It's the night of Halloween. Spooks, spiders and skeletons abound, the full moon glows - so who's cheering, "Ho, ho, ho!"?

It seems like Santa has made a mistake and has shown up on the spookiest night of the year. He ends up in the parade and this year there is a new winner. Told with humor, this book was a hit with my grandkids. The illustrations match up with an action in the book and it shows kids how to handle mistakes with humor and I explained the old adage that you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar. The illustrations were simple but eye catching, as well as being a bit scary. The little one said her was scared, but I think it was more for effect, than really being scared. I read this with my grandchildren and can see why it is billed as middle grades. They definitely needed help with the vocabulary. This is NOT a Christmas story, it is a Hallowe'en story and it met with some success for the younger two, but the older one seemed to get the message better.

I loved the rhymes and the pictures in this (although definitely have flick through to check before reading to the younger kids because the clown was kinda creepy). The story itself was a little bit slow, all kind of happening at the end but it was a cute story and I loved the combining of Halloween and Christmas. I feel like you don't get a lot of Halloween books around so it would be nice to read to the kids on Halloween.

Santa's Slip Up by Raven Howell is a really funny Halloween story. Imagine Halloween night with all the spooky stuff, and then, surprise - Santa Claus joins the scene! It's a mix-up that'll make you laugh and keep you entertained. The ending is clever and surprising, especially at the Halloween parade. If you enjoy a good laugh and a mix of holidays, you'll love reading this book by Raven Howell.

I can't say I was a major fan of this book. I felt that the different components were very misaligned. Usually, rhyming books have a great bouncy rhythm, but this one didn't flow as well as I would expect. The picture book length and set-up coupled with the simplistic language would suggest it was for young primary school children, but some of the images are probably not suited. I understand that the book is about Halloween, and that ghosts and witches are expected, but I still expect a five year old to be able to sleep soundly after looking at a book, and I'm not all that sure this wouldn't be disturbing to some of the younger target audience. That said, some of the images are beautifully crafted although they do not appear to be the same style. I also disliked the pages where there just a few lines on a stark white page. It was dull and uninspiring. Abit like marmite, this book is one that you will love or hate. For me, this was a 2 out of 5 stars.

What a fun and creative way to make to make the best of a mistake.

This is a very cute and funny book. It gives a good lesson about making the most of life and the situation you find yourself in. I love how Santa handled his mistake. This book is written in prose. It's very short which makes it a good bedtime story. I believe it would be great for parents to read to their kids, for teaching kids to read, and just as a cute story with a life lesson. The artwork is very nice, too. Thank you @NetGalley and @IBPA for the DRC. I'm choosing to leave my honest review.

The rhymes were cute and I loved seeing all the monsters. The art was dark, but not scary, I think it will engage kids. I know mine would have really enjoyed it.

Princess Fuzzypants here: What happens when Santa gets his dates mixed up? That is the crux behind an adorable little book filled with rhyme and whimsy and some really terrific artwork.

It is a fun story where all the various creatures and costumes that are present at Halloween fail to win the contest. No one even guesses that the winning Santa outfit is the jolly old guy himself.

Silly and fun, this is a lovely addition to the bed time stories for the little ones. Five purrs and two paws up.

Santa Claus is coming to town! Only problem is it’s Halloween night and not Christmas, oh silly Santa, age must be getting to you. So what does he do, it’s a long trip back home you know. Why not join in on the Halloween fun. Who’s going to know it’s not a costume? No one will know, wink wink. This really cute rhyming poetry young children’s book is a fun read for young children(0-4) on both holidays. To top it all off it’s got beautiful fun Halloween illustration (that aren’t scary). Perfect for the Adult Horror lover to read to their young kids. Hopefully this was just a one time mistake, not Santa getting dementia because Christmas is going to be a shit show in the future. Thank you netgalley and pen it publications for the ebook arc copy I had a great laugh reading this one.

This book was so adorable, I loved everything about it, the illustrations were so well done, they suited the book perfectly, the story was amazing as well, even thought is very short I could really connect with the characters. I’m sure the kids are going to be just as enthralled with this amazing book as I was. I will definitely recommend! Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this early copy

Something a bit different. Spooky illustrations and simple, rhyming text to follow. I thought the ending was humourous. A Halloween tale with a splash of Christmas 🎃 🎅

Santa is the "ho-ho-ho!"-iest he has ever been, and nobody has ever looked more like the cheerful chappy, either. The only problem is – it's Hallowe'en. Nicely rhymed, and surprisingly low-key with it for a book about Christmas (my mistake, I meant Hallowe'en), this wasn't too bad at all. And I guess if you baulk at buying something that will only be taken from the shelf for a few nights over one festivity each year, at least you can make the argument for this being applicable for two such windows. It's not a classic, but four stars seem close enough.

Not my favourite Halloween book for kids, most likely due to the somewhat foreboding pictures, but still cute enough to read to children.

Cute children’s read aloud for Halloween. As a former elementary and early childhood teacher I would have gladly put this in my classroom library and read it to my students.

This book has a very creepy halloween feel to it!! The illustrations are very spooky looking especially the clown! I felt the story itself is a little random. Would maybe have made more sence to me if we had an extra bit regarding the santa. It is short but sweet.
