Wednesday books/St Martin's Press, RB media for audio, thank you for the review copies! I am such a fan of Mazey Eddings and how she approaches themes on neurodiversity, particularly ADHD as a form of neurodiversity. She understands not just how these experiences are varied and complex within and across individuals (no one experience within neurodivergence is the same) but also how stigma, myths/biases are so woven into daily relationships and how these hurtful experiences undermine well-being, confidence, and connection for neurodiverse youth and adults. I really loved how she wrote for a younger audience with Tilly and Oliver and their story of connection, some coming of age vibes, and how Tilly had to handle complicated relationships with her mother and her sister.
This book is excellent on audiobook as the voice acting really brings to life the internal feelings of Tilly and Oliver with narration that feels honest and respectful of neurodiverse experiences. I recommend this format!
My only slight con, strong word so perhaps less enthused response, is for the ending... so many books try to find a way to wrap up a lovely layered story too quickly, or make the ending feel more like the start of a great new novel, and this book has this limitation.... a too quick wrap up that also felt like it could be the start of a new book.
At this point, I will read ANYTHING that Mazey Eddings writes. She brilliantly executes another romance novel where neurodivergence (ADHD and Autism) is front and center, but this time, it's a vibrant coming of age story geared towards young people.
This story follows Tilly (ADHD), a fresh high school graduate who is utterly burnt out of school and has no idea what she wants for the future. Tilly begrudgingly agrees to intern for her perfect older sister for the summer since it means that she will get to travel throughout Europe. Along the way, Tilly meets Oliver (autistic)…her polar opposite who seems to have his whole life figured out…or so he thinks.
What I loved most about this book was watching two neurodivergent teens fall in love who still struggled with communication and their feelings. While being neurodivergent gave Tilly and Oliver their initial deep connection, it didn’t mean that things would be easy for them or that they automatically understood each other’s neurodivergence.
I related so much to Oliver as an autistic, and this story really brought me back to my childhood. His POVs put me through all of the feels knowing that I had very similar experiences but went undiagnosed for so long.
Tilly reminds me so much of my spouse, and I absolutely adored her. She’s so passionate, creative, and a bit erratic, but she has such big feelings.
The one thing that I struggled with during this story were the interactions between Tilly and her mother because Tilly’s mother embraces a lot of the ableist garbage that is thrown at neurodivergent folks. However, it is spot on and something that a lot of people experience.
Overall, this is both an empowering and swoon worthy coming of age story that will have you rooting for Tilly and Oliver.
I loved this story, Mazy did a great job! I really enjoyed the whole book from start to finish, it was very fast paced. Coming of age, dealing with feelings from a neurodivergent perspective was something I have not read before. Kudos to you for doing it so well.
Mazey Eddings’s has written a realistic, fun and also difficult YA romance debut about two neurodivergent teens. They’re thrown together and dont know what to do about it. It was a closed door romance just for the young adults and still had all the heartfelt, messy endearing parts I love about ME’s writing. ME has an unbelievable talent and that makes her an automatic read for me. She writes about life struggles with romance and makes it heart-worthy and adorable.
I also listened to the audiobook and the narrators were amazing. I highly recommend this and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Thanks RB media and St. Martin’s Press via NetGalley.
Tilly is so excited to get out from under her family’s judgment of her ADHD - she’ll be travelling around Europe as her sister’s intern to “pick up some business savvy” and learn from her sister’s nail polish brand launch. What she didn’t expect was that she isn’t the sole summer intern - and that her new coworker happens to be the incredibly cute boy she humiliated herself in front of on the plane ride over.
This book made me feel so incredibly seen. As an ADHD girlie myself, there were so many moments that I just had to pause and soak in because they could have been moments from my own life - “did you remember your meds?”, moments of complete hyperfixation, and impulsive purchases to name a few.
I loved how Tilly and Oliver’s relationship developed - the communication that was necessary to understand each other, the acceptance of the “odd” mannerisms or behaviours that were just normal, and the joy that they brought to each other’s lives was simply beautiful.
Travelling across Europe made for a stunning backdrop to this love story, and the impulsive nature of Tilly contrasts with Oliver’s need for routine and predictability.
Tilly’s writing and Oliver’s photography also made me anxious to create for myself, so thank you for the inspiration, Mazey!
Our narrators were top notch - I thought they embodied the characters really well!
I’d highly recommend this beautiful YA love story to anyone, but especially to my neurospicy bbs!
thank you to st. martins press/wednesday books and rb media for providing me with this alc in exchange for my honest thoughts <3
tilly in technicolor is mazey eddings first foray into ya. it follows tilly, a young girl entering into post-high school life. her adhd made schooling very difficult but that doesn’t stop the pressure for her to apply to colleges. thankfully, tilly gets to spend the summer traveling around europe as a hand model/intern for her sister’s eco-friendly, nontoxic nail polish company. her dilemma come in the shape of oliver clark the photographer/director of social media. the two find themselves growing closer after learning of the other’s neurodivergence, and they embark on a beautiful journey of understanding and love. but they don’t know if their relationship will last after a beautiful summer.
i absolutely love when adult romance authors take the step into ya and mazey eddings did not disappoint!! tilly and oliver felt like a warm hug, like finally being seen, like love and joy and so much more!! this was a wonderful read and i found myself tearing up so many times as the characters were expressing what it is like to live in a world that often overlooks neurodivergency. i’m so excited for teens and young adults to have this story and know the comfort of having characters that are like them. it’s amazing and wonderful!! thank you mazey eddings for writing another show-stopping book!!!
the audio was phenomenal and i highly recommend listening to it as justis bolding and chris nelson really captured the emotions and the heart of the novel!!
Tilly Twomley has finally made it through high school. Her future is up in the air. Having ADHD made her school experience extremely difficult and she is looking for a way forward that does not include going to college, something her parents are not willing to accept. Her sister offers Tilly the option of a summer in Europe as an intern for her new company. During an eventful flight Tilly meets Oliver Clark. Being autistic Oliver craves order and has difficulty making friends and connecting to others. Photography is Oliver's business and is shocked to find he has been hired to work with Tilly's sister.
This book was wonderful. I felt so many connections with Tilly and her experience with school and figuring out what I wanted to do with my life. Mazey Eddings has such a gift when it comes to writing relatable characters. I have read and loved all of her other books. She is an auto buy author for me! I can't wait to see what is next.
I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed the narration!
Tilly is ready for a change of scenery and a trip around Europe is exactly what she needs. Sure, working as an intern for her perfect sister’s start up isn’t ideal, but after struggling through high school thanks to her ADHD, she’s excited for the opportunity to move and explore. Too bad she and the other intern, Oliver immediately get off on the wrong foot. Because of his autism, Oliver has always had difficulty when it comes to people. As they spend more time together, a connection between them grows.
I loved everything about this book. Tilly and Oliver were incredible together and I loved how they balanced each other out and supported each other in so many ways. This was a beautiful neurodiverse love story with such incredible characters. I loved both Tilly and Oliver and honestly left this book wishing they were real people so I could be their friend. From start to finish the book captured my heart.
Thank you to Wednesday books for the gifted copy.
A story that truly shines with a plethora of colors! This book is the journey of two neurodiverse teen interns, traveling Europe and discovering that the world can be a beautiful place with people who understand you.
Seeing ADHD from Tilly's POV when she writes her blog was so insightful for me on a personal level, and left me with a better understanding of what my niece deals with on a daily basis, so I'll forever be grateful to Mazey for that.
Oliver is so tender and sweet, you can't help but love him and the way he views the world in colors. He's a giant teddy bear that I just want to hug and keep in my pocket. A beautiful soul that anyone would be lucky to have as a best friend.
My heart is so full after reading this book and while it's marketed as YA, everyone should read it! I listened to the audiobook, and while I didn't fully resonate with the male narrator, it didn't detract from the story at all for me. The cover makes me smile every time I see it now, and I can't wait to read it again soon.
"𝘐'𝘮 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘶𝘤𝘬 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘷𝘪𝘣𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳." 🌈
Y'ALL. I'm not okay.
If I could give this book 1,000 stars I absolutely would.
I have never, ever felt so seen.
I was sobbing by the end of this.
As someone who grew up with undiagnosed ADHD, in a time when talking about mental health was unheard of - let alone going to the doctor about it, I spent this whole book thinking back to various stages of my life and saying "omg it all makes so much sense".
The impulses. The hyperfixation. Learning to function in a world that never recognized these feelings until I was much, much older.
Finding someone who loves me for ALL of me, no matter what.
Thank you so much to @recordedbooks and @netgalley for the advanced copy of this audiobook in exchange for this review!

THANK YOU NETGALLEY AND RB AUDIO FOR THIS AUDIO ARC!!!!!!
If I could scream my love for this story and Tilly and Oliver, I would! Tilly and Oliver are just perfect. Perfectly flawed, perfectly awesome.
Justis Bolding and Chris Nelson did an amazing job bringing Tilly and Oliver to life. I will listen to this story on a loop, or until it gets archived.
All the stars, all the colors of the rainbow, all the lattes for Mazey Eddings and this masterpiece!!!
Tilly in Technicolor was an absolute dream of a romance book. The two main characters Tilly and Olly were adorable. I loved following their journey of not only falling in love but in finding themselves. Oliver descriptions of colour made me feel as if I should be looking at the world through a whole new perspective and the way he would describe Tilly as safe colours made my heart melt.
All the feels. All the stars.
Mazey Eddings just did something really difficult and made it look easy. Her transition from adult romance to YA romance was utterly seamless and truly impressive. Tilly in Technicolor is FANTASTIC.
Tilly Twomley is perhaps one of my favorite characters of all time. The ADHD rep is PERFECTION. It was like looking in a mirror at my younger self--onlyI didn't have the benefit of a diagnosis to help me make sense of my world. Oliver Clark is a sweet angel baby, and I love him to pieces. I love how Eddings presented his autism as just a part of who he is--not his defining characteristic. It's an integral part of him, but it isn't his entire identity.
I think it's official. I will read anything Mazey Eddings writes. If she published her grocery list, I'd probably read it because I know she'd find a way to make it epically awesome.
Tilly in Technicolor is perfect for fans of Erin Hahn, Talia Hibbert, Rachel Lynn Solomon, and Jenny Hahn. Tilly and Oliver are #couplegoals for the neurodiverse teenage demographic. Adorable, dorky, and somehow totally swoony, all at the same time.
I listened to the audiobook, which is my preferred way to read as an ADHD girly. The narrators--Chris Nelson and Justis Bolding--delivered incredible performances, and they really brought Tilly and Oliver to life.
this book is just so beautiful, and the audiobook version is absolutely perfect! exactly how I imagined these characters brought to life in voice! Tilly & Ollie are the most beautifully authentic soulmates I’ve ever read, I love them with my whole heart.
My full review:
“Being around you— seeing the way you shine— is like discovering a new color of the rainbow every single day.”
I absolutely loved this book. Tilly and Ollie are two of the loveliest characters I have ever fallen in love with. both radiate so much love and kindness and sunshine and happiness. they show their love for each other in their most true and authentic ways that are lovely testaments to the multitude of ways people can love one another.
the neurodiverse representation was so special to read. I love stories that showcase the beautifully honest and unique way people live and love. this story was so special, full of love and understanding between Oliver and Tilly, as well as their friends and family.
the familial love here was so abundant and everchanging— showing how love doesn’t always mean we fully understand, but that we will always show up and keep learning 🤍
thank you for the ARC!!!! :)
This is such a cute story of two neurodivergent teens working and falling in love across Europe during their summer internships. I appreciated the ADHD and autism representation and seeing Tilly and Oliver open up to one another and share how they have a hard time fitting into the norms of society. The characters are charming with a lot of heart but are navigating complex feelings and misunderstandings. It’s a cute story overall, though wish the ending was a bit more drawn out. Recommend if you like young adult romances or are looking for neurodiverse representation. I especially enjoyed the audiobook narration with dual narrators for Tilly and Ollie.
A girl with ADHD and a boy with Autism meet and what follows is a beautifully chaotic and (literally) colorful romance!
* a disastrous meet cute
* opposites attract YA romance
* forced proximity / one bed
* neurodiverse (ADHD and Autism) rep
* strong character growth
* extremely lovable characters
* European adventures
Oh, my heart… this was just so stinking cute!! It was heartwarming and silly and emotional and just, so wonderful! I loved how Mazey seamlessly incorporated Ollie and Tilly’s amazing way they see the world into their love story – word vomit blog posts and everything being compared to a Panton color (trust me, you’ll understand once you read it). They both grow so much and really discover who they are and how to navigate complex feelings. Honestly, this was just beautifully written – I was swooning one minute, laughing the next, and feeling sad for our MMCs when they were sad. I felt it ALL and if that’s not a sign of a well written book, idk what is!
Rating: 5 stars!
I was so excited to get the audiobook of 'Tilly in Technicolor'! I have read all of Mazey Eddings previous books, and I was look forward to her first YA book- This book did not disappoint! It was such an enjoyable story, and I loved both of the narrators too.
Tilly has just graduated from high school, and her parents want her to have a plan for her life. Tilly is going to spend the summer with her sister, Mona, interning with her nail polish company in Europe. Tilly's recent ADHD diagnosis has led her to understand so much more about herself, but it's caused the rest of her family to want to baby her. This causes Tilly to want to assert herself and do what she loves to do, which is writing.
Oliver is the opposite of Tilly. He has a successful instagram page that focuses on color and design. He loves talking about colors and finding colors in everyday things. Oliver meets Tilly on the plane to London, and her personality clashes with his. His autism makes it difficult for him to have relationships, and it causes friction on the plane ride with Tilly.
As they spend more time together, they start to share a bond, and their neurodiverse connection allows them to really see each other for who they are. They don't know how to share how they feel about each other, but they start to see how amazing their connection truly is.
This book had all of the charm of a Mazey Eddings' book, and I loved it so much!
Thanks to NetGalley and RB Media for an ALC of this amazing book.
I started this book laughing and laughed some more while reading. There were some tears too. I felt like this was such a good representation of ADHD and Autism. These are such hard topics but so real. I wanted to be Tilly’s bestie from the start. Oliver was such a sweetie. I just wanted to hug them both. I love the family growth the Tilly has throughout the book. I just loved the narrators. I cannot wait to read more by this author. Thank you to NetGalley and RB Media for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
Tilly in Technicolor
Mazey Eddings
5⭐️
I have fallen so totally in love with Mazey Eddings and her writing style. Her YA debut, Tilly in Technicolor was another absolute winner and an utter delight to read. Her characters are so lovable and relatable. Her stories are beautifully written, and full of vivid descriptions, depth, complex emotions, and so many moments that make you genuinely laugh out loud.
Tilly and Ollie stole my whole heart. I literally couldn’t get enough of them. They were sweet, lovable, SO authentic, and the way Mazey wrote their inner monologue, I felt like I was actually living in their brains feeling all of their complex feelings and emotions. Watching these two neurodiverse lovelies learn and grow both as individuals and as friends, and then ultimately as they fall in love was the sweetest thing ever! It was eye opening and informative and I loved every single minute of this book. This was an exceptionally beautiful first love story and you truly wont want to miss it.
What I loved;
🩷 Meet Disaster
🩷 Opposites Attract
🩷 Neurodivergent MC’s
🩷 Mental Health Rep
🩷 Forced Proximity
🩷 Tilly’s Blog Posts
🩷 Oliver’s Pantone References
The ALC came up on NetGalley this week for request, and even though I’d already read the digital ARC in July, I jumped at the opportunity to do a reread w/the audio. OMG I adored the heck out it. Justis Bolding and Chris Nelson were Tilly and Oliver perfection. I didn’t think was possible but having a voice to them made me love these beautiful characters even more.
Pub Date 8/15: The audiobook was an absolute joy to listen to and I would wholeheartedly recommend.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and RB Media, Recorded books for the ALC in exchange for my honest review.
First YA romance from Mazey Eddings and it was just perfection!
Tilly has ADHD, Oliver is autistic and those two characters put together are the best couple you could ever read about.
This book made me laugh and cry and it was really good to hear about how it’s sometimes hard to live normally when you are autistic or have ADHD but also how this is part of who they are and not a « disease ». Tilly has a colorful personality, she is cute and kind and knows who she is and who she wants to be.
Oliver has autism and express himself by taking photos and « playing » with colors to show how the world can be beautiful.
It was a 5 stars read (for me infinite stars) and I recommend it to YA/romance readers.
