As a big Swiftie I was really excited to read this book from the description and the title. I loved the playlist and felt that each chapters song choice was fitting.
The pacing of the book is done really well with drama from the first page keeping you hooked and unable to put it down. I also enjoyed that it’s discussing how stars, especially female stars, are praised by the media and fans until someone accuses them of doing something wrong (even when they didn’t and it was the man’s fault) and then their hated and everyone distances themselves from them. The building relationship therefore reminds me of Taylor and Joe at the start of their relationship during the Reputation era.
I liked the dual timeline as we explore the beginning of her fame and how that changed everything and then the aftermath of the cheating allegation and how again that is changing her life and how everyone sees her.
Over all great plot, pacing and characters with brilliant Taylor Swift references throughout.
I would give 4.5 stars if possible.

Beforehand, thank you for sending me the ARC of this lovely book!

A book inspired by Taylor Swift’s song of the same title is definitely an enjoyable read for Swifties, including me! I especially love it when a book (especially romance) includes song playlists that I can listen to while reading ❤️‍

The story itself is told in a dual timeline & short chapters, which go back to back from Aspen’s present as a Hollywood star & her high school memories with Roman. While some might enjoy this format, I personally did not enjoy it as I find it more difficult to connect with the whole conflict & the character development.

Also, in terms of how the relationship builds between the main characters, I felt like I couldn’t relate to how easy it is for them to reconcile after not talking for years. It might be because of the character’s personality–I do think that it needs more details too. For a debut novel, I think this would be a great room for improvement in her next books.

Overall, personally, this book is a cute read of a holiday romance. It somehow reminds me of Disney’s Camp Rock in some way. Reminder for all the readers, after reading this book you will be wondering when you could get a Roman Torres in your life ❤️‍

If you enjoy a small-town romance, second chance, friends-to-lovers plus a sunshine male lead who falls first, then this book is IT for you!

Thank you so much to NetGalley for this arc!

First off I really liked all the Taylor Swift references in this book! There were quite a few. The playlist for the book was also really fitting.

I liked having a Hollywood star as a main character. It was interesting to read about her road to fame, with the flashbacks and how she adjusted to Hollywood life, in the the present.

Although I loved all the references I unfortunately wasn’t the biggest fan of the characters or the storyline. There was a whole lot of getting back together and then breaking up again between the two main characters that I personally didn’t like. It also just felt as if the male mc (Rome) just literally existed in this book to be Aspen’s boyfriend, he didn’t have much of a personality.

This book had such an interesting concept, but unfortunately for me it fell a little flat. I can see why other people would like this book but it just wasn’t for me.

Although it wasn’t for me I would still recommend this book for swifties since it had some great Taylor Swift references!

Such a cute book! I loved Roman and Aspen. The fact that Aspen and Sierra didn't really talk at all and she was her best friend was frustrating as a reader. I loved the friendship she developed with Leila and the mentorship she provided to Ella. I felt like the title implied more of a holiday theme than just the play though. Would recommend.

There were a few times I laughed throughout the book. I really enjoyed it. If you haven't you definitely need to.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC. First and foremost, there were definitely some things that needed trigger warnings that were not in this book and that you wouldn’t really think about until it was fully done. Overall, it went on for so long. The plot was all over the place and the characters were not developed well enough beyond pining over each other for years while one was famous and one wasn’t. Overall, it fell flat for me.

The book is cute for teenagers and kids. A cute second chance romance with a celebrity and Taylor Swift references. I will say the characters do come off a bit too stereotypical and I felt as though every moment became predictable after a certain point. If you want something super easy to read that is very fast paced, this may be the book for you.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for a chance to read this book! I loved it. It was such a cozy sweet read. I loved the subtle Taylor Swift references that weren't too in your face like other books. I loved Aspen. I loved Rome. This was so cute and fun and a really good book to get you into the holiday season.

A book titled after one of Taylor Swift's best songs? Sign me up!

This book was so cute, and easy to read. The characters were extremely likable, and I liked the dual timelines. I only wish that some of the chapters were longer, and we could've gotten some chapters from Roman's POV. The Taylor Swift references throughout the book were an added bonus! Overall, a very cute, fun, holiday read!

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC!!

Really enjoyed this story. The main characters have such a strong bond and work really well together, but have two very different lives. Would recommend

I didn't really get into the book in the beginning; it didn't really pique my interest and I was actually close to dnfing. I think what saved it was the second half of the book, where it got progressively cuter and Aspen had a character development (she was kind of annoying in the beginning but I loved her character growth).

There are Taylor Swift references here and there which make the book hit different (cringe but I had to) because you can never go wrong with Taylor Swift. The songs at the start of each chapter were also very engaging though I didn't listen to any, but I must admit I was kind of scared when I saw Would've Could've Should've at the start of one of the chapters.

Overall, it was an enjoyable book and I hope to see more from the author.

Cute story. Geared toward teen audiences. Clever use of TS song titles to see the tone of the chapter. Initial flow of story hard to follow, but comes together at the end. I did recommend to my teen daughter.

Aspen is caught up in some Hollywood drama involving her best friend/roommate and her boyfriend. She moves back to her parents for some time to lay low and ends up reconnecting with her high school love, Roman. They work the children at the church to put on a Christmas show. They are spending lots of time together and are easily falling back into the way things were but Aspen knows that she is going back to LA once everything calms down so what is the point of getting back with Roman.

This was definitely a cute, light hearted second chance romance! It was not super Christmas based, but I really enjoyed the dual POV as well as the Hollywood connection and drama. I loved the playlist that went with the book and the songs for each chapter. It was immature at times but I read that the author is 16 which would make sense!

Tis The Damn Season is a (mostly) light hearted, holiday second chance romance. I had a fun time reading it and enjoyed reading from the perspective of a celebrity dealing with the media. I found the main characters likeable and their communication refreshing. I liked that it was told in dual timeline. I will say for me the past POV felt more believable, and the present dialogue and conflict sometimes felt juvenile. Finishing the book and finding out the author is only 16 I can understand why.

I think this is a strong first novel for this young author, and I look forward to reading more from her and seeing her grow as a writer! ☺️

A fun second chance romance, especially for Swifties!

The book switches between the present and the past. In the past, Aspen en Roman are high school sweethearts. In the present, they keep finding each other, but neither wants to commit.

I really enjoyed the book. The playlist was amazing! I wish more books had this. The Christmas play was cute. And I enjoyed the celebrity aspect, too.

I love a book based off a Taylor Swift song, but even as a hardcore Swiftie this felt like overkill. I love a good playlist at the beginning of a book, but having a song associated with each chapter was too much (especially when the songs didn’t even make sense a lot of the times with the chapters). The characters felt very surface-level, and I didn’t like the alternating timelines. I’m a fan of short chapters, but the chapters in this book felt way too short. The writing also read more immature, which makes sense after learning the author is 16. I think this book could be really good with some editing and skewing it more towards a younger audience.

This book could also use a TW for sexual assault. It really surprised me when it came up.

Thank you net galley and publisher for a copy of this book. I absolutely enjoyed this book! Taylor swift 🤝🏼 tis the damn season. I loved how each chapter correlated with a song (mainly Taylor’s) the chapters were short and flipped between past and present. This is a second chance romance book following Roman and Aspen, they have always loved each other but their timing was never right.

Cute, wintery romance! The dual timelines were great in showing Aspen and Roman's relationship and how it started and how it was rekindling. Tis the Damn Season is one of my favorite Taylor Swift songs and this book captured the vibes of the song so well.

When you write a book with a Taylor swift song title you’ll instantly have my liking.
This book was great, a fast book easy read that both interesting and fun with still some sadness within.
I loved the relationship between Aspen and Roman and the cute little relationship that started from high school.
I also loved the short chapters as it gripped me to the book and made me want to find out what the next song would be in the next chapter!
I did however find the present to past chapters a bit confusing but still loved the concept.

This book had no business being as cute as it was! If you’ve ever listened to ‘Tis the damn season by Taylor Swift and thought, ‘I wish there was a book about this couple’ (I mean, who hasn’t?), then you’re in luck because this book was written for you.

This book has:
•Small town/ second chance romance between two former high school sweethearts
•Famous girl x small-town boy: He’s always supported her dreams, and when she makes it big, she just can’t let him go
•She’s a famous singer, and he’s her muse 💕
•Forced proximity: The leads are co-producing the town Christmas play together 🎄

Overall, this was such a sweet read with low angst. If you’re looking for a small-town second-chance romance this holiday season, look no further!
