This was really cute. I love Bean and her giant eyes. I like how the various creatures we got to meet throughout the book had descriptions and that Bean interacted with them in various ways. She’s such a a cute mix of cat and dog behaviors and I’d love to have a Bean of my own.
This is very similar to Tea Dragon in coziness. It was not quite as memorable, but I would read more of Bean’s adorable adventures if more were released.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for granting me free access to the advanced digital copy of this book.
Very fun and engaging book with cute and color illustrations. The language is very fun and I think many kids and adults alike will enjoy this book!
A fun, weird little book. It's just a sort of meandering exploration in the life of this little dragon. No real plot. Just a fun little everyday adventure.
I am completely obsessed with this book. It is a delightful read full of fun illustrations and encounters to keep readers entertained. I would definitely buy this for my library and use it for a book club or other programming efforts.
There isn't a lot to say about this book because there isn't a lot of book. Cute illustrations but I wish there was more. Can't tell if this is meant to be a graphic novel or a picture book.
Bean is quite possibly the cutest little dragon that I could imagine. The graphics are absolutely precious, but the storyline is quite enjoyable as well. Following Bean the stretchy dragon and his keeper, a witch named Sally, you will find that even in a fantasy world, you and your kid can relate.
I enjoyed this story with all the characters within. The main character was Bean.
Bean is a stretchy dragon that live with a witch named Sally. Sally is a grumpy witch. One day Bean wakes up and goes on an adventure throughout out the swamp were they live. Bean meets different types of creatures a long the way.
This was a fun story to read. It had action and adventure throughout. It had a few giggles within. The illustrations were colorful and went along with the story.
I received a complimentary copy via Netgalley. This is my honest unbiased opinions.
I read this book with my 6 & 7 year olds and we all loved it! They loved Bean and thought the stretchy dragon was cute and hilarious, and I have to agree! I definitely recommend it as a fun family read!
This had Tea Dragon Society vibes and I loved it. Bean was adorable and very much a cat in dragon form. It was so much fun and I look forward to revisiting this book.
4 stars
First let me say, Bean is so cute! So ridiculously charming and cute. I love being introduced to him and his world. We met all the characters and had a window into Bean's world. My thoroughly enjoyed it and my son liked Bean so much he called his grandma and read the book to her as well. All in all, we are giving it 5 Stars for enjoyment factor alone and charm.
But... I really hope this is just book one of many. In many ways this read more like an intro than a full story. It gave us just a peak and we want more.
A cute and cozy magical comic about a day in the life of Bean the stretchy dragon who lives with Sally, the witch in the swamp and in the enchanted forest.
Bean is really cute and silly and I think both cat and dog parents can relate to her character. She has some adventures in the forest where she meets some magical creatures like jackalopes, furry trouts and such. I really liked that each of the creatures had a character page with some info about them and I was surprised and touched to find some info on how these creatures are exploited by humans.
The graphic style is really cute and silly, has very few panels on a page, often just one, which makes it an easy and quick read for younger children as well. I really liked when the image and Bean's stretchy body as well were overarching the pages. Also there are quite a few funny tiny details, like a pacifier in the mandrake's mouth.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing the ARC.
This was very cute! I thought the illustrations were beautiful. The cover is what attracted me to the book in the first place. This type of style is my favorite, and I love dragons and witches. Especially adorable, stretchy dragons. Bean is the perfect companion!
I think this book sets up the universe very nicely. It was cool to have a detailed description of each type of creature. I would’ve liked a little more plot in this book, but I’m hoping there are more adventures coming for Bean and Sally! I will definitely be reading more.
A funny dragon story perfect for fall and Halloween reading. Follow Bean and learn all about different monsters and how Bean spends her days with her best friend Sally the witch.
Bean The Stretchy Dragon: A Sally & Bean Adventure by Ari Stocrate is a children's graphic novel currently scheduled for release on September 19 2023. Meet Bean—a stretchy, cheerful dragon who lives with a grumpy witch named Sally. Whether she’s solo or with Sally, from burying bones to meeting new friends, in this debut graphic novel Bean finds herself an adventure no matter where she goes. A dash of sweet, a pinch of spooky, and plenty of humor.
Bean The Stretchy Dragon is a book that reminds me of classic easy readers with the bold illustrations and large, limited text. I have somehow missed seeing the Webcomic of Sally & Bean, so I had no idea of what to expect, I just thought the cover art was cute. Once I started reading I was glad that the cover drew me in. I thought the art was consistent and cute through out, and I loved the cryptozoological explanations of the critters living in the swamp with Sally and Bean. Some of the pages, with the arrows and descriptions, reminded me of the Scaredy Squirrel books in the very best ways. I though the book was fun to read and to look at and I think there are many readers, of all ages, that will also enjoy the read.
Bean is a very cute dragon that acts like a cat/dog. Her adventures and encounters in the woods were fun to read. This would be great for younger readers.
Bean the Stretchy Dragon was a complete joy to read, with the most adorable illustrations! Kids and adults alike will enjoy this cute little creature and her adventures!
Absolutely magical and adorable! I was a huge fan of this from start to finish. I love how it read like both a story and a magical encyclopedia. I just know the kids at my library are going to love this, this is a definite purchase!
Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the opportunity to read this book and provide my honest opinion.
Told with the signature wit and cleverness of any Andrews McMeel writer, this book is a fun romp through the enchanted forest with cat-like dragon Bean.
The illustrations of this book are just the right mix of humour and absolute adorableness, making me wish I could reach into the pages to bring some of the creatures into my home.
This is a book that begs to have more stories to come, with a universe that we've only just begun to explore.
