This book really is a stitch a day! It's broken down by month with a different kind of stitch so every stitch for that time is a similar style. The book sort of builds on its self through various styles but there's examples of all different stitches throughout the book. There's photos on what each stitch should look like, what projects the stitch is commonly used for, and instructions on making the stich. It's a helpful guide for anyone trying to expand their stitch library!
I'm so excited to try out these stitches! I am a moderate-level crocheter, and I found this book really easy to follow and I think its great for advanced beginners to try. I would definitely recommend having some background knowledge of crochet stitches beforehand, but it is very easy to follow.
A stitch for everyday in the year. WOW! Such a great concept. I’m sure to preferred it to this book each time, I’m in a hunt for a new stitch for my crochet projects.

I have been crocheting for many years now and have fallen in love with the ability to make quilts and other items with the beautiful vibrant colors of yarn. When I saw this book on NG I was intrigued with learning new stitches and having a full year of new options. The fact that the actual colander is a desk flip calendar is even better. Some of the books are big and bulky. I have tried several already and they turned out perfectly….especially the shells. This is good for someone who understands the different stitches and knows how to read them. I am not sure if a newbie would be able to do all of these. However, they would be able to learn very quick. The police eeewq

Thank you to NetGalley as well as the author and publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my unbiased and honest review.
Super into the calendar, one a day, model. First time I've tired one of these. Will definitely recommend.
Thank you to Globe Pequot, Stackpole Books, and NetGalley.
This is a great stitch dictionary!! And I love that it is a stitch a day! My only criticism is that I really wish the names of the stitch patterns were included. It’s really annoying to find a stitch you love and then not know what it’s called. But I also really liked that there are a couple of patterns at the end. I hope there are more of these to come!
I have randomly gone through this calendar and tried several of the crochet stitches. Very easy to follow for someone who has never crocheted or like myself, has not done any crocheting in years. I will definitely recommend this calendar to my older students who may be interested in learning. i can not wait for this in full color!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
"A Year of Crochet Stitches" is a year long daily calendar that has a new crochet stitch for every day of the year. The calendar starts off with easy stitches in January and builds to harder, more complicated stitches by December. This calendar is a really great choice for anyone who loves to crochet or knows someone who loves to crochet and wants to learn new stitches. As an avid crocheter myself, I would find this calendar super helpful and resourceful throughout the year..
A wonderful gift to myself! I spend many hours searching for patterns but Jill Wright has now given me a new pattern every day. Easy to follow patterns with lots of follow up notes will keep me busy this whole year. Loved the calendar and so will several of my friends.
A very cute idea to have 365 consecutive stitches to learn and use in crochet crafting! It would make a great gift along with some hooks and yarn. Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC!
A great way to learn some new stitches and practice some you haven’t done in a while if you’re already a crocheter!
I love this!! It’s a daily calendar with a new stitch ever day. There are so many new stitches that I want to try. I think it would be great to make an afghan with every square a different pattern.
The calendar is also organized into different stitch categories, such as color work and dropped stitches. I think there is something for every crocheter with this calendar
Many thanks to the author and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of the book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
I did not find this book interesting at all. Too many designs with holes / filet designs even the blocks.
Could have had more variety of stitches and textures.
This is a neat idea and would make a good gift for the crochet lover in your life. It would be a fun challenge to work through the new stitches daily. I wish that the stitches were named with an index but multiple stitches can be called different things by different people so in all it probably saved confusion.
The back has lots of “recipes” to put the stitches you learned into practice. It really is more of a recipe than a pattern which will help you grow into designing your own patterns. It reminds me of the way my grandmother approached teaching me skills like crochet and cooking with an open ended approach. Lots of room for creativity with this one.
I think this is a really great book that could be used to create a year long project like a blanket. We will definitely be requesting a copy for the shop. in addition, as somone who is newer to crochet than I am to knitting, I found the instructions clear and easy to follow.
As someone who taught themselves to crochet in Lockdown, it’s now something that I do everyday. So this is perfect. A new stitch a day for 365 days.
This along with a hook and some yarn would make a lovely Christmas gift. 🧶

Well, I had high hopes for this book. It’s such a cool idea- a new stitch for every day of the year. Each page gives you a well done photo of an image of a swatch of the days stitch and then step by step instructions for the stitch. However, none of the day’s stitches are named. So, you may be doing a specific named stitch, but you can’t actually learn it because it’s only use is to create on your own, you can’t apply it to any other patterns you may read or come across. However, if you are simply looking for a lot of new stitch combinations to make new looking items, this definitely provides a great photo and instructions for finding what suits you.
A really handy reference book for crocheters of all abilities. Featuring one style of stitch per day for the whole year, I discovered some nice stitches I was not familiar with. This book is well laid out, the pictures are very clear and the instructions easy to understand. I feel this would be a very useful addition to any crafter's library. Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for the chance to read this advance copy of A year of crochet stitches.
This is a day-at-a-glance calendar that has details of a new crochet stitch each day. I thought this format was excellent and would be ideal for people who enjoy crocheting.
There were several really inventive stitches that I saw. Previewing it on kindle means that all of the photographs are only in black and white - so I would expect the real deal to be much more visually interesting.
Thanks for the opportunity to review.

I loved the creativity of stitches this book shows! A different pattern for every day of the year. You can make them into afghans, scarfs, cowls, pillows, etc. the edgings were great too. I would love to own this book as a reference tool.
