Shadow Angel by D.K. Hood is the second in the FBI Special Agent Beth Katz series.

First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Bookouture and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Series Background: (Warning – May contain spoilers from previous books)
It was Beth Katz’s serial killer father who made her who she is: a successful FBI agent and an unstoppable vigilante dedicated to hunting down murderers who have evaded capture. Beth, often using her "Tarot Killer" persona, will often take matters into her own hands.  She has recently been assigned to the small town of Rattlesnake Creek to work with fellow FBI Agent Dax Styles.  She's still not sure that having a partner is going to work.

My Synopsis:    (No major reveals, but if concerned, skip to My Opinions)
Beth and Dax are trying to find a sadistic killer who is targeting exotic dancers.  They find Cassie Durham's dead body in an abandoned cabin, her face heavy with makeup, and her body sewn to a couch.  She will not be the last woman to be found this way, and she probably wasn't the first.  Beth plans on going undercover to find this man, but she will have back-up.

Meanwhile, Beth, in her vigilante personae, is hot on the trail of another serial killer who is raping women, and leaving them in various places, covered in brush.  She is determined that this one will not survive...and in this case she will be very much alone.

My Opinions:
I am really enjoying this new series.  I really like Beth, although I felt her attitude towards Ryder was a little condescending.  I'm still not happy that the characters in this series have to rely on help from Hood's Kane and Alton books, but at least they are still being kept at a distance. Dax is a great partner for Beth, and in this book we have learned more about both of them.

As always, the writing is superb, and the plot great.  It was another fast and thrilling read.

This new series continues to show promise!

So I am a huge fan of Hoods Black Rock Series so was reeling when I saw that a new series was in the offering and I am invested!

I read book one and two in one go and WOW I devoured them, Beth is a dark, twisted character an FBI vigilante with her own style of justice.

Some familiar characters appeared in this series and I remember the Tarot Killer popped up in Black Rock too!

I'm excited to see the development of this series

Shadow Angel (Detective Beth Katz Book 2) by D.K. Hood

Shadow Angel is the second book in the new Detective Beth Katz series by D.K. Hood and I absolutely loved it! There was so much to love about this book...the characters, the storyline, the crime solving, the character backstories, just everything! I think I loved this one more than the first book!!!

This is one of those books that I just devoured. I read it all in one day because I was so invested. I needed to know how things were going to work out.

I found Beth to be absolutely captivating! What an amazing angle to bring to the FBI world! I can't wait to see what's to come. I need the next book to be published! I wasn't ready for this one to be over!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Big thanks to both Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an early copy of Shadow Angel, by D.K. Hood. This is the second book in the Detective Beth Katz Series.

Everyone's favorite vigilante, FBI Special Agent Beth Katz is back, kicking butt and taking names! When a woman vanishes from a night out, Beth is convinced a twisted killer is in town. She knows how their minds work since she's had first-hand experience. Her own father was a serial killer.

I liked this book even better than the first one. It was fun peeking a bit more into the lives of Beth and her maverick partner Dax Styles. I loved the ending of Shadow Angel and I can't WAIT to read the next book!!

After speeding through book one, I started on book 2, I couldn't wait to continue Beth's story. I find the concept that she's a psychopathic murdering FBI agent so fascinating I can't wait to see how this all plays out. It's intense and suspenseful all at the same time. What's great is like the first installment their are two cases running through the story. I was easily hooked with both the murders!
There's a phrase used by this killer 'my darlings' omg I don't think I can say darling again without thinking of murdered women with clown makeup!

It was great reading how the relationship between Beth and Dax is growing throughout their working relationship. Plus, we get continual visits from Wolf, Colt, and Emily plus agents Jo and Carter! It was great reading from Beth's POV her fear that behavioural analysis Jo Wells will be able to see she's a psychopath. I honestly love this agent psychopath I honestly love for this!!!

Returning to Montana, Beth Katz has a new investigation. Her cybercrime skills find a link that gives her the opportunity to work undercover and catch a killer, hopefully with her own Tarot Killer sense of justice.

This immediate sequel to Dark Angel is just as brilliant and entertaining. Again, I found myself rooting for Katz and Styles, while hoping this time she could use her brand of justice to save others. The growing respect she and Styles share shows real character development, while the story with its surprises along the way kept me on my toes.

Overall, this is a worthy sequel to Dark Angel. I recommend this to any reader as part of the series, and cant wait to see what the author does with Katz and Styles next. I gave Shadow Angel, by D. K. Hood, five stars.

There is another killer on the loose and Beth wants to get to them first, putting herself as bate to lure them in she goes undercover, but who is the real danger?

The second book in the series and I think this was better than the first.

Hood gives us a fast-paced read, darker than the first, but more depth and background to our two characters; Hood give us a fantastic narrative that you cant put down and will easily read in one sitting. This series is one to watchout for and I look forward to book 3.

The first book in this series was absolutely brilliant, Shadow Angel in my eyes is even better! I was lucky enough to read both books back to back, so now have the agonising wait for book three to be released.

It was great to be back in the 'safe' hands of Beth Katz and her sidekick Dax ready to solve another gritty crime. And to find out what delights her alter ego 'Tarot Killer' had in store for us.

Shadow Angel is another fast paced belter that draws you deep into the dark depths of psychopathy. This one does come with some rather graphic scenes which some may find unsettling, but adds to the credibility of the story

I love this new team of Detectives Beth Katz and Dax Styles that D.K Hood has created.

They’re back with a new serial killer to bring down. A serial killer who has a very weird set-up, which only becomes more strange as you read further. As with the first book, I was hooked. I wanted to finish it to discover whether weirdo got his comeuppance, but I also didn’t want it to end.

Beth doesn’t like these bad guys in the world and sometimes both she and Styles go rogue and go a little off-piste to remove them from society, but this is what makes both of them such interesting characters. I’d definitely want her on my side in a fight!

I’m hoping I don’t have to wait too long for the next book, but in the meantime, check those trigger warnings and get yourself off to the bookshop.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read Shadow Angel by D.K. Hood.

Shadow Angel, book two in the Special Agent Beth Katz series, takes readers on another journey in a world of serial killers. This time around, Beth and Dax faces the task of stopping a killer who targets exotic dancers.

After my experience with Dark Angel, I went into Shadow Angel expecting a thrilling read, and it did not disappoint.  From start to finish, the story kept me on the edge of my seat with its fascinating plot, shocking twists and interesting characters.

This instalment provided additional details about Beth, which aids readers in understanding what drove in becoming the person she is now. Despite the illegality of her actions, one cannot help but get behind what she'e doing. Her ability to blend into a specific scenario made her a great agent. This ability also helped her to maintain her vigilante persona without her colleagues being the wiser. The way she is able to blend into both worlds amazes me. As the Tarot killer, she works to find her next victim, while working with Dax to stop the villain behind the killing of exotic dancers.

Dax and Beth's interactions have become more mellow. It was fun seeing them joking and sharing some aspects of their past with each other.

The mystery unfolded well.  The tension, action and danger made for a compelling, page turning read. Like the previous book, prepare for a one sitting read. One will find it difficult to put this book down. With tension high from the start, Shadow Angel is as good or even better than Dark Angel. Now I am eager to see who is Beth's next victim and if she can continue straddling the world of FBI and killer without getting caught.

"Shadow Angel" by D.K. Hood, the second gripping installment in the Detective Beth Katz series, is an absolutely addictive and nail-biting crime thriller. Having been captivated by the first book, "Dark Angel," I delved into this sequel and found it to be both intriguing and enticing, impossible to set aside.
FBI agent Beth Katz, known for her relentless pursuit of serial killers, partners with the enigmatic Dax Styles to investigate a chilling case involving missing women and disturbing crime scenes. The author skillfully crafts an enthralling narrative, showcasing Beth's complex persona and her dark past, providing a compelling layer to the story. The chemistry between Beth and Dax, coupled with the tension and danger they face during the undercover operation, adds a thrilling dimension to the tale.
The storytelling is top-notch, with well-paced suspense and engaging investigative work that kept me on the edge of my seat. "Shadow Angel" offers deeper insights into the characters' personal lives, unveiling more twists and secrets. A one-sitting read, this book is a must for lovers of police procedural thrillers, promising an enthralling journey into the world of crime and justice.

An excellent installment in the series which also works as a stand alone.
Loved the setting, characters and the plot which gently (but also quite horrifically in some stages!) guides the reader to an explosive conclusion.
Loved it.

I am so excited about this new series. The different character twist of having an agent being both FBI and a vigilante serial killer herself adds such a different perspective that i have not read in a vook or series before.

I found myself in book 2, nit able to put the book down and trying to figure out the current mystery but also trying to see what decisions Beth will make with regards to her own inner demons that want to rise. The character development between Beth and her partner are also intriguing as to what will happen in the coming future.

I cant wait for the next book to come out.

Thank you to D.K Hood, Bookouture and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Goodness I nearly missed my train stop, I was so engrossed in this story. It was more of a slow burn to the action but learning more about the characters was just as good as book 1. Beth is FBI, her past has made her what she is. A vigilante that doesn't go by the books, sometime a criminal is caught the right way and other times the law fails. There were two serial killers' stories in this novel, both sick in their own ways. Especially the main story, I didn't even try to guess who the killer was, I just enjoyed the ride. A couple of scenes my heart was racing and I had to back track and reread as I read too fast in desperation to see whodunnit.
Fantastic series, I can't wait for more.

"How does the Tarot Killer see what we don't...how the heck is he taking out serial killers...without anyone catching him?"

You can't help smiling knowing that the Tarot Killer is standing next to Agent Styles when he makes this statement in Book 2 of the Special Agent Beth Katz series, Shadow Agent, by renowned thriller author D K. Hood.

Beth is undercover as a pole dancer to catch a serial killer of "working girls." Much like the phenomenal Dexter series, Beth believes she's only "taking out the trash," when she rids the world of these murderers.

This writer effortlessly makes the tension of catching the killer as gripping as Beth not getting caught. Also, it never occurs to Styles that the Tarot Killer is a "she."

I received a free copy of this book from #bookouture via #NetGalley for fair and honest reviews. All opinions are my own.

Sometimes, a great new series comes along. Almost never the first two books in a great new series are published together! Well! This, my friends, is almost never! Book 2 in the Detective Beth Katz series is here, and I have had the honour of reading it.

I found Dark Angel a great start to getting to know Beth Katz and wondered what Shadow Angel had in store for our dynamic duo, Beth and Dax. I also wanted to carry on getting to know Beth.

This book is easily read as a standalone as the author briefly goes over Beth Katz's background. Her dad was a serial killer, and he murdered Beth's mum too. Beth is a woman who will go to any lengths to make sure serial killers are dealt with. She doesn't stick to the letter of the law either.

Shadow Angel sees Beth Katz going undercover as a pole dancer after two pole dancers go missing. All I will say is, omg! I definitely had my heart in my mouth and blood pressure going upwards! It's a belter of a read.

Again, the storyline never falters, and I was glued to my Kindle. I do enjoy being witness to a partnership that is growing and gelling well. I am definitely addicted to this series. The strength of the characters, who aren't exactly run of the mill. They bring a sense of uniqueness to this particular series. Beth is so interesting, with her views and speciality sideline too!

It's a series that looks like it will go from strength to strength, and I'm one invested blogger. Now, when's that next book out!! Yet another highly recommended book to this series.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the gifted ebook to write my honest review.
