Another 5 star twisty psychological thriller by L.G. Davis!! I loved reading Christa's story and I'm sad it's over. I never saw that plot twist coming! Eagerly awaiting whatever LG has in the works next!

This is the second in L. G. Davis' ‘The Lies We Tell Series’. When I finished reading "The New Nanny" my comments were
This story turned out so much better than expected. It truly was a page turner!
The ending left me wanting to read more from Liz Davis! In fact, I immediately put "The Nanny’s Child]"
Book #2 in ‘The Lies we Tell series on my TBR list!
If you read “The New Nanny” you know Christa is looking for her teenage son who was taken from her at birth when she was a teenager. She was told her baby died. She later discovered he was adopted. She finds a family who has a teenage son Wyatt she believes is her son – however that was not the case.
This story picks up approximately six months after baby Heather is born. Also reveals a lot about Christa’s past- we find out that Christa was living in a commune when she gave birth and yes her baby was taken from her.
She continues to search for her son and follows an anonymous tip to Kentucky as the note states “What you are looking for is here. She is able to secure a nanny position with Troy and Harper Wells who have nine year old twin daughters. She has been a live-in nanny before but never had her own private cottage which will allow her to care for her infant daughter..
It turns out that Mr. Wells is someone she knows.
There is a lot more in this story than in the first one so I don’t wants to give it away.
I did love “A Letter From L.G. Davis’ where Liz the author tells us that it was a joy to continue Christa’s story and help her find closure as well as find peace in her chaotic life !
.I have to admit I was hoping for “The Lies We Tell #3

Great sequel to the first book! So many secrets got revealed, it seems like the story got very nicely wrapped up. I liked the twist and the flow of the story. Very enjoyable!
Wow, what a great follow up read In The Lies We Tell series. Book #2 finds Christa and her infant daughter, Heather, have returned from Austria and have settled back in her hometown in Kentucky. She quickly gets another nanny job working for Troy and Harper Wilson taking care of their twin daughters, Ella and Leah. Troy is a busy physician, Harper is a philanthropist and add a very snoopy neighbor into the mix which makes this an extyremely interesting read with lots of twist, turns and surprises.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC of this page-turner which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for an early copy of The Nanny’s Child. Well this wrapped up the series nicely. I enjoyed how it all ended. Very good sequel to The New Nanny. I actually liked this one better and that’s unusual for a sequel. Can’t wait for another new series to come out and I hope it’s back to back like this one.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The synopsis: Crista, from The New Nanny, returns for a new adventure. This time Crista is the nanny for beautiful Harper, her husband Troy, and beautiful twin girls. But, of course, all it not what it seems, and the perfect family is anything but. Crista hides her own secrets, as the truth about the perfect family slowly unfolds.
My thoughts: This was a great sequel to The New Nanny. There were several story lines and mysteries going on at one time. It was very engaging, with twists and turns throughout. I hope there is a third book in the Nanny series. I would definitely read it. Thoroughly enjoyed another book from L.G. Davis. Look forward to reading more of her work!
4 stars!
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for a chance to read this ACR of this book. It's another fast-paced story that picked up where The New Nanny left off. It was filled with twists and turns. A mysterious note brings Christa to a new home where she believes she'll find her son who has been missing from her life for 15 years. Along with her new baby she sets out to find the truth of what happened of the events of her time in a cult only to become a murder suspect and endure a near drowning. The book tied up all the loose ends and had a satisfying ending. I especially liked that there are short chapters, and no time jumps and good intensity. Hard to put down . It was a wonderful follow-up to a good 2 part story. I will recommend the book.
The sequel to The New Nanny picks up where the other one left off. Christa has returned from Austria and is now a nanny for a new family. She now has a daughter of her own and is desperate to find out where her son is. Cults, affairs, murder - this book is wild.
Like the first book, I thought this was just okay. Some parts were a little cheesy, some parts dragged, and at times it was hard to believe people would act like this. It was nice to have the story wrapped up but I think maybe this author isn’t for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.
3.5/5 ⭐️
This book is a good sequel to her first- The New Nanny. I think the author did a great job of including some of the story line of the first book into the second. At one point I said “all of the characters in this book are crazy!”
This book follows the nanny Crista- in her life after her living in Austria. She has had her baby girl and receives an anonymous letter saying that she will find answers here- and includes a name and address. She begins nannying for this married couple and their twin daughters. The big question- what is her connection to them and what answers will it give? This book includes Wyatt’s surprise return, a nosy codependent neighbor, secrets hidden in marriage, and more info on Cristas upbringing- which includes her being in a cult!
I thought that the big “shocks” were a little obvious (if you read a lot of mystery/thrillers) but I was glad to have some closure to some of my questions from the first book. I think the author again does a great job of describing the characters in a way in which you feel like you really know them.
So, this is book 2 in The Lies We Tell series and holy heck, what a wild ride! This book is full of suspense and kept me wanting more. I became overly consumed with this story! More of the characters back stories were revealed and gave us a better picture of what lead them to their current situations. The many secrets, the obsessive behaviors, and the twists will have you loving this book! There were a couple of times I was scared and anxious for the character(s)! When an author can make you feel things like that, you know they have a special kind of talent.
As I've said before L. G. Davis is an extraordinary writer! Can't wait for her next one!
I thought book one was good so is book 2 a very addictive read. Christa will do anything to find her son.so she takes the job as a nanny. Two twin girls. the father is the man she has been looking for but as she is watching them someone is watching her. so very fast paced. This authors writing will keep you wanting more. And i cried at end so recommend.
The second in a series, this story did not disappoint. Christa has had quite a journey in the previous book, and here we see her move on to try to get answers to questions from her past. This book had several twists and a shocking ending. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
This is definitely one of my greatest reads of this year. If you are planning to read this book, do not even see the blurb. Just go blind into it. Trust me you gotta thank me later.
I was very surprised to find out who the killer was.there were alot of times that made me gasped for air. Specifically chapter thirty three, Christa's past and chess board scene ✨
Christa is still obsessed in looking for her son who she thinks was taken away from her at birth. We soon find out what exactly happened.
The book delves deep into the complex emotions experienced by the main characters.
Author L.G.Davis's writing style is engaging and fast-paced, keeping readers captivated from the very beginning. Her use of dark exploration of complex themes such as grief, loss and obsession adds an intriguing layer to the story.
Excellent! Another fabulous book by L.G. Davis! Christa returns from The New Nanny with another crazy, thrilling, heart pounding ordeal. Who can she trust? There’s a career driven doctor, a philanthropist wife, a nosy and intrusive neighbor, an emotionally troubled teenager, adorable children, a nanny with an extremely distressing past and more! It seems many have secrets, so who can be counted on? I could not put this book down, and I’m excited for others to read it too. If you haven’t read The New Nanny yet, I suggest you read that first as some characters reappear - it’s also a fantastic read. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the eARC.
Synopsis (from Netgalley, the provider of the book for me to review.)
*********************************************************
I’ve always had the urge to look after other people’s children. To pour care and love into their lives, because I know what happens when you don’t. There are terrible people out there, who have been neglected and hurt and want to see the world burn. You don’t want people like that in your home…
I look up at the beautiful woman with perfectly painted red lipstick standing on the front steps of her grand Victorian house. Harper already trusts me to take care of her two little girls: believes the lies I’ve told her about where I come from and how many other mothers have welcomed me into their homes. Then I see the familiar form of her husband. My ex. The man who knows where my own missing baby boy is.
I know Troy will never admit to knowing who I really am. Not after what he did to me. But I still expect to see shock and recognition in his cool blue eyes when he meets me: the woman his wife has employed to care for their children. But he simply smiles. He welcomes me into his home.
I’m determined to get the truth out of Troy. But soon I realize I made a terrible mistake in coming here. Someone has been in my room. And the gun I hid under my mattress is missing. Troy thinks he can scare me away. But if he won’t tell me where my son is, he has no idea how far I’ll go to get revenge…
This is the second of two books that come out the same day in the series The Lies We Tell and it will make you question exactly who you have looking after your children! (Or whose children you are caring for!) Troy is quite the character (I am being nice: there are many words that I wish to use to describe him that would be inappropriate to name here) and our nanny, Christa, from the first book, continues to be duplicitous and you really wondered what happened back in Kentucky…. oops spoiler. And with Wyatt's return, one wonders what insanity will happen next.
Christa is definitely not Mary Poppins and Wyatt is not a Banks. Perfect for fans of thriller books, I will recommend this and its prequel to my patrons without reservation. PLEASE WRITE A THIRD, FOURTH, FIFTH…..ETC. book!
… I look forward to going back and reading the authors. Previous novels via Kindle Unlimited. You should too.

This book delivers time and time again. Love everything about this book and how it ended. Such a thrilling and exciting read.
I really enjoyed this fast paced thriller. Crista finally gets the answers she’s been searching for and we get to learn more of her background. There was some confusion when Harper tells us her father left her as a child and made a new family for himself and her mother is dead, yet Troy tells us the twins are staying with Harper’s parents. Overall a captivating, easy read with a nicely tied up ending.
A fantastic fast paced and enjoyably sinister read. A nanny starts a new assignment looking after seven year old twin girls but the nanny has a very complicated past with many secrets and there is a reason she has secured this job. On the surface her employers seem perfect, maybe too perfect, plus they’re happy to accept her into their home, being overly accommodating to her and her baby girl.
The neighbourhood seems safe and friendly although there is at least one rather curtain twitching one who is far too interested.
This is a great plot where past secrets slowly add up to an explosive crescendo ending. It was very easy to read and compelling. The sub storylines surrounding the characters’ past lives was very engaging, especially regarding the commune. A definite recommend from me.
This was the first book of LG Davis' that I have read. I am now adding her to my list of favorite authors. This book was full of realty but at the same time kept you on the edge of your seat. Just when you think you know all of the characters rolls in the storyline, it throws you for a loop. I'm ready for book 3.
