I enjoyed the narrator of this story. The narrator kept me interested in the story. Overall, I did enjoy the story, but I did not fall in love with the main character as you are supposed to.

I really could not get into this book! I’m so sorry thank you! This book was not for me, i don’t think I was the target audience but others will definitely enjoy it!

This was an easy-going and smooth romance novel to spend your weekend with. The characters on the island of Asteria are absolutely delightful with colorful personalities! James and Amelia are imperfectly perfect for each other.

Sadly this book wasn't for me. While it was a sweet story, I just never really warmed to Amelia.

I enjoy YA books, but this one reads very young.

“The Second Chance Hotel” by Sierra Godfrey is a heartwarming and delightful read that whisks readers away to the sun-drenched Greek islands. Amelia Lang’s life takes an unexpected turn when she accidentally marries a stranger and inherits a charming but neglected hotel. Amid quirky island residents and unexpected sparks of attraction, Amelia must decide whether this twist of fate is her second chance at a new life.

Have you ever dreamed of moving to a small Greek island and opening a charming hotel? Spending mornings serving coffee to guests on the balcony overlooking the bright blue sea? Spending afternoons greeting guests from all over the world and giving advice on all the island has to offer? And spending evenings enjoying fresh bread dipped in olive oil with a glass of deep red wine? (Or is that only me?)

Amelia didn't exactly have that dream, but somehow--after a night of drinking--she ended up owning such a hotel (oh, and married to someone she just met, too).

That's the premise of The Second Chance Hotel by Sierra Godfrey--after losing her boyfriend, her job, and her best friend, Amelia sets off to Europe for a few months to figure out what to do next.

She spends her last few days at the hotel on a Greek island where her parents had many fond memories.

Unfortunately, the hotel is falling apart, the elderly owner doesn't seem to care much anymore, and the only other guest is another American that Amelia is certainly attracted to, but she can't quite figure him out.

Book: The Second Chance Hotel

Review: The Second Chance Hotel has a fun, somewhat predictable story line and some authentic descriptions of Greek island life, but it would have benefitted from more editing. Amelia has had a rough few months and after an explosive firing at her job, she heads off to explore Europe. She's near the end of her journey when she finds herself at a hotel on a Greek island where the views are beautiful and (unfortunately) the alcohol is strong. After one night of drinking she finds herself married to James and shortly after that, she and her now husband own the hotel they're staying in and have to figure out what to do with it. I wish the characters had been a little more developed as I just didn't care too much about them. I do think the audiobook narration may have affected that--the narrator and the book certainly aren't bad, but something was missing.

This was a cute love story. The pace was a little slower than I like and the situation wasn't very realistic but the author made it enjoyable. It was fun and light. I would definitely read from this author again.

Loved the idea of this story of breaking free from life’s normal expectations to get to know yourself while also exploring the guilt that can overcome you. Makes me want to explore more by Godfrey!

3.5 stars! Overall this was a heartwarming story that centers around Amelia who is living with her Mom, and feeling down on her luck. She decides to take a trip to a Greek island to get away, in hopes that her life will get better. After a day of drinking at a wedding, she finds herself married to a fellow wedding guest, who inherits a hotel.

WHAT TO EXPECT
-forced proximity
-self discovery
-laugh out loud romcom

The audiobook narration was so cute, and I loved pairing the book with this format!

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I stumbled upon "The Second Chance Hotel" by Sierra Godfrey and opted for the audiobook experience. What a delightful escape it turned out to be! From the very beginning, the story grabbed my attention with its witty narrative and the chaotic life of Amelia Lang.

Amelia's journey, from the chaos of San Francisco to the unexpected marriage and the inheritance of a Greek hotel, provided the perfect backdrop for a thoroughly entertaining romantic comedy. The humour in the story, filled with both laugh-out-loud moments and awkward charm, quickly became a highlight of my day, making it an excellent companion during moments of relaxation.

The chemistry between Amelia and James, despite their accidental marriage, is beautifully portrayed, and their evolving relationship adds a heartwarming touch to the narrative. The quirky characters populating the Greek island enhance the overall charm of the story, creating a vivid and enjoyable setting for the unfolding events.

Sierra Godfrey's writing style is engaging and well-paced, effortlessly blending humour, romance, and a hint of self-discovery. "The Second Chance Hotel" is more than just a romantic comedy; it's a feel-good escape that offers a charming and uplifting experience.

In conclusion, whether you're a fan of romantic comedies or simply looking for a delightful story to brighten your day, "The Second Chance Hotel" comes highly recommended for its blend of humour, romance, and unpredictable twists.

I’m not 100% how I feel about this book.

It’s not bad and it’s plotted well—but I find the main character, Amelia to be the most unlikeable self-centered character ever (which if that is the intention well done).

The audio is decent—I really like the narrators voice but it didn’t help the connection to the characters. The voice was too mature to capture Amelia’s immaturity and self centeredness and made James sound super young and immature.

This is not a bad book by any means—I just had a hard time connecting to the characters.

This was a ⭐️⭐️⭐️ read for me. However, the narrator was great and really did a great job of the accents.
I will admit that I never really warmed up to Amelia. I think that was mostly due making the choice to bail on her best friends wedding. I didn’t really feel the “if not now then never” I think that was needed to forgive that choice. I wish the author also had spent more time on her trip before Greece or just taken the character straight there.
I did fall in love with the town and its cast of characters and I absolutely would take a trip to their hotel!

While I liked this story I found my mind wandering half-way through. There just wasn't enough to keep me engaged through it all. While I liked Amelia's journey to find something better for herself than the daily grind that didn't suit her, and the life she clearly didn't want in San Francisco, it just took too long to find her joy in Greece. There was very little chemistry coming through and that didn't help.

I enjoyed the narrator of this audiobook. She made the funny moments come to life.

This book was such a joy. The perfect Summer vacation read on a beach contemporary. I loved that while there are a lot of romantic elements the book is a great mix of plot and character-driven. I highly recommend The Second Chance Hotel to fans of Mamma Mia and the Love and Gelato series.

I don't know why, but I couldn't get into this at all. I couldn't tell if it was the narration or the book so I'm hesitant to Goodreads review.

I won't lie. I picked The Second Chance Hotel based on my love of Greece and the bright cover. I was hoping for atmospheric Mediterranean romantic vibes. Unfortunately, I was left a little wanting.

The Second Chance Hotel is cute, humorous, and a bit over-the-top. It is A contemporary, slow-burn romance where the main characters find themselves and each other through leaps of faith and new beginnings.

You will have to suspend belief to buy into the plot, but it wasn't an issue for me. The atmosphere was perfect. I felt like I was on a cozy island filled with quirky characters. The side characters made this book for me. My biggest issue is I never connected with the main characters. Amelia, the female main character, was a bit unlikeable. It made it hard for me to care about the romance or root for them as a couple.

Fans of accidental marriages, over-the-top humor, island vibes, and slow burns will enjoy this. The Second Chance Hotel is the perfect beach read or an easy read if the winter blues have you down.

I did this via audiobook, and the narration was good.
