"The Alchemist War" by John Seven ventures into the historical fantasy genre with a tale that aims to blend alchemical intrigue with the tumult of wartime. Set against the backdrop of a world on the brink of conflict, the story follows a cast of characters whose fates are intertwined with the mystical and the political machinations of their time.

Seven's ambition is evident in the complex world he crafts, one where the arcane arts are not just whispers of legend but tangible forces that sway the tides of human affairs. The premise of alchemists wielding substantial influence during wartime is an intriguing one, offering a fresh take on the role of magic in historical contexts.

It is a book with grand ideas and a clear respect for the fantasy genre's potential to reimagine history. However, I found the scope somewhat ambitious.
