Highly recommend to anyone wanting a good story, easy to follow and offering a little spice along the way. It didn't disappoint 😊
Thank you to Netgalley, the publishers and of course the author for gifting me this advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book looked like the kind of lighthearted romcom that I needed and it was. Following the lives of Evie and Josh - two best friends who are fighting their undeniable chemistry until an incident one night between them leads to a falling out and essentially leads to them having to face their fears and their feelings and come clean to each other.
Lovely light hearted read full of all the feels and quite realistic and relatable with a nice amount of spice!
I like the books of this author.
They are always funny and have the right sence of drama in it.
I loved Evie and Josh's story. They booth know what the want for the future.
Have fun readin!
This was a quick and easy read with some delicious steam! It was advertised as the 2nd in a series but also a standalone. I was a bit lost at the beginning of the book because I had not read this 1st in the series --- so I would definitely recommend starting with book 1 before diving into this one. This book wasn't really "it" for me, but it certainly could be a me thing and not an issue with the book.
Thanks to the author and publisher for the review copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
(it would be a 2.5 if allowed to give half stars)
I love Josh and Evie! This was a perfect book to read. Iloved each and every word of this book and I loved the back and forth banter and the spice! There are some trigger warnings you need to consider but I had no trouble with reading the story.
I just reviewed Stalling in Love: A steamy opposites attract romance by Rebecca Chase. #StallinginLove #NetGalley

Lately, I've been loving sports romances, and this one was no exception. Very cute, and very enjoyable to read.
A fun read, the story of Evie and Josh. Opposites attract, I liked how it was told from both points of view.
This was really hard to follow and the writing was weak and convoluted. I had an incredibly hard time finishing.
If you love these, you’ll love this:
- friends to lovers
- second chance
- open door spice
- sports romance
Evie and Josh’s story is an easy read.
And I did read it very quickly and throughly enjoyed the book
However I wasn’t aware it was apart of a series, it can be read as a standalone but probably more optimal if you read the first story prior.
Otherwise I loved it and can’t wait for the next story in the series
Thank you so much for this ARC copy of Stalling in Love
A very enjoyable steamy romance which had all the fun parts. Will be reccomending to everyone. Because it was a great read
This was a surprisingly good story. At first, I thought it would be superficial with all the talk about sex, but then the story got into the deep end packing some serious emotional trauma from the past. And yes, there was quite some spice in the book, but it wasn’t distracting from all the emotional work. Evie and Josh were good for each other, they supported and loved each other throughout all the murk. They learnt to cope with their baggage and deserved the awaiting happiness.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me a copy of the book.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for a copy of this book.
Evie and Josh are best friends who fight, keep secrets, and yet completely trust each other from the moment they became friends. What the pair lacks in chemistry and likability, they make up for with stilted conversations and almost constant arousal. Another review said “For people in their late twenties, they act like teenagers” and I couldn’t agree more. None of the characters were written well with Josh’s father being the worst.
This book has little to no plot and what plot there is is almost impossible to follow. Characters jump from location to plot point to bizarre, rambling speech with no explanation. This story was supposedly spanning weeks while also being less than 24 hours. I have never been more confused by a timeline in my life.
Additionally, this book is advertised as a standalone romance which is clearly is not. The first 16 pages make no sense if you have not read the first book, which I did not. Stalling in Love needs a lot of work to make the plot easier to follow, conversations to read like actual conversations, and round out characters so they don’t fall so flat.
I honestly struggled with this book in the beginning. The first few chapters felt super disjointed and rushed. But the story got easier to read somewhat after this. I couldn’t stand the way the mfc and mmc acted. For people in their late twenties, they acted like teenagers. They refused to tell each other about their pasts but still managed to trust each other. And the dad of the mmc was just the most ridiculous character. He spoke like someone from a crappy movie with his line. It just wasn’t for me.
The plot felt far fetched. The characters were not likeable at all. I raced through it just to finish it. I cannot DNF a book, but I wanted to with this one.
Thank you Netgalley for the advanced readers copy.
This was a cute read. It was a bit confusing in the beginning trying to get caught up as I hadn't read the first book and it wasn't quite as standalone as I'm used to. However, once I got my bearings, the story itself was entertaining and I enjoyed the characters.
DNF @ 31%.
No hate to the author but I felt no chemistry between the MCs. The mystery or buildup of their pasts is very poorly done. I could just not connect or invest in these characters.
Thank you to the author for choosing me for this ARC! I'm forever grateful <3
Who doesn’t love a sports romance? Aidan is a rough and tumble rugby player and Evie is a frenemy. She has a past, and he’s determined to live his life squeaky clean with a quiet woman. Enemies to lovers….
The spice is definitely there!! The story was not enough for me, though.
I couldn't get into this one. It started off feeling like I was missing something. Like maybe there was another book or a novella or something I was supposed to read first? I also struggle with 3rd POV but that is totally a ME problem not an author problem. I just wish I would have known before hand. The sex scenes were definitely worth the read though! They were spicy!
When I felt a bit lost from the get go, I knew this book would be an uphill climb. I reread the first bit to try to figure out what I missed, but of course, that information was in the previous book in the series. Nevertheless, I soldiered on in Josh and Evie’s story. It ended up being a lot more dramatic and heavy (and deliciously spicy) than I predicted. If I was more gung-ho, I’d go back and read Head Over Feels so I could get a better idea of their beginning, but I’m not. My recommendation is to read that first if you think this book sounds good!
"Stalling in Love" by Rebecca Chase is a sizzling and emotionally charged romance that explores the complexities of love and secrets. Evie and Josh's tumultuous relationship, filled with passion and insecurities, makes for a compelling and steamy read. The novel delves deep into their individual struggles and the magnetic pull that keeps drawing them together. Chase skillfully navigates the rollercoaster of emotions and desires, creating a story that keeps you hooked until the very end. This opposites-attract romance is a rollercoaster ride of sensuality and emotional depth, making it a must-read for fans of passionate love stories. I just wish i had picked up book 1 first!
I haven’t read Head Over Heels prior to this book, but I enjoyed the book so much. I do struggle with 3rd person narration, but this book was easygoing and a really nice read✨
Rebecca wrote the spicy scenes so well, my imagination is working overtime to create the pictures of what’s getting described. Josh and Evie are literally the fictional copies of my boyfriend and I, and I’m honestly so happy to find myself in a book that is so well written.
Thank you NetGalley and Rebecca Chase for giving me the opportunity to read this beautiful book in advance!
Anyway, THE BOOK IS OUT TODAY! So make sure you grab your own personal copy!
