I've read a few other books by Melanie Summers and this one did not disappoint. I really loved Courtney right out the gate and even though the story was predictable, I feel like the author really made this special between Courtney and Damien.
I loved the initial sexual tension between the ever professional Damien and the beautiful and talented Courtney. After dealing with such a tragic ending to her marriage, Damien really empowered Courtney to be the best version of herself and to shine as an individual. I also believe he saved her in a way from toxic people who didn't have her best interests at heart.
This book was not only a full on Rom Com with all that comes with that, but the spice level was definitely turned all the way up!
**I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review. I want to thank Netgalley and the author for this copy.
The cover, title and description were so intriguing. Unfortunately, the story itself didn’t live up to the expectations. I didn’t find the characters to be likeable and the plot overall was very overdramatic, unrealistic and misogynistic. I really liked the author’s writing style, though. Would definitely read something else from them in the future.
Thank you NetGalley for the e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.
2.5 💫
I have the feeling that my last reads are kinda disappointing lol.
When I saw this book and read the blurb I thought this arc would be a solid 5 star but unfortunately it wasn't. The cover looks like something new and the blurb really intriguing but the book didn't deliver it.
In my opinion, the plot was overdramatic and some parts of the story unrealistic. The writing style was good and I can imagine reading other books by this author.
The worst thing in this book was insta lust. Nah honestly why is this shitty trope haunting me everywhere? 😭
Somehow I don't have much to say in this review.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me an arc in exchange for a honest review!
Unfortunately, this was a big no for me. (DNF @51%)
I wanted so badly to like this because HELLO that cover is gorgeous and we love a bodyguard romance. However, it's not just that I cannot *stand* these characters, it's that I think they are actually toxic and this is not a model people should enjoy! In fact, I was highlighting icks and red flags during the first half I read. (The main character calling another woman a slut? PASS. And Damien's "coaching" business? Uncomfy vibes.)
What's more, the romance was not developed enough and I wasn't buying it! I just don't think they were good people and I didn't want them to end up together!
Overall, this book just left a bad taste in my mouth and I had to bow out.
Thank you to Indigo Group and Netgalley for the e-ARC in exchange for my honest, unbiased review.
I am usually not into Hollywood/celebrity romances but I must admit Courtney is a really nice character. Her life is collapsing at the beginning of the novel and she is saved (quite literaly) by Damien, a bodygard - veteran from Afghanistan.
She's hot, he's super hot and charming, and they have a wonderful connexion.
When they start working together, Damien gives Courtney readings about the art of war, so I was expecting more judiciary battle. Ok Damien help rebuild Courtney's confidence but at the end the divorce is quite simply resolved by her lawyer and we as readers have no idea of what is going on in the media (if any) while she is in her bubble in Colorado.
Was there a little too much unnecessary steam in this book ? Probably but who can complain about that ?
I would have prefered it to be on a longer temporality (it seems a little quick to be ditched by her husband, divorce and find the love of her life in a 8 weeks time - even for a movie star ;) )
The weed brownie made me cringe... Damien was so against drugs the very first morning when they met, I just can't believe it.
Thank to Netgalley and Indigo Group for providing an eARC in exchange of a honest review.
Had a hard time connecting/sympathizing with the main characters. It also felt slow at the beginning so that might be why it was hard to get into.
I found Melanie Summers through her funny, literally LOL, Rom-Coms. In A Hollywood Ending, Melanie takes her fantastic writing skills and turns the spice up several notches.
Courtney's Hollywood career is going up in flames when her Hollywood husband cheats on her and plans to end her career. Courtney's handlers pawn her off on Damien, someone hired to provide her some security. What she gets instead is a life overhaul, a self help retreat so to speak.
This book is all about girl power and I absolutely loved how feminine positive it was. I loved watching Courtney turn from victim into warrior, and that a sexy macho ex military man was her cheerleader.
It's a steamy read, just a few sex scenes, but the doors are open that the heat is sweltering. Grab your ice water and buckle up.
Forced proximity romance? Sign me up! This was a fun, semi-spicy romance that had me wanting to read more. I loved the strength the FMC found within herself. I also loved the supportive MMC, you could tell that he was rooting for her even if they didn’t have a future together. I loved the angst and tension but also their playfulness.
The author did an amazing job telling this story and I’d love to read more of her books in the future. The only thing I would change would be to make it first person. I loved the characters, I loved the plot, and now I love the author.
Thank you to NetGalley and Xpresso Book Tours for sending me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I love reading about “forbidden” or “frowned upon relationships” this book was funny and entertaining. The author did an amazing job at keeping the book filled with great moments and give a bad ass FMC
I received this book as an ARC from Xpresso Book Tours through NetGalley and this review is based on my own opinion.
Hollywood star Courtney had everything; fame, fortune and a famous Hollywood husband. But when he cheats on her with a younger actress, Courtneys world falls apart.
When her management team leaves her behind after her breakdown, she ends up in a cabin in Aspen with her hot bodyguard Damien.
A Hollywood Ending is a slow burn romance story in the beginning, but in the chapters after the main characters finally get together there was quite some rushed smut, which felt a bit too much all at once.
The story is mainly about Courtney and Damien living in his cabin in Aspen and just a little about Courtneys divorce. For me there could have been a bit more about the divorce and how it turned out with her ex husband and old management team after the settlement.
The ending and epilogue felt a little rushed but apart from all that I liked the rest of the book, therefore I gave it 3 out of 5 stars.
This was such an easy and fun book to spend an afternoon reading.
Courtney is a resilient, down-to-earth character and Damien is everything you expect from a former military man come boot camp life coach.
There's banter, spice, girl power, and a HEA.
Will definitely be checking out other books by this author.
I received a copy via NetGalley and all opinions are my own.
A Hollywood Ending by Melanie Summers
4/5 stars
Expectations: Famous actress falls for her handsome bodyguard after dumping her famous actor BF. Learns how much fun it is to be a "normie." Expecting some strong spice
Reality: Opposites attract, beautiful Colorado setting, strong female main character, strong independent warrior queen woman vibes. And SPICE. *heart eyes emoji* *jalapeño emoji*
Overall, I enjoyed this book so much more than I was expecting! Damien and Courtney were delightful and had you rooting for them the entire way. A good read if you want something to make you feel powerful, sexy, happy, and cozy.

A celebrity romance based in the Colorado mountains? Say no more! I love a celeb romance that is a clear nod to a real couple (ahem, Brad and Jen). This book had so many elements I like but I struggled with both the writing style and pacing - the clean bow at the end was sweet but hard to believe. A fun, spicy read nonetheless. this book is out now! Thanks to Netgallety for the ARC in exchange for an honest review
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I enjoyed a lot of this story. Watching Damien and Courtney getting to know each other, was very enjoyable. They were good people who wanted the most out of life.
It was easy to dislike the villains in this piece.
I suppose I wasn't a huge fan of that last reason why Damien and Courtney argued. The time they spent apart seemed a bit much, for someone who supposedly loved her.
3.5 stars
I would like to thank Melanie Summers, Indigo Group, and NetGalley for granting me and ARC of A Hollywood Ending.
Unfortunately, I do not feel that I am in the target audience for this book. The story was very fast paced, and the FMC and MMC began their relationship very very quickly into the story. It was off putting to me that the FMC was so quick to lust after her security guard after what occurred within her previous relationship. It felt i genuine and forced in my opinion.
A lot of readers are not a fan of the third person POV, and I think this book is a decent example as to why, given that the third person POV made it difficult to feel connected to any of the characters and left me without an emotional pull towards what occurred in the book or towards the characters.
If you’re looking for a quick, smutty romance, or if you enjoy the “one of them is famous” trope, this might be worth picking up. Unfortunately “A Hollywood Ending” didn’t quite give me the feeling I look for from the “one of them is famous” trope due to how quickly the romance progressed but they may not be the same for all readers.
This was a little different than what I expected.
I expected a slow burn, forbidden romance with a little a agnst, but all I got was a fast paced, insta love book. Which is definitely that my cup of tea but overall the writing was easy and fast paced, the characters were likable.

Special thanks to @netgalley , the publisher Indigo Group, and the author for this advanced copy in exchange for my honest review!
Overall, I mostly liked this. It delivered on the bodyguard, opposites attract, forced proximity aspect.
Things I struggled with: her ex is very much abusive on page (verbally) as are other staff so first of all trigger warning for that but also their history didn’t quite add up to me after that reveal. I couldn’t really make heads or tails of a 12 year relationship where he felt neutral about her for the bulk of it turning into such heinous behavior and actions for not really a real reason. It was jarring. I also struggled in that the blurb specifically said this would be spicy but it’s a slowwww burn and yet also a two second insta love when it does happen. I did also feel some sexist undertones with the mmc that were never challenged (women referred to as vulnerable and delicate even when fmc proves herself over and over).
So at the end of the day I’d give a 3 stars. Thank you to indigo for the ARC.
I was immediately swept into Courtney Bennett's tumultuous life as a Hollywood icon grappling with heartbreak caused by her husband's betrayal. Damien Young, her striking bodyguard, joined her on this emotional rollercoaster as they sought solace in a secluded Colorado cabin. Courtney's journey of self-discovery and resilience struck a chord, making her transformation all the more inspiring as she pieced her shattered world. Damien's steadfast support and genuine concern for her well-being added a layer of depth to their blossoming romance. Amidst the glitz and scandal of Hollywood, their evolving relationship was portrayed with a perfect balance of passion and emotional authenticity. While the narrative held my attention with engaging prose, I craved a deeper dive into Damien's inner world.
This is a quick celebrity/bodyguard romance. I enjoyed both the romance (yay dual POV) and where the author took the rest of the story and both characters' journeys. Definitely a cute one if you like either of these tropes.
