Bodyguard romances never fail to give me ALL of the feels. If this book was a song, it would be, hands down, Look What You Made Me Do by Taylor Swift, and if that doesn’t convince you to read it, I don’t know what will.

This book has:
•Celebrity romance 🎬: Courtney is a famous actress who is put under the protection of Damian, a former Marine turned bodyguard
•Forced proximity: Courtney is laying low at Damian’s house to avoid the fallout caused by her divorce from her A-list actor husband
•The friends-to-lovers trope!! 💕

Thank you to Netgalley and Indigo Group for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

After Courtney finds out that her husband of over twelve years is cheating on her with a much younger woman she needs to flee from the public eye and regroup. She ends up hiding out with her hot bodyguard Damien in his cabin. Damien is determined to help Courtney recover from the betrayal along with bringing her back up in the public eye. The two work together to help Courtney get revenge on her ex who’s hellbent on destroying her career and reputation. As the two grow closer and closer they realize they have chemistry but they can’t cross that line. Can they?

Overall, I did enjoy this book. I mainly only had two complaints about this book. One, I didn’t like the insta lust. That’s just personally not a trope I enjoy but I know others do like it! Two, I felt like the plot was starting to get dragged on a bit towards the end. I had found myself getting a bit bored in the last twenty percent as it seemed like the book's purpose had been served.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for providing me with this arc in exchange for an honest review.

This was a cute story. The characters seemed like they had good hearts and there was a lot of fun chemistry between them. I took a star off my review because of the weed brownie.

This is my first book I’ve read by Melanie Summers and while I wondered at first what could be different with this book I truly enjoyed the military references and the characters of Damien and Courtney as well as the supporting characters along the way. I ended up loving the story and wanting to read more books by this author!

Thank you NetGalley and Melanie Summers for this ARC.

This was a cute book. I didn’t love it but I also didn’t hate it. It’s light hearted and has some funny moments. I liked the storyline.

Read this in under 24 hours honestly. It was such a good empowering, steamy and romantic read. There's lot of build-up and forced proximity, which I enjoy a lot. Alo, the body guard trope is always superior.

Courtney is a Hollywood actress who's career suddenly spirals when she catches her husband cheating on her after years of marriage. She is pawned off by her agent and "care team" to Damien's house, a hired body guard while they find a way to handle the situation at hand.

Damien is an ex-Marine who is now working on security while he works on his dream, opening Aspen Lake Lodge, a retreat place where individuals can learn techniques that will allow the to successfully take control of their lives. He needs an investor that will believe in the project to fund it, but has had no luck.

As Courtney faces betrayal and angst in light of the situation, Damien offers Courtney free of charge his 6 week program in returns of her being an ambassador once proven it works.

This book is all about girl power, defying the rules society places women on age and expectations, and healthy feminine positivity.

🇬🇧 Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this book. Already it starts with slut shaming and a trivialization of the rope like "it's a bitch who sleeps with directors for a role" which I really don't appreciate and which meant that I didn't get the best state of mind during the rest.

Then in terms of the characters I am neutral about courtney, she did not make me hot or cold (except for her sexist remarks) But Damian! I really didn't appreciate it. And it only took me one sentence to make him lose my respect
Small spoiler in quotes

“I spent over twenty years in the marines. Living in camps in all different parts of the worlds, fighting on the front lines for reasons if still don't understand"

The sentence could have passed if we had had a good explanation of why he joined except that nada! So for me he joined this profession mainly to type and play sports and that is not a sufficient reason for my taste.

As for the story itself, it is basic, not much happens. The writing was nice, easy to read sometimes funny. I think the most interesting point of the novel is the divorce and the new independence of the main character, that's in any case what I preferred, seeing her little by little gain confidence in herself is very pleasant, on the other hand I was a little disappointed Of the divorce scene, it wasn't satisfying enough for my liking

My final note : 2,5 / 5

« I spent over twenty years in the marines. Living in camps in all different parts of the worlds, fighting on the front lines for reasons si still don’t understand »

I tried to get into this one and gave it a fair shot but ultimately didn’t finish it. The main character was going through a lot but she seemed a bit dramatic at times. I feel like the bodyguard prejudged her but then she acted just like he thought she would, spoiled and rich. He gave her tough love for sure and made her grow a backbone

I didn't hate this book, but I also didn't love it and let me tell you why – I think I'm not an instalove girly. It doesn't seem to be a trope that resonates with me, which is super unfortunate since it's in so many books. I love a good celebrity behind the scenes moment though, so there were still plenty of enjoyable moments throughout this book. Overall though, I think not knowing in advance that this was a rewrite would've been better for me personally. The whole time I was wondering about the previous version and if I would've preferred it, but alas.

Courtney is a Hollywood actress recently caught up in a scandal thanks to her cheating husband. In order to keep Courtney to law low, her team has drugged her and sent her out to Colorado for a man to become her bodyguard. Damien Young is an ex-marine who is now not only Courtney's new bodyguard, but is trying to get his Aspen Lake Lodge up and running.

Slowly as time goes by, Courtney realizes she can't trust her team or husband. Plus, she needs to find a really good lawyer to help her in the divorce. While Courtney may have felt that she had no strength after this messy situation, Damien believes and proves the Courtney has tremendous amount of strength and is stronger than she realizes.

While spending time together 24/7, they slowly start to fall for each other and finally give into the romance that was brewing up. Reading their love story was super sweet.

I enjoy reading books written by Melanie Summers. She is an excellent author and definitely showing multiple sides of her writing abilities. Courtney and Damien’s story is a bit heartbreaking. The hurdles they overcame had me smiling ear to ear. A beautiful HEA And a very cute story!

A Hollywood Ending by Melanie Summers offers a spicy, opposites-attract romance featuring America's sweetheart, Courtney Bennett, and her hot bodyguard, Damien Young. The story explores heartbreak, resilience, and undeniable chemistry. While enjoyable, it doesn't quite reach the full potential of a 4-star rating.

This was a cute story that had some fun twists. It did start to feel like the plot became a device to connect the steamy scenes, which is where I lose interest. I was skimming the last half or so, because it got very slow and not very much happened besides the two characters "connecting". I think there are readers who are looking for that, though, and would be very pleased with the way this story goes. For me, I prefer more plot and effort put into the storyline.

Funny and fun, full of heart, this was a very funny comedy. It keeps you entertained and enraptured. Good refresher book

This is fine, but it’s missing…something. It’s a little bit Insta-lovey, I just find it hard to believe that Courtney was devastated about her divorce and then madly in love less than 6 weeks later? Also, there’s insufficient banter. Both of these are definitely personal preference issues.

Thank you NetGalley for approving me of this ARC! This was such a quick and fun read! I DEVOURED this book in 2 days! It made me feel all kinda of emotions. I loved the chemistry between Damien and Courtney. I loved how she was able to build herself up again and find happiness in the end 💕 this was my first book ever to read by Melanie Summers and I’ll be reading more of her books in the future!

A lovely story about picking yourself up and moving on and taking your life back and not letting anyone make you out to be the victim. One day Courtney had it all, great career, fame, and doting husband. But then her life was upended when she finds out her husband is cheating on her and she is caught up in the scandal. She decides to lay low for a while and regroup and is sent off with a bodyguard, Damien. Damien is an ex-Marine who works in security now. He is a good, honest man, and becomes Courtney's biggest supporter. Courtney had to learn how to be her own person and become stronger and choose better people to trust. Her journey was a difficult one, but every time she wanted to give up, Damien was right there to provide his support and urge her on.
Damien and Courtney were lovely, well-defined characters and I enjoyed seeing them together. They had such strong and undeniable chemistry, you could feel the electricity between them. The story was sweet, well-written and flowed smoothly. I enjoyed the story and am glad to have had the opportunity to read it.
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

First of all I’d like to start this review by thanking NetGalley, Indigo Group and of course, Melanie Summers for the ARC!

From the moment I read the blurb and saw the cover I was sold and this book did not disappoint. I’m honestly in love with both, the characters and the storyline.

Courtney is a Hollywood actress whose life falls apart when her husband (who also happens to be an actor) cheats on her. She finds out that she is lost without him and embarks on a journey to discover her true self with the help of a person she just met.

Damien is a retired Marine that has resorted to bodyguard gigs to finance his dream project (a luxury retreat). When Courtney lands on his doorstep, alone and broken, he makes it his new mission to help her out in exchange for her to promote his new business idea.

Their relationship is meant to be strictly business, but will they stay between the limits of what's right or will they give into the scorching attraction they felt from the very beginning?

The tension between these two had me reaching for a bottle of water and the A/C control more than once. The banter was top tier and their support for each other's dreams made this the perfect combination of sweet and steamy read that I loved!

For me this was a very quick read that had a unique and well carried out plot. If you enjoy non-toxic relationships, sweet MMCs and strong willed FMCs with a touch of spice and drama, then this is your book!

I really loved the concept of this book but the execution was not exactly what I was hoping for. I did not find the character to be believable and this also hindered the romantic aspect of the book for me. The spice part of the book was just kind of mild and lacking chemistry. very predictable which can happen with this predictable trope but alas I did not feel like anything new or interesting was brought to the table with this.

This book restored my will to read contemporary romance again and I’m not even exaggerating 🤭

*I initially got this book as an arc from NetGalley and Indigo group publishing tyvm!

To start at the beginning I loved that we saw a glimpse of Courtney before Damien and Damien before Courtney because it allowed their growth to be more visible throughout the book. The writing and plot were super enjoyable and nice and fluffy which made this book really easy to read. It gave me huge Netflix rom com vibes too which i love😭

I loved seeing Courtney(fmc) mature from the start of the book she was so sweet and fun I loved her honestly. I also really loved that her journey was not about finding a new man post Broke😒 but about herself. As for Damien(mmc) I also love him although he was kind of pissing me off in the end I couldn’t even be mad because he was so respectful 😭. Like honestly can do no wrong.

While I love rom coms there are certain parts of them that I don’t love such as the 3rd act break up and the see through plots. Yes I knew that Broke was cheating immediately but in a way that made me want to keep reading to see it all play out. Yes this had a third act break up but because their relationship was so fun and Damien is so respectful about it and communicative It really wasn’t bad?🫣 also some points in the beginning about the reasons they weren’t dating made sense but Damien’s moral rule of no dating clients went away so fast Idek why it was introduced because I do think recently being cheated on and filing for divorce would have been enough.

The only thing I can think of at the moment is the overuse of the phrase “lingering kiss” but it was truly a nice little fluffy romcom with a really enjoyable story both inside and outside of the romance.
