This is a great book to use to learn new stitch patterns and would probably make a great gift for someone who is just taking up knitting. I like that it provides a new pattern for each day and I think this could be a fun way to use up scrap yarn that you have left over from other projects. You could make a whole blanket of one of the stitches do a bunch of granny squares of the various patterns and then sew them together. I'm really excited to try my hand at some of these stitches. I have a few baby blankets I need to make and I think I will try using one of these patterns.
This little gem is wonderful for learning new stitches and expanding your knowledge of knitting through out the year. It would also be a great guide to design a blanket, sweater, scarf or any item with the stitches shown. Many of the stitches are appropriate for new knitters and some would be best for experienced, but there are so many that anyone would not have difficulty making them as swatches or into a project and having plenty to do. I would recommend this book and will likely be buying a hard copy for myself. I received a digital copy through NetGalley, and would not recommend a digital copy because it is difficult to navigate.
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
Except that the stitches aren’t named A Year of Knitting Stitches is the newest in the perpetual calendars for knitters. New and revisited stitches are always a welcome edition to any knitter’s reference collection.
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley for a honest review.
I was very excited to review this book and I was happy to say it had a lot of stitch patterns I would love to try out, I can play for a very long time. I do wish the author name the stitch patterns, now I'm not sure if that's just the formating in ebook or not. I know I would like this as a physical book too, much easier to flip through
I love the concept of this book, as well as the colorful swatches and clean layout. I'm a proficient/advanced knitter, so I love exploring new patterns and techniques, both for exploring style and building technical skills. The B&W Kindle format left a lot to be desired in terms of interface but the .pdf version was much better. The fonts and formatting were clear, which is really important to me as a knitter. The thing that would have taken it to a 5-star for me would have been to have the name of the stitch patterns on each day, rather than just the date. I could see using this as a fun "swatch-a-day" exercise but would more so envision myself using it as a stitch dictionary instead. Thanks to the publishers for an advance copy through NetGalley!
› A Year of Knitting Stitches contains 365 stitches, one for each day. Knitters could use this to make squares for a blanket, or many other projects. The calendar also includes a pattern for a shawl and a cowl.
› The e-arc was kind of a mess. I would imagine the actual physical calendar is beautiful. If anyone who knows me is reading this - tell my hubby this would be great in my stocking!
› This is not for beginner knitters unless you have knowledge of the different knitting abbreviations OR you are an adventurous knitter who doesn't mind Googling or watching Youtube videos to learn specific techniques.

Lots of knitting stitches. I am only a basic knit and purl type of knitter so I can't wait to give these stitches a go and follow the great instructions and examples
This is a cool idea to keep your knitting fresh and to always keep learning new techniques. I'm a very visual person so the written instructions were hard for me to understand (I'd probably need a YouTube tutorial), and I didn't care for some of the stitch designs, but overall an interesting concept.
Great variation of stitches. I have also reviewed the crochet version, and what I liked with this knitting variety was that the stitches were not themed by month. I loved the vibrant colours in most of the pictures, but like the crochet version, some of the paler yarns did not come out so well, but less of a problem for this knitting version. However, for this knitting version I was missing the schematics more than I did for crocheting, especially for colour works, I am not used to doing theses by written instructions. But overall a great gift for a knitter.
I'm an avid knitter, so this appealed to me as a great idea for a calendar. The stitches range from quite basic to complicated lace, cables, and mosaic, and if you can't follow the written instructions, the charts are available online with a code provided. The calendar ends with patterns for a shawl and cowl. The layout of my ebook ARC wasn't the easiest to follow, as the images were separated from their instructions and each stitch didn't have a name, which would have helped, so I would suggest hunting this one out in hard copy. It's a great resource.

Such awesome patterns. I restarted knitting a year and a half ago and can't wait to try some of these😍
Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for this ecopy.
I'm reviewing both these stitch guides together because they will be published simultaneously by the same publisher. Like the popular stitch a day page a day calendars, these books present 365 different stitches for the crafter seeking more options for their own designs. Nicely illustrated with color photos, neatly presented instructions, with some patterns at the end as well as general crocheting and knitting information. I didn't test any of the patterns, but I read through quite a few and tried to match them to the photos, to see if I saw any errors, and didn't find any on the days I spot checked. These would be perfect gifts for the crafter in your life.
This is a great way to try out some new stitches and expand your knitting skills. What I love most are the new techniques. Secondly I love that this calendar isn’t tied to a specific year and you can use it over and over, or even pass it on to a friend when you’re done. A great gift for your knitting friends!
A short and sweet, mostly one-page knitting stitch for each day of the year.
I appreciate that this is a perpetual calendar that can be used year after year. I'd love to have this out in my living room to give me a quick wind-down project each evening, especially in the winter months. There are a few longer, more complicated stitches, but most are non-intimidating and take up only one page.
A beautiful perpetual calendar that can be used and referenced year to year, just as the stitches will never go out of style. From lacework, colorwork and more, with full color pictures and written instructions, along with access to stitch charts online, this little stitch guide has everything you need to be inspired by the beautiful patterns and stitchwork. A wonderful gift for the knitter in your life, with patterns for multiple levels of knitting experience. I really enjoyed experimenting with new patterns and growing my knitting skills.
A great book with 366 new stitches to try for your next project or make one of each and connect the samples to make a rug,. the patterns are in multiples of various number of stitches, most common being 4,6,8,12,16. There are some patterns at the end of the book which help with imagining what to make. All stitches are easy to follow with a translation of abbreviations (where needed) and all knitted in wonderful colors and each block has its own page. Great book. Thanks you NetGalley and the publishers for the DRC
A great collection of various knitting stitches but I was frustrated by the names of the stitches not being included. For example, Old Shale and Feather and Fan, which are similar, are shown, but it's hard to differentiate in the small sample shown. Also, many of the stitches were shown in a variegated yarn which made it difficult to see the pattern of the stitch. I so wanted to love this guide, but was left feeling meh.
This review is of a digital copy, rather than a printed calendar. The images are clear and the swatches themselves well-designed: color work has enough contrast to be easily seen and the colors chosen are light enough to show a high degree of detail. Additional features like instructions for knitting and measuring a gauge swatch and how to adapt the patterns to create finished objects make the book very functional for knitters who are already familiar with the basics. Thank you to Netgalley for digital review copy.
This is such a great knit stitch accumulation. So clearly written with great pictures of the each stitch. Myself I love written instructions rather than charts but there is a link inside the book to download the charts for each stitch if you would rather have them. Each stitch is fully explained with picture on just one page except for a few longer stitches. Inspiration galore. There are lace, cable. Mosaic, and textured stitches. There's also a couple of projects thrown in at the end and explanations for all abbreviations and gauge. There aren't any really complicated stitches, no brioche etc.
Overall a fantastic stitch library.

Firstly, I was really impressed with the knitting designs for this knit a day.book.
The downside is that I have no clue what those knitting codes are. I thought it would show beginners like me with little to no knowledge and then progress as the days go along.
The designs and options are gorgeous, but they will only make sense if you have basic knowledge of knitting at least...
