As a huge fan of the "Cunk on Earth" show on Netflix, this book gave me the giggles in exactly the same way. The encyclopedia entries feel like a collection of Philomena Cunk's personal ponderings with the same meandering, harebrained, tangential ramblings that Cunk fans already know and love. This would make a great gift for a fan familiar with the character's style, and a great coffee table book to pick up and peruse for a quick laugh. Although it's obviously not meant to be listened to from end to end, the audiobook was delightful to skip around to hear the excerpts and jokes delivered in Cunk's standard dry, slightly confused tone.
Gosh I love Philomena Cunk.
She talks about everything, as promised, and with that dead pan humor that she does so well.
I enjoyed listening to this book on audio because I could clean my house and also laugh hysterically at this book.
Cunk on Everything was just as enjoyable as her tv show on Netflix. I really enjoyed her voice and pacing. So funny!
Fans of Cunk on Earth might be a little disappointed because the humor works so much better with academics reacting to her, but nevertheless the book is funny.
Every society in history has had it's great thinkers and philosophers. Those who aren't afraid to ask the big questions and have the big answers. Step forward Philomena Cunk, a philosopher for the 21st Century if not for all time. I bought this in book form, made of paper.
Very much the Internet of it's day.
My husband and I loved Cunk on Earth, the hilarious Netflix series she did about human history. So I knew I had to listen to this audiobook, and it did not disappoint.
The encyclopedia style of describing everything is fun and she alternates between making good points and ridiculous ones. It was easy to jump in and out of, and had me literally laughing out loud. It was a fun change from the books I normally read. It definitely recommend picking this one up in audio!
When I saw this was in audiobook form I had to have it. I loved the book book and found it hilarious but it is ten times funnier in audiobook form. It is so dumb and I just need that sometimes.
Listen to this for sure.
A fun read, full of amazing one-liners and mindblowing twists on everything on Earth. Made me laugh out loud (no sarcasm)!
Comedian Diane Morgan's brilliant "historical" mockumentary from "Cunk on Earth" continues with "Cunk on Everything," an encyclopedia of all things, or at least many things, A to Z. While not a story with plot, this hilarious take on very random things is great listen when you need a good laugh. Morgan's character of Cunk informs the reader, in all seriousness, about the world, the way things are as she sees them, and offers questions the reader would probably never consider. The ridiculousness knows no bounds, and I'm here for it.
If you enjoyed the Netflix (or before that BBC) "Cunk on Earth," this book is for you. But if I were you, I would listen to the audiobook, read by the character of Philomena Cunk.
Ever since discovering Cunk on Earth on Netflix, I’ve wanted more Philomena Cunk in my life! This book was just as hilarious as the show and I loved listening to it.
I loved Cunk on earth, so I was very excited to see a book coming out soon. If you have seen her shows, there is a lot of repeat jokes, so that was kind of a disappointment to me. If you haven't seen her show, then this is laugh out loud funny, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. If you HAVE seen her shows, there is still some new material, but be prepared for quite a few repeat jokes (almost verbatim).
THAT WAS FANTASTIC!
Philomena Cunk is a comedic master, and I am HOOKED. Cunk on Everything is quite literally Miss Philomena walking the reader/listener through random words alphabetically with a kicker, it's not all real, but definitely somewhat fictional, AND WE LOVE LEARNING NEW THINGS ON A DAILY BASIS. WERK!
Cunk on Everything is set to hit shelves on September 26, 2023 and yall need to get your preorders in TODAY!
