What is the best way to deal with a heart break when your fiancée dumps you at the alter? Holly Roberts has just the answer. She escapes to the Alps to do the one thing she loves the most - cook. Holly lives a life she deserves with wonderful new friends in a chocolate chalet surrounded by snow mountains, learns to ski, enjoys the cold that she used to hate so much, and starts seeing herself in a different light. Then there is a handsome rich boy who craves her attention and her taste in wine. Descriptions of food and wine are exquisite. I really didn't see that ending coming. Loved it!
Escape to the Swiss Chalet by Carrie Walker is as delicious as the Swiss cheese!
Thanks to the publisher and the author for the eARC.
Real escapism! A thoroughly enjoyable read. After a relationship break up Holly goes off to be a chalet girl. She meets Xavier and Liv and her exacting employers. There follows a bit of a baptism of fire and the complications of new relationships.
A cost comfy read which was very enjoyable.
Cute. It didn’t blow me away but it was a nice story. Some of the Swiss details felt a little forced, but otherwise the story held together. I’d like to have more winter stories like this in different countries.
A book about when life gives you lemons. Learning to deal with the punches. Pick yourself up again and escape somewhere quite where you can recover.

Not a bad story. Holly was a bit annoying in places. George jilts her at the altar. She mopes around at her parents place and then her old boss suggests working in a chalet over the ski season. Not liking the cold she's sceptical but wants to show George she's moved on. I thought this author was going to be a bit like Karen Swan with a lot of product placement name dropping but luckily it wasn't too bad. She meets Liv, Xavier and her employers, french twins. There's a few amusing moments. Luca starts hitting on her and I was surprised she gave him the time of day....Liv pointed out that there were 10 blocks for every girl so there should have been plenty of choice. I was a bit surprised at Xavier's marriage as if that applied to Christina shouldn't Holly have problems as well....seemed a bit strange. This is a new author so I might look out for her work again.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A fabulous read. I absolutely loved the setting and the relationship that formed between the 3 workers. I’m pleased with how it ended but I just wish they came to their senses a little earlier in the book! Hope there’s another novel that follows this. Would love to read about how they get on in Italy
The book takes ages to warm up and get plodding along. We do get to see Holly getting herself back together and exploring life in the Alps. Some wrong choices and idiotic men help the book and there is romance, but hidden e each thé borrowed snowboard trousers and chef uniform.
What a fabulous debut novel, I can easily say I devoured this book and already want to know when Carrie Walkers next book is due out.
A gorgeous wintry novel, that tried to cool me off in the late summer heatwave as I was reading it.
Set in the ski resort of Verbier, winter playground of the rich and famous, we have the story of some of the seasonaires that are working for one particular chalet.
Holly is recovering from recently being jilted not quite at the altar, and has taken the job as a change of pace. She is a promising sous chef and has the makings of a sommelier too.
So this is a book filled with delicious sounding food, expensive fine wines, and life on a gorgeous mountain with someone who has never skied or snowboarded before.
Which leads to some rather amusing scenes. Actually there are plenty of funny moments in this enjoyable rom-com.
Oh and there are sexy men too, and I know who I was rooting for. There are some rather pathetic men too!
Just a joyous wintry read that has left me hoping for a sequel. Utter perfection, all the things I love in a book in one story. Adored it.
Thank you to Aria and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
Who doesn't love a rom-com in book form?
This was an easy read that was sweet with a happy holiday vibe. The book has drama and romance, with comedy thrown in which keeps the book light hearted.
Luca is a typical handsome, rich guy living in the Swiss Alps. When Holly moves to the sand town she feels completely out of place. Will Luca be a typical billionaire with all the arrogance that comes with the territory, or will he be something more?
If you're looking for an easy, sweet, holiday read. This one is for you!
Thank you NetGalley and Aria & Aries for the ARC and the chance to read and review it honestly.

My thoughts:
🌄this is a very sweet and funny romcom with the COZIEST story setting at a dreamy ski chalet! makes me reallyyy want snow and a hot cocoa!
🌄the main female character, Holly, absolutely hates the cold, so when she moves to the Swiss Alps, everyone is shocked. this made for quite the comical feature in my opinion 🙈 like can you even imagine?
🌄i really enjoyed watching the character friendships blossom as i simultaneously was seeking the potential blossoming of relationships as well!
Thank you NetGalley, Aria and Aries, and Carrie Walker (author) for the free review copy. I enjoyed this one and would give it a 3/5 ⭐️. It was sweet and a really easy read. It will be a great one to read while curled up by the fire in the winter!
Escape to the Swiss Chalet by Carrie Walker is a heartwarming debut novel that takes readers on a picturesque journey to the Swiss Alps with Holly Roberts, a woman who despises the cold but seeks solace there after a devastating breakup. The story is richly descriptive, immersing readers in the beauty of Verbier's snowy landscapes and its luxurious chalet culture. While the book offers an intriguing mix of drama and romance, it leans more towards adult fiction, with a slow-burning romance that unfolds in the final chapter. Walker's seamless integration of French and English adds authenticity to the setting, making readers feel like they're right there in Switzerland. Overall, it's a delightful, albeit somewhat slow-paced, Alpine adventure that showcases the author's talent and leaves you eager for more of her work.
I really loved the overall plot of this book, especially the relocation to a Swiss chalet resort after a brutal breakup. I would have loved it even more if the book had. a little bit more atmosphere of Switzerland, and gave me a bit more of the setting, but in general, it was a super fun, light-hearted, and delightful read to get into a winter-y mood.
Life is full of surprises, and Holly's is going pear-shaped.
All is not lost as she heads out to Switzerland. Love is truly in the air in this glistening, festive romance. The story is a magical blend of wine, goodwill and opportunity. I loved reading this book.
A sweet foodie romcom that got me hooked!
Firstly let me just give a shout out to Netgalley and the publisher for sending me an arc, this is my honest review.
When life kicks you in the guts on the day of your wedding but then you get the chance to go live and eat some amazingly good food in a swiss Chalet, you take it!
The love triangle kept me guessing but I was rooting for our man the whole time.
Yep I loved basically everything about this book, I suggest reading with a good glass of wine and a range of cheeses. 🍷🧀🎿📖
Holly Roberts, despite her aversion to cold weather, surprises everyone by deciding to move to the Swiss Alps after experiencing heartbreak. She takes on a job as a sous-chef for the wealthy twins, Genevieve and the charming Luca. Verbier, a haven for millionaires, makes Holly feel like an outsider in its snow-covered wooden chalets. Fortunately, she befriends Liv and Xavier, who help her navigate this world of après-ski and fondue and even teach her how to handle chair lifts. But the enigmatic Luca adds a layer of mystery to the mix, leaving Holly to wonder if there's more to him than meets the eye.
An enchanting winter tale that warms the heart even in the coldest of settings.
A book about what happens after life goes wrong. How impulse decisions can have big life changing consequences. Full of romance and joy and some tears. It’s the perfect curl up with hot cocoa book. I loved it.

I loved all the food porn in this book! I've seen some complaints about it but I thought it was fantastic! It made me very, very hungry.
I liked Holly and her journey but the romance actually was my least favourite part of the story.
This was my first book by Carrie Walker -- which makes sense since it's her debut -- and I would definitely read more of her books in the future. This did NOT feel like a debut novel!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Aria & Aries through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you, Aria & Aries.
A rich confection of romance, glamour and humour. Holly Roberts loathes the cold. But to escape romantic humiliation in London, she leaps into the icy unknown by taking up a last-minute job offer of working as a sous chef for a wealthy brother and sister in their stunning Swiss Alps chalet. Holly’s instantly thrown off balance in every way: struggling to ski and snowboard for the first time, trying to please her rich employers and dealing with more than one attractive admirer with secrets of his own. Can she follow the same advice with skiing and men: to focus on what is in front of her and not behind…
ESCAPE TO THE SWISS CHALET has everything you want in a romantic comedy: a warm funny heroine struggling with fish-out-of-water dilemmas, stunning Alpine settings, freezing plunge pools in the snow, gorgeous smouldering men, sparky dialogue and acres of lusciously described food and drink: a succulent lamb terrine with green apple jelly, trays of delicate lemon and pistachio tarts, and cascades of glossy caramel profiteroles, are all washed down with expensive wines from a padlocked temperature-controlled cellar and comforting mugs of spiced hot chocolate topped with huge dollops of fresh cream.
A hilarious indulgent escapist read.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this ARC!
This was a cute cozy romcom that I enjoyed. Quick easy read. Only issue was I did get a little bored with the food details but that’s more of a me thing and not the book. I recommend.
