This was a great read! 4 women lose their significant others in a plane crash and decide to figure out what happened. All 4 women are completely different which makes it great!!! I received an advanced readers copy and all opinions are my own.
Young Rich Widows is sexy, dramatic, pure entertainment fun that is impossible to set down and leaves the reader dying for more from these sassy, brilliant women.
I am utterly in love with this book - everything from the over-the-top drama of the 80’s setting in mobster-run Rhode Island, the undeniably loveable characters and all their many flaws, and the whirlwind soap-opera drama of the plot which finds four women become widows and simultaneously in debt to local mobsters while scrambling for answers and their safety. It is pure, delicious, diabolical popcorn thriller enjoyment at its absolute best.
So. Freaking. Good.
I don’t want to give any spoilers but for the love of all things, put this book firmly on your spring/summer reading list and prepare yourself for a really satisfying adventure with a book date. It just can NOT be missed.
Many thanks to @bookmarked for the copy. @vanessalillie, @kimberlysbelle, @laynefargo and @cateholahan - you saucy minxes keep it up with this fabulous dynamic you have going on here. The world needs more widows.
Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
An entertaining read, but not my cup of tea, nonetheless an interesting read.

REVIEW
Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for this ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Wow! What a wonderful read. An amazing book, storyline by four of the authors. I started this book and finished it in one sitting. It was that good. I liked the characters, although I would have wanted some changes, but they were okay.
👩🏼🤝👩🏽👩🏼🤝👩🏽
The book started with a plane crash and the widows racing to find a solution to the mess their partners left behind. It was exhilarating and very dangerous. I was surprised that there was another problem apart from the 'first' issue. I liked the mystery and its unfolding. I loved the twist at the ending. I didn't see it coming.
👩🏼🤝👩🏽👩🏼🤝👩🏽
Now, the characters. I like some and didn't like one. But, I liked how they met, fought, and then befriended each other. It was girl power and I liked that. I also felt that they were too forgiving. I don't think I would have been as forgiving as that, but it worked for them. Justine was my favourite though, she re-discovered herself and she was a good mother.

This book was very good and I enjoyed every part of it. I liked that everyone got what they deserved and the HEA. It was worth the read.

BOOK REVIEW: 🖤🖤🖤🖤/5
Four partners of a prestigious law firm are killed in a brutal plane crash! Four widows are left behind to deal with all their secrets, lies and unlawful debts. A couple of the widows are devastated by their loss, while a couple are thankful to be free of their husbands!
Soon after the news of the plane crash comes forward, the widows find out that their husbands put up $1 million dollars each as collateral to secure real estate to build a new mall. Supposedly the $4 million burned with the plane … so now it’s up to the widows to come up with that money before the mob ends them all for good!
Thank you kindly to @kimberlysbelle @laynefargo @cateholahan @vanessalillie @bookmarked @netgalley for my advanced copy in exchange for my honest review! This book is out NOW! I really enjoyed the collaboration of authors coming together on this blast from the past 80s cat and mouse story!
When four partners of a law firm take a business trip on a private jet they thought nothing of it. That is until the plane has a malfunction and crashes. Leaving their four widows behind to fend for themselves. However, not everything is as it seems and the plane malfunction may not have been as accidental as it appears. It’s now up to their widows to uncover what exactly happened and try to stay alive at the same time.
I’ve had this one on my TBR for awhile now and the fact that the book was written by four thriller authors in collaboration was very unique. Each chapter tells the POV from each of the widows and each author took on writing for each character. This book had it all, love, betrayal, violence, mobsters, corruption etc. I really enjoyed the story and finding out what was going to happen to the characters. All four the widows are very different to start and it’s interesting how their relationships grow throughout the book. This was a very solid read and I would recommend it to others.
This book was SO good! It was so much fun to read, and I absolutely loved it! I'm so happy it came out as a physical book since I'm not an audiobook person.
It's 1985, and a private jet crashes on its way to NYC, killing the four partners of a prominent Providence, RI law firm. Apparently, there was a large sum of money on that plane. Now, 4 women, the widows, are left behind to clean up the mess. Justine, Camile, Krystale, and Meredith must put their differences aside and work together to find out the truth to protect themselves, their families, and their inheritance. Who does the money belong to? Was the money really on the plane? Were the partners involved in something that got them killed? Will the wives be next?
Told in alternating POVs of each widow, this book was incredibly entertaining! I was hooked from the very 1st page and didn't want to put it down. I loved the characters so much. Each woman was unique and brought something different to the story. The mob ties made this book even more captivating. There was lots of drama, mystery, and action. And it takes place in the 80s! The authors did an amazing job, and I'm SO looking forward to Desperate Deadly Widows. This book will probably make my top 10 this year, so I HIGHLY recommend it.
Break out your shoulder pads, ladies!
What an indulgent read for me and my inner 80's teenage self, especially as Spring Break ends! I feel as if the talented authors @kimberlysbelle @laynefargo @cateholahan @vanessalillie took a smash up of Desperately Seeking Susan and Married to the Mob, added a hint of Miami Vice (& Drakkar Noir), and then sprinkled it with a bit of First Wives Club meets Erin Brockovich, and I loved it.
It's funny, snarky, spicy, racy, lacy, and at the same time tender and compassionate, centering on the bonds of friendship (and motherhood)! And the twists and turns I never saw coming! My favorite part, TBH, has to be the interview at the end. #justsaying
Thanks to #NetGalley for my ebook ARC, as it debuts tomorrow, April 2, when I can get my hands on an actual, physical copy!
Note: Originally an Audible Original, I may have binged the audio and its sequel! (These reviews will just have to wait for a Thirsty Thursday post!)
P.S. Let me know if (or when) you read it! I need to compare notes and know who you thought authored what character/widow (before you get to the interview, btw).

I mostly picked this one up because it was written by multiple authors that I have loved before.
I think that this was trying to be and do too much.
I found myself losing interest pretty quickly.
This was just okay for me, and I don't think that I would widely recommend it.
Thank you to Netgalley & the publisher for my early arc.
Young Rich Widows was going back in time to the 80s with a dash of desperate housewives meets the sopranos, Right off the bat I was hooked. A plane crash the mob and then 4 widows. Lots of action and great characters i cannot wait to see what’s next for the widows!!!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Landmark for gifting me a digital ARC of this wild ride of a thriller by Vanessa Lillie; Layne Fargo; Cate Holahan; Kimberly Belle - 4 stars! I also realized it was available free on Audible, so after reading most of it digitally, I switched to the audio - and the voices made it even better!
In 1985, four partners of a prominent law firm die in a mysterious plane crash outside NYC. Back in Provincetown RI, their widows have to come together to figure out what happened as well as save their own lives and inheritances. The women are very different - Justine, a former model and now mother; Camille, a trophy wife; Krystle, looking out for her sons to take over the firm; and Meredith, a stripper secretly involved with the only female partner.
This was loads of fun - the women couldn't be more different but they are forced to work together to save themselves and each other. There are laugh out loud moments, snarky comments, and an over the top plot - who can resist? You'll be rooting for these women - and there's going to be a sequel, so sign me up!
Krystle, Meredith, Justine, and Camille all have one thing in common--they're all married to partners in the same law firm. When the partners' plane goes down en route from New York City, they all become widows, and all of a sudden a lot of shady characters are saying the new widows owe them a lot of money...and one guy who just really wants some paperwork.
This book was such a fun romp! The transitions between characters could be a bit rough at times, but I think that's what happens when yo have for individual people telling the story instead of just one author. But I couldn't help but love almost all the wives (Krystle, I'm looking at you). This book was a lot of fun to read, and I'm glad that they did put out a print version since it was originally only available on one platform as an audiobook. I really wanted to read it, as I'm a big fan of Kimberly Belle's and Layne Fargo's books, and I also now have two new authors I get to check out!
YOUNG RICH WIDOWS is an entertaining mystery co-written by four fantastic thriller writers – Kimberly Belle, Layne Fargo, Cate Holahan and Vanessa Lillie. It was originally released as an audiobook in 2022, but I read the Kindle version being released by Sourcebooks Landmark on April 2. It is set in 1985 in Providence, Rhode Island and chock full of references to Providence landmarks and the 80s which I especially enjoyed since I lived in Providence in the 80s. In the story, four women are thrown together when their spouses, all partners in a prominent law firm, are killed in a mysterious private plane crash outside New York City. But something doesn’t add up. None of the partners were supposed to be in New York City that day and now the mob is searching for millions of dollars supposedly owed to them by the firm. Was the plane crash an accident or were the partners intentionally killed because of a mob deal gone haywire. The widows couldn’t be more different, but they are forced to band together to uncover the truth of what really happened. Secrets, lies and betrayals are soon revealed that put the widows in grave danger at every turn. Can they solve the mystery while protecting themselves, their families and their inheritances? I enjoyed this humorous and fun mystery and I’d like to thank the authors, publisher and NetGalley for the chance to read and review an early copy.
John Yunker's 'Young Rich Widows' masterfully blends elements of mystery, suspense, and social commentary into a gripping narrative that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. Set in the opulent world of Newport, Rhode Island, author Vanessa Lillie brings to life the lives of young, wealthy widows who are suddenly thrust into the spotlight after the mysterious deaths of their husbands. As tensions rise and secrets unravel, Lillie deftly navigates the complexities of grief, privilege, and power dynamics within the tight-knit community. Through her skillful prose and finely drawn characters, she invites readers into a world filled with intrigue and deception, where nothing is as it seems. 'Young Rich Widows' is a captivating read that will leave readers eagerly turning pages until the final, shocking twist.
I don’t think I’ve ever read a book outside of an anthology that has four authors, so this was a new and interesting read for me! We have four rich widows, as the title suggests, and this story gets pretty deep…
A plane takes off in New York, but never makes it to Rhode Island. Something goes horribly wrong. The plane explodes, killing everyone on board, including four partners of a law firm: Romeo, Peter, Jack and Robin. Their wives are at a party when they find out, and immediately they know why this may have happened.
Krystle is the wife of the law firm’s founding partner, Romeo. Their loser adult son, Rom, also works at the firm.
Camille is Peter’s wife. Sexy, flirty and wealthy, she was having an affair with Jack, and seems to mourn more for him than her own husband.
Justine is Jack’s wife, and they’ve have a toddler named JJ. She definitely noticed Camille’s reaction to the death of their husbands, but she’s just trying to make sure her son is okay through this.
Meredith (stripper name, Tina) is the in-the-closet partner of Robin, the only female partner in the firm. It’s 1985, so they aren’t married, but Robin’s will is made out to her - the closest they could get.
Soon, this story gets some more traction as we find out the law firm owes four million dollars to the mob. The widows are contacted and told of they don’t have the money by New Year’s Eve, things are going to get nasty. This is only days away - they don’t have time to sell their houses or take out loans, they need to find this money that may have blown up on the planes The women race to find the money in time for the boss’s New Year’s party/orgy - they all dress like whores and go through the doors, and that’s when things really get crazy.
This is set in 1985, and I adored the references to music, pantyhose with shoulder pads, mountains of cocaine, and fur coats (also, I loved the part where someone sliced garlic so thin it liquified in the pan, ala Goodfellas). This was a suspenseful and entertaining read; at first I didn’t like the widows, but after a while, the author told me more about them, and a little bond was formed. It looks like there will be a second book about the widows, and I will be there for it! Four stars.
(Thank you to Sourcebooks Landmark, Vanessa Lillie, Layne Fargo, Cate Holahan, Kimberly Belle and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my review.)
The four partners of a law firm dying in a plane crash on the first page, thinking their last thoughts and regrets? Immediate attention grabber. Young Rich Widows had me enraptured from the beginning. This 80s thriller is twisty, emotionally provocative, and mysterious.
Four windows at a Christmas party learn of their spouses' demises, setting in motion a journey that reveals dark secrets hidden in their relationships. Who was responsible? How far will they go to keep the windows from exposing their secret?
This book has me tearing up, gasping, and second guessing myself. I love the epilogue showcasing an interview between the widows and the authors. The fourth wall break is so unique and funny after a tense read.
Thank you to Netgalley, Kimberly, Layne, Cate, Vanessa, and Sourcebooks for this egalley!
This was a fun read. The 4 women (widows) are so witty and fun. This is a mystery/thriller and so many twists and turns you won't be able to tell what will happen next and this definitely will keep you guessing. I was very excited to be able to get the ARC. I have heard so much about this book and wonderful reviews and they didn't lie. This was such a quick easy enjoyable read.
As others have classified it, it was campy - put it in the Janet Evanovich style of writing. The story follows 4 women, widowed by a plane crash that took their lawyer partners. Was it an accident...or a coverup? This could have read tragically, but it was written as a lightweight book, so if you're looking for something to read in a day, this is a good candidate. It was a collaboration by four writers and an interesting experiment.
Thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Landmark for an advance reader's copy.
Wow! This is such a fun read, I loved the four widows, Justine, Camille, Krystle and Meredith.
Becoming widows brought these four woman together, they would not have chosen to be friends, they could not be more different.
This is a wild, slightly crazy story, completely over the top, but highly entertaining. The four must stick together to find the truth, what brought the plane crashing down that killed their spouses? Was it intentional or an accident? They must protect their inheritance. They are sassy, smart, tough and determined.
Four very talented authors have created this fun fabulous read. Could there be a book 2?
Thanks to Net Galley and SourceBooks Landmark for an ARC of this book in exchange for a review.
Young Rich Widows is about the widows of four lawyers who are unexpectedly killed in a plane crash. The widows seemingly have nothing in common except the dead lawyers, however circumstances force them to work together.
This was a fast read with a few unexpected twists throughout. There were a lot of characters which took some time to get straight in my head.
