I don't know what I really expected from this cookbook, but it really is a solid 90% about how to make tortillas and tacos (like the actual bread/shell).
Somehow thought it would be more about the fillings too but I'm not disappointed with what was included.

Little put off by the fact there's a reliance on a hand press or a machine to make the tortilla but I can understand that's just the way it should be made. I don't think this is the most accessible cookbook for that reason, but if it's a 'thing' of yours then it's good advice for what to invest in and why.

I would have liked more pictures throughout, cooking is as much a visual thing as it is with techniques and instructions.

As a person obsessed with everything tacos this book is all I need and more I love it so much. I’ve already made a few things from the book and they haven’t disappointed me at all. I also love the easy instructions and how it’s great for making recipes in bulk as well.

This book is separated into two parts- how to make the tortillas and then how to use them. I do wish that this cookbook included more pictures. I’m always more motivated to make a recipe when I can see a picture. I am looking forward to trying several of these recipes out during my next taco night.

As noted in the title, the recipes are super easy for "Super Easy Tortilla and Taco Cookbook" by Dotty Griffith. The ingredients are relatively easy to get. The instructions were easy to follow. I did like that it was laid out so I could adjust for serving sizes. Of course, we didn't try everything but what we did try was simple, filling and tasty. I definitely have this book on my wish list now at amazon and I look forward to buying it.

Do you want to learn how to make your own hasa marina or flour tortillas by hand with a manual or an electric tortilla press?
This book explains in detail how to make, form and roll out or press tortillas, nachos, quesadillas, and chalupas just like Taco Bell but better!
You will be making your own homemade tortillas with homemade refried beans using black beans or pinto beans and adding your own mole or spicy taco sauce on top.
There are special sections that showcase enchiladas made with shrimp, cheese or beef, and you will be able to make flour tortilla dumplings, pizza, and even cinnamon sugar flour tortilla crisps and Dulce De Leche!

Super Easy Tortilla and Taco Cookbook by Dotty Griffith

This cookbook is presented in two parts: making tortillas and then chapters addressing different ways of using them. Everything from salsas, nachos, tacos, fajitas and desserts are covered. I like that the recipes that use ingredients that are other recipes in the cookbook reference the page number to find them easily. The measurements and instructions are clear.

I knock off a star for no recipe photography.

Thank you to #NetGalley and #QuartoPublishingGroup for a free copy of #SuperEasyTortillaandTacoCookbook. All opinions are my own.

Super Easy Tortilla and Taco Cookbook
Dotty Griffith
Author Dotty Griffith has divided her book into 2 parts. Part 1 is About Tortillas and How to Make Them. She begins by offering a bit of history surrounding the tortillas. Not all tortillas are made from corn, when Jews settled in northern Mexico they made tortillas from flour. Corn was not considered kosher. I must admit I have never eaten a homemade tortilla but I will soon remedy that. To make homemade tortillas you will need a press. The press can be manual or electric. I prefer the taste of corn tortillas and that will be my focus in this review. Step 1. Make Masa and from golf ball-size rounds. 2. Preheat the griddle. 3. Press a tortilla. 4. Cook the tortilla on a hot flat surface. 5. Keep warm in a tortilla warmer. 6. Repeat.
Part 2 of the book is “Now You’ve Got Tortillas: Let’s Roll”. Author Dotty Griffith shares recipes for filling the tortillas. Ground Beef Filling, Beef Brisket Filling and Broth, Fajita Beef or Chicken, Refried Beans, Grilled Vegetables, Sour Cream Enchilada Sauce, Queso, Pico de Gallo are just a few or her filling recipes. I love Nacho’s and look forward to trying her recipe for Loaded Nachos. There are recipes for Tacos, More Tacos, Breakfast Tacos, plus Burritos, Chimichangas, and Gorditas. I am very fond of Beef or Cheese Enchiladas the recipe in “Super Easy Tortilla and Taco Cookbook” sounds delicious. There are several recipes for seafood tacos and enchiladas. The author has also added many dessert recipes.
There is an index at the end of this book.

I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook. Who doesn't love Mexican food? These recipes seem pretty easy and not a lot of fuss and time consuming. I love making my own tortilla's so I cannot wait to give this a go!

The books starts with making basic flour and corn tortillas and this is the really useful part (about 40 pages of the 144 in total). The next section outlines sauces, salsa and the common meat basics - minced beef, braised pork, chicken, fish, refried and other beans and grilled/roasted veg. The subsequent recipes are, as the title suggests, easy and straightforward and would be good for a cook new to this type of food. Ingredients are in cups but metric is also present (as are oven temperatures in centigrade thank goodness. Ingredients are fairly basic and most should be available in large European supermarkets or from the web. The various cheeses are most likely to be a limiting factor but there are probably suitable alternatives although my experience of American so-called 'Cheddar' is nothing like the real thing. Although there are some illustrations, these are rather few which is a shame. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy.

I loved how this cookbook broke everything down to the basics. How to make your own tortillas, filling, sauces, etc. It sets you up to make everything from scratch. I wish there was more pictures. There definitely doesn’t need to be one for each recipe, but this book felt sparse and I found myself wanting to flip through due to not being visually interested. Very plain on page

I really like to cook mexican food (or tex-mex) so it is refreshing to read the ideas that the book offers so you have more options when you're going to cook

I love tortillas but I have never made them from scratch so the recipes that book has seem easy to follow and delicious.

Also I love that the book offers so much detail in the recipe so people that make them won't be wondering if what they are doing is the right way, I really liked that offers gluten free alternatives
