I love a good single-mom romance books, so this plotline caught my eye right away!

The plot line is so cute and the characters are quiet likable! However, I did not like the book’s flow and the writing. I tried to just suck it up and finish the book, and I eventually did, but it was so hard.

The plot is heavy but there’s not enough depth.

Thank you, NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

This story certainly had alot of twists to it. Christine was blackmailed into sleeping with her stepsister's new groom so he wouldn't know she wasn't a virgin. She gets pregnant and the stepmother and sister treat her worse than ever. When she gets turned out without a dime when she has her son, a wonderful man takes her in. When her son (who is very very smart) is 5, she meets his father again and Ethan (her little boy) knows that is his father. Hunter loves interacting with the little boy and wishes he was his son. They agree to pretend for a week and both love it. It will be interesting to see her stepmother and sister get their comeuppance in the next part of the story

Quick Summary: A P-Drama in book form

My Review: Billionaire's Substitute Bride and Her Secret Child, Part 1 by Lana West was a mixed bag read. It was all of the extra and then some.

About the Book: Blackmailed, pregnant, ruined and betrayed, Christine Carter had been left without a hope. However, someone decidedly intervened and her life changed for the better. Before she knew what was happening, she and her son's paths unexpectedly intersected with none other than Hunter Gray, her child's father. (Insert dramatic music.)

Initial Thoughts: As I was reading this book, I kept thinking that it had to be AI-generated. It was so far off the mark with much of its content. It was highly unbelievable. I don't say that lightly. In truth, I kept pausing in an effort to research the author and find out about her other books and about her writing style. I didn't get very far with that, which concerned me. Still, I pushed through as best as I could.

My Final Say: This was a yea but no for me. It was simply too much. Too raw. Too heavy. Too fabricated. Too over the top. The thought that I walked away with was less is very definitely better than more.

Other: Please be advised to read the author's notes on this book, as there are a number of triggers.

Rating: 2/5
