involved and I was relieved to find that some of the side characters I'd grown attached to were innocent in the end. I find it difficult to review mysteries in ways that don't give away spoilers, so I will just say that if you like a mystery that keeps you guessing and has a good resolution, you're in for a treat!

This is the 34th Agatha Raisin mystery and I’m still enjoying the character and her life in the Cotswolds. Beaton, the original author, is deceased but approved R. W. Green to continue the series. While attending a local village fete Raisin comes across the dying landowner with an arrow in his chest. Inspector Wilkes wants to declare it a mishap from the archery demonstration but Agatha is convinced it is murder. She discovers more than one person has a motive.

These are shortish (256 pages) cozy mysteries. Agatha has changed over the years and now runs her own successful detective agency. She is still vain but not the fist out of water she was once. Half the fun of these stories. is keeping up with her ex-husband Jame who lives next door and the police officers that are appreciative of her help, as well as her friends and employees. There is a side case about counterfeit merchandise being sold. I’d say the story is 3.5 stars but I’m rounding up because I got the audio book with narration by Penelope Keith. Keith is wonderful bringing Agatha to life as well as the other characters.

Thank you to NetGalley and Blackstone Publishing for the audio book and I am leaving a voluntary review.

Thank you to NetGalley and blackstone for the ARC. All opinions are solely my own.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ of 5.

Join Agatha and her entourage in the latest Agatha raisin mystery. I just cannot relate how much I enjoy this series and always look forward to a new installment. It’s like a visit with good friends or family.

Agatha stumbles across a dying man who’s been shot with an arrow at a village fete. Of course inspector Wilkes aims to narrow in on Agatha as prime suspect. Agatha becomes embroiled in finding out who dunnit; a duplicitous family member of a feuding family, an organized crime boss or disgruntled former employees?

A full cast joins in the hunt actively or as innocent bystanders. I loved being reunited with familiar characters. Agatha doesn’t seem quite as tetchy in this installment. On the contrary, she exposes her soft center.

Agatha Raisin is back and she’s bringing the same hilarious antics and love life drama we know and love.

This installment from the new author author who toon over the series is the first that I feel brings Agatha back to life for me.

A fun, quick read with all of the humor one expects from Agatha and crew. This one kept me riveted and guessing until the very end.

Loved the narrator of the audiobook too.

Thanks to #NetGalley and #BlackstonePublishing for an ARC in exchange for an honest review

Strangely enough, I ended up with two archery-based cozy mysteries this month, scheduled for release within weeks of one another. This is by far the better of the two.

This is my first time reading Beaton and the Agatha Raisin series, and I was pleasantly surprised. I’m generally not fond of cozies with a modern setting, but this one was terrific both in terms of atmosphere and evocative detail and charming characters.

The mystery itself and the structure was surprisingly good for the genre, and there’s some charming subtle humor.
