I liked this book. Lots of varied patterns both simple and complicated. Well explained instructions

Super fun way to learn new stitches. Kept it short and simple.

Thank you to Globe Pequot, Stackpole Books, and NetGalley.

This is a calendar with dates but not days of the week, so you can use it for any year, which is very appropriate for a stitch dictionary calendar.
There are many nice stitch patterns. It is by no means a fancy Japanese stitch dictionary, but there are some interesting patterns, too. I liked many of them. Some of the samples aren't the best quality in regards to clarity and stitch definition, but most are ok. This book is much better in this regard compared to its crochet companion.

This is a great stitch dictionary!! And I love that it is a stitch a day! My only criticism is that I really wish the names of the stitch patterns were included. It’s really annoying to find a stitch you love and then not know what it’s called. But I also really liked that there are a couple of patterns at the end. I hope there are more of these to come!

Beautiful patterns. Easy to understand the instructions IF and only IF you are already very experienced with knitting and the abbreviated codes used to describe stitches and actions. Not for a beginner but COULD have been with two pages of explanations.

Take it from a knitter and knitting pattern designer: this book is good! I love the collection of knitting stitches, and this one is good. There is plenty to choose from, some are really simple, and some are more complex. There is something for every skill level, and if you are looking for inspiration for your next project, this book is great.

This is a fabulous resource for knitters, particularly those who might be venturing into creating their own designs. Stitches are clearly photographed for each day. The book also includes two basic pattern “recipes” (a scarf and a cowl) that work as templates that stitch patterns can be placed into. Knitters who wanted to create a blanket sampler are encouraged to create a swatch of each days' stitch and put them together. The stitches are set up as a perpetual calendar, so there is no particular day of the week attached. The only complaint I had is that instructions for each stitch pattern are only presented in text, rather than text and chart. I would happily add this book to my stitch reference collection.

I think this is a really great book that could be used to create a year long unit along project like a blanket. We will definitely be requesting a copy for the shop.

A Year of Knitting Stitches provides a stitch pattern for each day of the year. An excellent reference book for knitters of all abilities, the layout is great and the pictures and instructions clear and concise. One niggle is that using multi coloured yarn does not give as much clarity in the pictures as plain yarn would. Apart from that, this book covers every stitch and pattern one could wish. It would be a valuable addition to any knitters library and I did discover stitch patterns not familiar to me. Surprising as I have been knitting for many years. Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for the chance to read an advance copy. Highly recommended.

This is a day-at-a-glance calendar that has details of a new knitting stitch each day. I thought this format was excellent and would be ideal for people who enjoy knitting. Previewing it on kindle means that all of the photographs are only in black and white - so I would expect the real deal to be much more visually interesting.

Thanks for the opportunity to review.

A Year of Knitting Stitches by Tabetha Hedrick The book includes a balance of more complex lace and cable patterns as well as relatively simple knit and purl only stitches. One disadvantage is that the stitches do not have names, which makes it hard to identify your favorites (other than by date). An excellent resource for a collection of knitting stitch patterns, but the kindle format does not do it justice,

Thank you to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for the opportunity to preview the book.

This is an excellent collection of knitting stitch patterns. I’ve used a couple in the past and always found several stitches that became “keepers.” The book has a really good mix of fairly simple stitches using knits and purls only, along with more advanced lace and cable stitches.

This will definitely sit on my desk next year; the perfect gift for a knitter.

Thanks NetGalley, Globe Pequot, and Stackpole Books for this fantastic arc!

4.5/5 stars rounded up!

This is really a fantastic addition to any knitters library. Full of patterns with easy to follow instructions, this is sure to ignite your imagination and inspire new projects! The only thing this is lacking is including the pattern names, and then a table of contents for which pattern is where. That's the only reason it has 4.5 instead of five stars! It's fantastic otherwise :)

A wonderful resource for any knitter!

Coming up with 366 stitches is no easy feat, especially attractive, approachable ones within decently short row repeats and decently short stitch repeats, so it's forgivable that many of the stitches are colorwork variations or slight variations of stitches that had come before. It doesn't make it any less of a fabulous reference, especially if someone is trying to put together a larger pattern, or wants an interesting shawl or cowl (while a savvy knitter comfortable with reading their stitches could convert the patterns to in the round, they are written for flat knitting). The patterns are also all written in stitches easy enough for a beginner to intermediate beginner to feel comfortable jumping in, with an abbreviation dictionary in the back that is clearly written, something that isn't always found in patterns.

While I do wish that some of the patterns had names beyond trying to remember what month or day a certain pattern was on, it's still extremely useful as both a perpetual calendar and a challenge to try all sorts of different stitch variations. I appreciate that the pictures use a variety of yarn, in different colors as well as slightly variegated, to give some variation, though at times, it does make the stitch patterns harder to see clearly.

A Year of Knitting Stitches : A Stitch-a-Day Perpetual Calendar is an extensive collection of 365 different knitting stitches complete with a coloured photograph and very clear step by step instructions. As with the crotchet version I love the concept and browsing through the book, but the stitches don't have names so its difficult to identify your favourites (apart from naming them by date). I prefer the stitches in one colour and some are really interesting. I wouldn't pick it up and have a go everyday but I would look for the patterns I like visually. Overall a good book.

Are you a KNIT?

I used to be a prolific knitter.
Since my hand have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome I have had to put it on hold.
I see a plastic surgeon in September so I’d love to do a pattern per day as a square out of this book.

It’s a pattern per day guys, 365 of them! Nice blanket right? All different patterns to try and an array of yarn colours….imagine it. I am.

The layout on this book as far as I can see, is the pattern photo as a swatch and the Row instructions at the side.
I don’t have the physical copy but I’d love too!
Looking at it on Ebook that seems how it is.

Beginner or intermediate or experienced, this is so good.

This would make a fab gift for a Knitter.
