This book was another amazing historical fiction story written by Lynn Austin. I truly enjoyed each of the stories of the three generations of women who were challenged by their wealth and society status. I love Christian fiction, but absolutely love this genre when the author provides real-life challenges for their story characters to face and overcome. As always, with Lynn Austin, she interweaves historical events so well into her writing. The character's lives and history were seamlessly melded together. A historical fiction reader will love this book featuring ladies living in the Gilded Age who enjoyed "summering" in Newport, Rhode Island. I highly recommend this book.

A generational saga that follows three women with very different stories that lead them to the same conclusion: God is within her and she will not fail.

Each of the three main characters shares their story. The modern timeline follows
Adelaide and her pursuit for a suitor at the bequest of her mother, Sylvia. However, her grandmother Junietta is radically against marrying to simply retain wealth and would rather see Addy forge her own path. Caught in the middle, Addy must listen to each of their stories to understand their motives and learn their secrets.
The past timelines were my favorite. The layers of truth slowly unfolding to a glorious picture of each woman and their beliefs.
The modern timeline was a bit slow which is what kept me from a five star rating, but this was still another lovely read by a favorite author.

Lynn Austin's All My Secrets weaves a beautiful tale of three generations of strong women. When their lives change at the death of A.B. Stanhope III (the son of Junietta, husband of Sylvia, and father of Adelaide), the women are faced with how to survive in a man-driven world. As the story develops, the past of Junietta and Sylvia is revealed, showing how decisions and mistakes shaped their present lives and the situations they are in. Mama Junie and Sylvia set out to protect Addy from the life they had. Will Addy learn from their mistakes and wisdom, or follow the same path?

Such a gut-wrenching, powerful story of faith, love, and strength in the face of adversity. A copy was provided for my review, but all opinions are my own.

"All My Secrets" is a Christian historical set in 1898 in New York. It's about the legacy we leave behind and how our actions affect future generations. As the oldest, Junietta's story unfolded first as she told Sylvia and Addy about her first love. He's an impoverished immigrant who headed off to make it rich in the gold fields of California so he could give Junietta the lifestyle to which she's accustomed. She's forced into marriage with Art, the son of an evil, scheming man who set his sons against each other. Her marriage wasn't a love match, and she wants that for Addy along with a sense of purpose that she's found in supporting charities for widows, orphans, and the poor.

Sylvia then told how she married Junietta's son to regain the wealth of her childhood only to fall in love with him. She's determined to find a wealthy husband for Addy so that they both can continue the lifestyle they're used to. Addy likes social events and can't imagine giving up her home (even if it costs too much to maintain), but the men willing to court her aren't ones she can see spending her life with. Decisions, decisions for everyone.

The characters were complex, realistic people, and I cared about them. Historical details about what life was like were woven into story, and some major historical events affected the women's lives. Junietta received God's forgiveness for her sins and, out of gratitude, reached out to help others. There were no sex scenes or bad language. Overall, I'd highly recommend this well-written historical.

The title of this book sounds like it could be a soap opera, but it isn't. This is a book about three generations of women who have made their mistakes, lived under the oppression of their husbands, and overcome the hardships thrown at them.

Junietta is the matriarch of the story, but I don't think that title really fits her. Her father-in-law, Arthur Benton Stanhope II, was a ruthless businessman with no scruples. He would bulldoze his way to get what he wanted and what he wanted most was money and social standing. Junie is blackmailed into marrying Arthur's son, Art. Theirs was not a happy marriage but it was for the most part a peaceable one. She was able to

Sylvia married Junie's son, A.B., and allowed him to stifle her true nature to become a society maven. She is an artist at heart, but she learns to do what other society mavens do: raise money for charitable ventures, host lavish parties and galas, and look good on her husband's arm.

Adelaide is Sylvia's and A.B.'s daughter and she is being put on the marriage market to find a husband to help keep their standard of living. The book opens with A.B.'s sudden death and the reading of his will, where the business goes to his cousin, but the house (read: mansion) remains with his wife and daughter. Sylvia tries matchmaking with several unsuitable men who are lechers at best, and drunks at worst. Addy is willing to put herself on the auction block for the family, but she wants a modicum of control over her life.

Each of the women disclose secrets they've held for a long time, and as the secrets unfold, the reader gets drawn further and further into the story. Lynn Austin has such a way with her writing that pulls readers into her narratives and keeps them engaged until the very end. There are very few books Lynn has written that I haven't read and all of them keep me enthralled. I love the way that Lynn brought out the pointlessness of chasing after money and status when it really does no good, and in many cases wreaks havoc on the families of those who do pursue money above all else.

Her characters are revealed as they reveal their secrets and there is a depth to them that makes most of them truly likable and the ones that aren't likable deserve their reputations. The settings only add to the ambience of the story and strengthen it. I LOVED THIS BOOK! Five Stars, Two Thumbs Up, and a passion to drive your life.

Lynn Austin’s latest book, All My Secrets, is set during the Gilded Age in New York. This multigeneration novel contain 3 generations of women—Junietta the grandmother, Sylvia the daughter-in-law, and Adelaide (Addy) the granddaughter/daughter. These three women are part of the wealthy and privileged Stanhope family. After Addy’s father (Sylvia’s husband and Junietta’s son) dies suddenly, the three women are left with little but the mansion to keep running. Sylvia wants Addy to find a wealthy suitor so they can keep up appearances with their social class and the wealth they are accustomed to. Junietta sees the loss of material comfort as a chance for Addy to choose her own path in life and seek God’s will for her. Junietta wants her granddaughter to have a chance to marry for love. Junietta shares her past secrets along with her mistakes and regrets to show Addy that one can learn from past mistakes and be forgiven by God. Sylvia also opens up and shares her past story along with the bitterness and loss she experienced. I loved Austin’s characters. They are dynamic and inspirational. All three women grow and learn to use their God given gifts to love and serve God and others. Austin’s books always have a strong Christian message. In All My Secrets it is the theme of God’s forgiveness and learning to let go and move forward. My thanks to Tyndale House and NetGalley for the advanced copy of this e-book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Lynn Austin is a master storyteller. In All My Secrets, she take us to the gilded age where three generations of the Stanhope women are facing the loss of family and fortune. Sylvia, the widow and mother, wants to launch Adelaide into society as soon as possible so she can marry a rich man. Junietta, the grandmother, wants more for her granddaughter than a loveless society marriage. Both of these women must face the choices they made before Addy can have a chance of choosing her own path. It's is interesting to see the older women confront their past and grow as a result.

This was a wonderful read! Lynn Austin is an author on my "If she writes it, I'll read it" list. All My Secrets does not disappoint.

What a gift this book is, it's one of those reads that gives a warm hug as you turn the pages. For me I wanted answers, and kept reading, but I didn't want All My Secrets to end.

This is a beautifully written Christian read, and shows the we are all human and sinners.

One man is responsible for basically what happens to many lives here, a rich powerful man, but this is the story of three woman, Mother-In-Law Junietta, Daughter-In-Law Sylvia, and Granddaughter Adelaide or Addy, all Stanhopes.

These woman are blindsided by the Will of the ruthless husband of Junietta, but we are there and learn a great deal about what is important to each of these strong women, actually strengths they did know they had. As these secrets unfold, I felt the blessings that each bring to the story.

This is one of the best books I've read this year!

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Tyndale House, and was not required to give a positive review.

"All My Secrets" by Lynn Austin is a christian novel, set during the gilded age, which follows three generation of women and their journey after the only male heir in their family died, leaving them near poverty. As the story unfolds, each woman starts to rethink what is truly valuable in their life and what they can do to leave a lasting legacy.

This was a very well written novel, with three different perspectives from three very distinct characters that kept me engaged. The author did a wonderful job in describing the mansions and settings, bringing them all to life. Some things I loved were the character development of the three women and the stories they told of their past, and how that molded them into who they were in present time. The faith of the three women was a very big element in the story, tying into their development as characters, which I loved reading about. This is the first time I have read a book set in the Gilded Age time period in New York, and unfortunately I didn't enjoy it that much. Overall, it was an enjoyable read that I'd recommend to readers who like historical fiction with elements of faith and family dynamics.

I would like to thank Tyndale House Publishers and NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book. The opinions stated above are entirely my own.

I love how in ALL MY SECRETS Lynn Austin brings the Gilded Age to life. The historical details are outstanding without getting in the way of the fantastic story. I also admired how she includes the stories of women from three different generations: Juniette Stanhope; Sylvia Stanhope; and Adelaide Stanhope. Each is relatable and has a story arc of her own. The way these women grieve together is very realistic. I liked hearing about the various choices (some surprising!) that they made in their pasts. This is a really lovely book about bonding that will appeal to fans of inspirational fiction.

I’ve just finished living in this book, and what a delight it was! I can absolutely say without equivocation that Lynn .Austin is one of my favorite authors, and one whose books I automatically purchase for our church library.

This book was her first foray into Gilded Age society and I must say sh3 did it beautifully. I could almost see the mansion in which the Stanhope women resided, and I think the author did a masterful job of wrestling with the tensions present with the grandmother, mother and daughter in the story. And she brought it all to a satisfying conclusion!

Loved this book and can’t wait to recommend it to my book club!

I received this book from the publisher via net galley in exchange for an honest review. Five we’ll-deservedstars!

All My Secrets by Lynn N.Austin. The time is during The Guilded Age. I have read a few books during this time, the wealthy and their mansions but never one like this one. This is the story of three generations of wealthy women who became almost peniless when the male heirs died. My favorite character was the grandmother who was tired of high society. She also set up a huge charity to help the poor. She wants to show her grand daughter the other side of life . Her mother however; wants Addy to marry for money so they can save their mansion and their place in society. How will this predicament end? Read the book to find out. It's published date is 2/06/24. I thank NetGalley for this ARC and I didn't have to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.

After AB Stanhope’s death, his mother Junietta, wife Sylvia, and daughter Adelaide learn what they want out of life. Junietta doesn’t care for the trappings of wealthy and their gaudy mansion. Sylvia is determined that Adelaide marry well and keep the mansion. Wealth is all Adelaide has known; why should she settle for less?
As Junietta and Sylvia share the choices they made in their early years, they grow closer and find new meaning for their lives.
Another brilliant novel from Lynn Austin.

All My Secrets is Lynn Austin’s newest Christian Fiction title. It tells the story of three generations of women during the Gilded Age in New York City. The current patriarch of the family has just passed away without a male heir leaving his wife, widowed mother, and youngest daughter in a predicament. Most of the estate has passed on to his brother’s family, leaving the three ladies with the family’s exorbitant mansion, which they will not be able to sustain the cost of running for long. The burden falls to Adelaide, the youngest and only unmarried daughter, to find a wealthy suitor who will be able to bring his fortune to the family and allow them to continue to reside in the grand estate. Adelaide, however, is being pulled in two different directions by her grandmother, who wishes for her to leave her wealth behind and find true love, and her mother, who has lost everything before in her past and is frantic to keep the mansion and the social status that she has obtained through her marriage. As the story unfolds, the reason behind Adelaide’s mother and grandmother’s encouragement comes to light, and these stories help Adelaide decide what kind of person that she wants to be, and who she will chose to marry.

Having read several of Lynn Austin’s novels, my favorites have always been Eve’s Daughters, and A Proper Pursuit. All My Secrets has the same wonderful feel to it that these two did, and it now ranks right up there at the top of the list. I enjoyed each of the three ladies’ stories and their character development throughout the book. New York City and New Port during the Gilded Age were such a fun setting. I loved the underlying theme of the good that can come from hardship in life.

Thank you to the publisher, NetGalley, and the author for the advance copy of this book. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

All My Secrets by Lynn Austin is a wonderful historical fiction that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I have read several books by Ms. Austin and always have enjoyed her way of crafting characters that have depth, are searching for answers, and are trying to find their way in their own lives. Despite the circumstances and the time difference, she is able to connect us readers to them in ways that a lot of authors cannot.

This book has all of those elements as well as a bit of mystery and romance set at the end of the @9th century in New York. This novel centers around a multi-generational concept revolving around the women within a family and their own struggles, choices, lives, and outcomes. It makes for an enjoyable experience.

4.5/5 stars

Thank you NG and Tyndale House Publishers for this wonderful arc and in return I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion.

I am posting this review to my GR and Bookbub accounts immediately and will post it to my Amazon, Instagram, and B&N accounts upon publication on 2/6/24.

All My Secrets by Lynn Austin is a reminder of the bad results of holding grudges and allowing God’s forgiveness to come into a family and change each individual lives. Three different women joined together by blood, but three different life’s paths make them realize how close and important they are actually to one another. The plot was organized into three different perspectives from each individual woman. Current time of 1898 and back to the past to hear the older women’s stories. A little bit of romance. A little bit of learning about the harsh realities of life outside their cushy wealthy lives. The heroines were defined, unique, yet Austin did a wonderful job at allowing them to change from the characters at the beginning of the book to the end except for the matriarch of the family. She already had the transformation, but she wanted to share it with her daughter-in-law and granddaughter. The story was written well, and the plot captured my attention, and I couldn’t wait to see how the story ended. Overall, All My Secrets by Lynn Austin is a story that will capture the reader’s attention and make them question any slight grudges they may be holding in their lives. I will own a copy of this novel to put in my library.
