Loved this book! We got to see the struggle behind all the fame.
The chemistry between them was amazing 🤩 hated her so called bestfriend 😐
A great read 👍 definitely recommend 💗
There are a lot of things I loved about this book:
-the short chapters: I feel like I can read so much faster in books that have short chapters
-the switches to the past: instead of dumping all the past info at once, the chapters in the past made sure I remembered everything
-all the Taylor Swift references: I'm such a big Swiftie that it was find them all
-how Aspen and Roman are made for each other: from the beginning I just knew that nothing could go wrong and that was a nice change from all the books with the "will they, won't they"

Caught up in a juicy Hollywood scandal, a glitzy star finds herself in a whirlwind with an old flame she just couldn't shake. With the holiday season as the enchanting backdrop, their stories are rewritten forever...
I was totally hooked following Aspen and Roman's journey. The allure of first love is something that sticks with you, no doubt about it.
Aspen Moore proves that having money isn't a one-way ticket to happiness. At just twenty-three, the singer-actress seems to have it all: fame, fortune, even a major tour. But deep down, there's a void – or rather, a someone-shaped hole.
When a scandal rocks her meticulously built Hollywood life, Aspen's forced to do a 180 and head back to her hometown in Pennsylvania. There, she crosses paths with Roman Torres, her first love. Aspen's fully aware that they've got to keep things strictly platonic. This whole push-and-pull dance with Roman isn't doing her any favors. She's not planning to stay in Fertsville, and he's definitely not leaving LA. Yet, the chemistry between them crackles and pops. Amidst the whirlwind of rumors and drama, the dazzling neon lights of Hollywood start to dim in comparison to those deep brown eyes that captured her heart way back when. Could Aspen seriously trade everything she thought she wanted for what might just be the best thing she's ever had?
The tale unfolds across two timelines, inspired by the very Taylor Swift track that shares its name. 'Tis the Damn Season spins out into an enchanting modern romance.
With a jam-packed playlist featuring more than twenty Taylor Swift tunes, ( an absolute treat for Swifties.) The journey spans 50 meticulously penned chapters, with an epilogue that provides the perfect finish.
As for the author's writing style, it flows like a river, making every twist and turn easy to navigate. The chapters are concise yet potent, urging you to keep flipping. This is my first time reading anything by this author, and honestly, I quite enjoyed it.
Aspen is a young famous singer/actress, she gets caught in a scandal with her best friend and roommate. She consequently gets left without anywhere to live so she ends up back home to pick up the pieces of her life. When she gets home she reconnects with her high school sweetheart (Roman) who she still deeply cares for. This book goes back and forth in timelines from the present to when they were in high school, slowly unraveling their story throughout the book.
Overall this is one of my new favorite holiday comfort reads. It is an easy going, cute, sweet, and fast read. I also highly recommend this book for taylor swift fans! There is a playlist at the beginning of the book and a song is marked at the beginning of each corresponding chapter. There are quite a few Taylor Swift songs that match the theme of these chapters!! This was such a great touch!
As a big swiftie I was excited to read this debut novel based on a Taylor Swift song! Overall. I thought it was a super cute and fun book. The characters were adorable and I enjoyed the dual timeline showing the progression of their relationship. Perfect for a Taylor Swift fan or anyone looking for a quick cozy read.
I want to start out by saying that this is the author's debut and she's only sixteen! I'm incredibly impressed with her!
'Tis the Damn Season follows the story of Aspen Moore, a small-town girl turned Hollywood star. After a scandal threatens to destroy all she has built, she heads back to her small town, and to Roman. Her first love, Roman has always been there for her, even when their lives are worlds apart. What will happen in her time away from Hollywood? Are they destined to be?
What I liked: This is a sweet story of first love. One that you can never seem to leave behind. I think we all remember who that was for us. I like the dual timeline - jumping back and forth between past and present.
What I didn't like: There were times that the dialogue and the plot seemed rushed so the pacing felt off. But considering the author is so young, I can only see that growing and polishing through the years!
Thank you to NetGalley, Parson Press and Kimi Freeman for the ARC read. I wish you the best success!
Tis the Damn Season is an adorable romance about Aspen and Roman. Aspen is a Hollywood singer and actor whose life is shaken by scandal. She returns to her small hometown to escape for a while, and despite her best attempts, starts reconnecting with Roman, her high school love.
I read this book in one sitting. The romance is this book is adorable, the Taylor Swift references are amazing, and it's Christmas themed without feeling too seasonal. My only slight critique is that some of Aspen's dialogue was a bit awkward, but this is a feel good book with swoon-worthy romance and I loved every minute.
Thank you to NetGalley, Parson Press and author Kimi Freeman for providing me with this eARC
An absolutely adorable holiday romance!
This is the perfect book to curl up with on the couch, with a hot chocolate during Christmas season.
It’s cute, cozy and absolutely heartwarming.
Loved the playlist suggestion at the beginning, the dual timeline and all the Taylor Swift easter eggs throughout the book
The only thing that could’ve made it even better imo is if we would’ve gotten Roman’s POV as well.

ARC Review: Thanks to the author for this wonderful ARC to review. It was a super cute story that just screamed Taylor Swift holiday romance. I loved seeing all the cute references to Taylor swift songs and lyrics throughout, it basically became a treasure hunt! The cute holiday tropes were well done and I thought the present and past jumps done were well done. It makes me excited for the upcoming holiday season vibes!!
Singer/writer Aspen is struggling in LA with rumors and turmoil..she thinks going home for the holidays will ease the pain that is, at times, Hollywood. At home, she also has her first (and only) true love Roman. However, when the drama of Hollywood tries to wreck their friendship and whatever relationship they have..can they survive? Will Aspen get her happily ever after outside of her career?
This book is so feel good. I flew through it because I just felt so happy while reading it. The playlist that goes along with it was paired up with every chapter, and I love when authors do that. The songs were paired up perfectly to go with what was happening in every chapter.
I fell in love with every charger (except for Cane, Sierra, and Keith, iykyk). This story talks about the ups and downs of Hollywood, family, friendship, and first loves turned into something more.
Such a great and wholesome read!

Hollywood re meets hometown, Aspen, famous returns home after scandal and runs into her ex boyfriend. When she starts to help him with ‘something’ her shallowness comes to head and she starts to become more like her old self.
This book was super cute and cozy, the mmc was the cutest and made me smile so much.
ALL THE TAYLOR SWIFT REFERENCES WAS A PLEASANT SURPRISE.
If you’re looking for a new cute read to get you feeling all warm inside, read ‘Tis the damn season.
This quick and cute read serves as a good palate cleanser and throws in a bit of holiday spirit and Swiftie nods. I would say this is very much a hallmark movie in a book, which will be great for some and not so great for others. I enjoyed it but I'm not sure I would broadly recommend it. I would say anyone who love hallmark movies and quick, easy reads that do not go into much detail, this is a great read! If you're looking for a plot with depth and characters to get attached to, this might not be for you. Overall, I enjoyed it! 2.75 stars
VERY CUTE QUICK READ, i LOVE ANYTHING HOLIDAYS WITH ALITTLE BIT OF DRAMA !
very t swift meets halmark It was almost a 5 star for me :)
Thank you very much Netgalley and publisher for this free access. I am working my way through reading more romance books and I’m glad I had the honor to read and experience this wonderful book. I hope many more would find love for this one!
3.5 Stars!! This book is a great one if your a fan of Taylor Swift, as I am, and an even better choice if evermore figures in your top three albums of hers. Roman Torres is definitely who each one of us needs in our lives, he is compassionate, understanding, and supportive above all, someone Pen always knew she could rely on and find when times get difficult. Aspen is soft-hearted and a kind soul for someone who got sucked into this industry. Their interactions were so cute and the nickname they made for each other made my heart grow fonder for them. I may have disliked how fast things went when they were teenagers, being a teenager myself, but it was overall a great book. For the Swifties, try to get all the references, there are so many and theyre so fun to find!!! I’m so lucky to have gotten the Arc to read it in advance, and I want to thank the author for this cute break she offered me from the world

If I could describe this book in one sentence it would be: If better than the movies by Lynn Painter meet Taylor swift and they wrote a book together!!!!
yes it was almost 5 stars but I still deserves all the praise! I describe this as Taylor swift references and quotes and song lol meets better than the movies by Lynn Painter!!! This author is 16 and wrote a whole book that let’s be honest is better than most people books!!! I love that it has a playlist and a song for every chapter! I would totally recommend this book to anyone interested in it and if the Christmas theme scares you into reading it during that season. Don’t let it because I read this in august and I think it had very minimal Christmas references as it has a dual time line!
Returning home to Pennsylvania after facing a scandal that rocks her singing career, Aspen finds herself drawn back to her high school sweetheart yet again. She left him all those years ago wanting him to pursue his dreams just as she was going to do in LA. But each time they’re together, it becomes harder and harder to not follow their hearts. Now Aspen finds herself questioning if her dreams in LA are really worth putting her dreams aside in Pennsylvania.
I’m not a Swiftie, so the inspiration of this book meant very little to me, but I enjoyed it from a purely entertainment aspect. This has Hallmark Christmas movie written all over it, and I certainly didn’t mind.
I actually had several connections to references in this book - I’m from Allentown, went to Temple University, and my dad shares a similarity with Aspen’s dad that is revealed later in the book. So it was nice to find common threads that I could relate to.
I don’t tend to like books that flop back and forth between past and present, but in this case I think it worked well. There was a sort of flow between each chapter that tied into the previous chapter, and by the end it was as though both past and present collided.
I loved Rome’s unconditional love for Aspen. He always supported her in her decisions and never judged her for the rumors that were swirling. Unfortunately, I don’t feel that Aspen reciprocated in the same way. While I know she loved him, she often made decisions for Rome without even discussing with him - she thought she knew what was best. I think she showed a level of immaturity that made me question if she was ready for a relationship altogether.
Despite my frustrations with Aspen, I thought this book was sweet and filled with love. From the constant support of Aspen’s parents to Rome’s unconditional love, it was all very endearing and heartwarming.
3.5 stars.
A cute, feel-good, Christmassy romance novel written by a Swiftie for all fellow Swifties.
Aspen is a rising actess-turned-singer who moved from her hometown in Pennsylvania to LA seven years prior to follow her dreams. And followed them she has, so much so that she is now entangled in the midst of a scandal involving her model (former) best friend and her musician boyfriend. She moves back home to find her headspace throughout the chaos, but her hometown sweetheart is there, ready to make it all the more confusing...
The references to Taylor Swift's songs and lyrics are nice easter eggs that enrichen the experience, along with the playlist at the beginning of the book and the single track listed at the top of each character.
I really liked the setting: celebrities, galas, paparazzi, the life of the rich and famous... But it seemed to me that Aspen did not like that one bit, which made me question several times throughout the book why on earth she would leave her hometown for a life that she does not really like, since not even writing her own songs and headlining her own tour makes up for it.
The writing is nice, cosy, it flows moderately, I would just suggest to work on the "showing rather than telling".
This was a heartwarming second chance romance with all the holiday feels! A Hollywood sweetheart returns home after a media scandal and rekindles a flame with her high school sweetheart. A perfect holiday read for “Swifties” and romance lovers alike. Wonderful debut!
I got intrigued by the title and description of this book so I tried it out and I had fun so to say.
I do see why people could not prefer it but I personally still found it pretty okay!
Would recommend to anyone who loves a good romance.
